banana pudding matcha latte
Emily Z.

They're located on the 2nd floor of Fashion Valley inside the food court area, in a kiosk/stand. I ordered the banana pudding matcha latte on the ipad but you can also order with a person. The ipad didn't allow an option to adjust sweetness but I asked them to do less sweet for mine. The matcha drink itself is pretty good it's matcha-y and not sweet. The sweetness mostly comes from the large scoop of banana pudding, which is pretty good. There's chunks of banana in it and it's mildly sweet and creamy, the consistency kind of reminds me of ice cream? Maybe it is ice cream, as some of it melted. I had to mix the pudding into the matcha with a spoon. However I'm also confused because the cup is full of ice and it's hard to mix it with a straw and get the pudding with all the ice cubes in the way. I would say this is more of a spoon type dessert rather than a drink. There was also too much ice for the price - over half the cup was filled with ice, and it was still $10. I'm not sure if you're able to adjust the ice level. I think the banana pudding matcha at Urban Matcha is comparable, and it's in a smaller cup but with less ice for the same price, making it easier to drink/eat, and the banana cream is more flavorful. While I enjoyed the matcha I'm not sure it's worth the cost. I am however open to trying their other offerings if I'm in this mall again.

Banana Pudding Matcha ($9.95) & Double Matcha ($9.95)

So happy they have their own stand now! I visited when they were a pop-up. They were pretty busy in the afternoon when I came, but working hard to make our drinks. Drinks are definitely pricier since they're located in a mall... Banana pudding matcha (4.5/5): perfect sweetness, matcha is strong, and the banana is actual pudding! Double matcha (4/5): strong, not too sweet Mango sticky rice (3.5/5): refreshing and pretty coconut-forward so I wasn't the biggest fan

Delicious matcha and the friendliest service. Loved the taste and presentation and the shop was easy to find in front of Skims 2nd floor. Free parking at the mall, another win.

After operating as a pop-up vendor at farmers markets and private events, Avo & Ocha now has a setup at the Fashion Valley Mall in Linda Vista. Their kiosk is located on the upper level across from the food court. Matcha, coffee, tea, and snacks were the menu categories. A sheet and a banner displayed some of the offerings, but you need to use the self-service tablet at the counter to view the full selections. My arrival was near the end of the day when a few items were sold out or unavailable. I chose a Passionfruit Tonic Matcha that had passionfruit jelly/syrup in the bottom of the cup with matcha and soda water as the other ingredients. It was definitely not a latte as no milk was used. I wish the cup was filled all the way to the rim and then capped with a lid or plastic seal. You can see from my photo how it was presented. The matcha flavor was alright considering the drink cost $8.95. The tartness from the passionfruit provided a sharp contrast. For the quality and price of my item, I gave a 3.5 star rating and rounded up because of the good service from the worker.

Super cute matcha and coffee pop-up at Fashion Valley mall! There aren't great matcha options at the mall, so this was nice to see. The kiosk is located outside of the Skims store and across the food court. They have a small amount of seating, about 2 or 3 tables, beside the kiosk. They offer a self-service tablet and QR codes to pay as well. Prices aren't directly displayed on the menu, but rather on the tablet. Besides matcha, they offer Vietnamese coffee, hojicha, and croffles. I had the strawberry coconut with matcha foam. It's primarily coconut water, with a splash of strawberry purée and topped with a sweet matcha foam. Very refreshing, but I did notice that the drink wasn't very sweet. The sweetness comes through with the matcha cold foam at the end, I would've appreciated if the purée was sweetened as well. The strawberry taste was pretty faint, but a decent drink overall! The cost of the drink was $8.95 without tip.

This matcha stand recently opened in Fashion Valley. I ordered a strawberry coconut Matcha, which included strawberry purée, coconut water, and Matcha. The Matcha flavor does not really show, but the strawberry flavor is strong. It's not overly sweet and it's very refreshing. As a strawberry fan, I would get the drink again. There is a tablet for you to self order. It took about five minutes for me to get my drink. Because this stand is located at fashion Valley Mall, it's really convenient to get a drink while you walk around and shop. There's plenty of seating area around the food court for you to sit and sip of your drink as well. I took off one star just for the price point. It's a little bit pricey. It was about $9 for my Matcha. But disclaimer, I think matcha in general is just raising in price. Whoever added a cute flower to my drink, kudos to you. I really appreciated the flower on my drink and it put a smile on my face and made my day. To that specific employee, you get a 5/5.

I've been to their pop up before so I was excited they opened in Fashion Valley! A great addition to the mall and convenient when you're craving matcha while shopping lol. -Banana pudding matcha (4.5/5): Not overly sweet so a good sweetness, matcha is strong and smooth, banana pudding is tasty -Double matcha (4/5): Strong and not too sweet -Mango sticky rice matcha (3/5): Not too sweet, mango flavor is a little light and more coconut forward, wasn't my favorite Ordering is done at the self serve kiosk. Service can be a little slow since they're pretty busy and have a small but hardworking team. Prices are pretty high since they're in a mall but cup sizes are decent.

Coconut coffee and banana pudding. SO DELICIOUS!!

Wow! We've been on the look out for seriously good coffee, from SD to OC. This place is simply amazing. We haven't been to this mall in years but made the trek because of Avo & Ocha. I tried their matcha in the past (different location) and it was delicious. This visit, we tried the coconut coffee and their banana pudding coffee. Coconut coffee is reminiscent of the quality and taste you'd find in Vietnam. The banana pudding coffee was so fresh and balanced. Hands down the best versions we've found state side. And we've been to A LOT of coffee shops. To be honest, Vietnam coffee only tasted better because we were on vacation. lol. Service is super friendly and the long lines move fairly quick considering their care in making every drink special. We can't wait to come back and try other drinks. They're located across from the food court at the mall.

Yes, go try it especially if you are shopping and be patient, they are definitely getting popular at the location! Stumbled across this cute matcha spot while shopping with my boyfriend. The night prior we saw a video of the blue cloud like drink and how much I wanted one. The next day, Avo & Ocha was there! First off, for a small space the owners work with. They are sweet, calm, and hard working you can tell. I have followed them since I came across them and read they had a pop up it's a farmers market but have recently halted to focus at Fashion's location. I think it's a great direction and area! You can find it in front of the Lego store next to SKIMS store I believe. The menu is small and perfect, they don't overcomplicate match and make it with love and care you can tell. I had the banana one and it was soooo yummmmy! Need to come back! what a blessing we have Avo & Ocha now!

The matcha is strong and bitter, and the matcha banana pudding is good but i think they should really be separate and they don't bring the flakes together cohesively in this

Finally got to try the new Matcha pop-up stand in fashion Valley. The service was quick with plenty of options. I thought the Matcha was a little bit on the lighter side as in too much water, but I'm glad I can grab something while shopping. I prefer this over the typical better buzz coffee lines though. I tried their regular matcha which was ok.

avo and ocha is a must needed spot in fashion mall where you can grab a high quality matcha and enjoy shopping around the mall! they have a variety of of option from matcha, coffee and hojicha to chose from. i got the coconut cloud matcha with coconut jelly and the jelly is so refreshing to sip and balances the drink so well! you order on a tablet and though they are busy it doesn't take too long to get your drink. i'll be back to try their banana pudding matcha!

This little kiosk is located on the second floor of Fashion Valley mall on the opposite side of the food court right next to Skims and Athleta. They have various drinks from matcha, hojicha, and coffees. I wish their displayed menu had prices on them, however when you go order at the kiosk it shows you the prices. I felt like the matcha were a little expensive at almost $10. The hojicha and coffees were a little more reasonable at $8-9 but still pricey for the amount you get. The service was quick. My drink came out fast but I can't say much about the workers as I didn't have a lot of interaction with them. I got the blue sky coffee which was a Vietnamese coffee with spirulina coconut foam. The top was decorated to look like a sky with clouds in it. I think the clouds were made from coconut cream however that was the only coconut flavor in the foam. The drink was delicious but not as coconutty as I expected. It wasn't too sweet which was nice and the coffee itself was bold but not too strong. The spirulina gave a beautiful blue color to the foam so the drink was really pretty as were a lot of other drinks that I saw come out. I guess the extra price goes toward the aesthetics of the drink. Overall, pricy but a nice treat every now and then.

After heading over and trying a few items really regretted not going g earlier. Ordered the coconut Sunday with coconut and mango ice cream. Best coconut ice cream! It is served w/3 scoops plus coconut meat in a coconut shell. 5/5. We also ordered the sticky rice w/mango sundae w/mango ice cream. 5/5 We ordered to take home the coconut jelly and the bar bin for home. Enjoyment. Again both were great. Cute interior design with a few seats and a couple outside. Parking may be limited at busy times- we did luckily find one next to the building but didn't see any others. Staff was super friendly, answered questions for items we weren't sure about and advised how to heat up our take home item.

Cleanliness especially bathroom looks really dirty and unorganized. As busy as this place, they need to clean up and add more quality place to hang out in. Still very good desserts, like I said the issue now is consistency and cleanliness Thank you guys

Bird Rock Coffee, a San Diego native named for the little town in La Jolla known for its rock formations along the coast inhabiting various seabirds, has expanded quite a bit all across the county and this location is just as unique as the others I've visited. Attached to the cafe, you'll get a glimpse into their roasting operations. What started as a micro-roaster, this chain has garnered a following near and far for their single origins, blends, and specialty drinks. As you arrive to this location, you'll find that there's limited parking relative to the size of this building. As you step foot into the shop, you'll understand why - most of their footprint is occupied by their roasting equipment but the dining space is still relatively large compared to more niche coffee shops. Situated with small tables as well as bench tops, during my weekend excursion, there was never a time that it was completely packed so you're bound to find a spot to camp. Outlets are also available from certain spots. Ordering is simple which can be done at the register or online. The menu is quite extensive with all things coffee but consider checking their online menus as I found items like their double cappuccino that wasn't advertised on their physical menus. If you do order through their mobile app, you'll automatically get reward points toward free drinks or food. Speaking of special offers, they also offer birthday goodies so when it's that time of the year, you're in for a treat! I did end up getting the double cappuccino and it was delicious and came out hot with just enough foam to add volume to each sip. If I weren't traveling with so much stuff, I would have considered getting their bags of beans to brew at home. Fortunately, they do offer a subscription and delivery through their website so for those like me looking for a taste from afar, you're in luck! From dark to light roasts, you'll have quite a few options with the notes you desire. The staff were friendly and helpful despite constantly at full capacity. Drinks kept churning out with the same consistent quality and hospitality. Overall, Bird Rock is a local roaster you'll want to check out as their growing operations is a clear result of their consistent product quality, accessibility through its many locations and ordering methods, and excellent service. This location in particular is just blocks away from the huge playground and park next to mission bay, albeit you're better off driving. I was much too full to grab food this around but it may be worth a try to go with the coffee next time. Whether you're a local or just visiting, consider making a trip out and roost on this rock for a while!
