Out of the several Avelo flights I've taken, never had a negative aspect to point out! While you do have to pay quite a bit out of pocket for additional items such as snacks, bags, extra leg room, etc. I believe that should not take away from the fact that it's worth it in the end. Easy direct flights from a nearby airport to many destinations worth visiting and most of all, affordable semi regular routes. Airline staff have never been an issue, and the smaller airports have been great to see versus the standard massive layover hubs we are all used to with the larger airlines. All and all, it is my go to flight down south and soon to be up north with many of the recently added routes. read more

I purchased an airline ticket on June 9th, 8:46 pm for a flight on June 15th. Upon purchasing, I immediately realized I used the incorrect payment method. I subsequently cancelled the purchase at 8:50 pm, and immediately repurchased a new ticket for the same time and date. I have an active ticket on the airline. I am not trying to avoid the ticket; it was an error, and I immediately cancelled it. I was issued a credit of less than $90. Every time I book a flight, they change my times. For example, they changed 2 of my flights from afternoon to 2a.m. This throws off my plans & sleep schedule. They offer a full refund but I already booked my car rental & Airbnb, & I have specific plans. After paying for the change fee was told at the gate that my personal item was too big despite it fitting under seat and asked to fork over $65 for this garbage flight with dated planes, unhappy workers, and no rebooking options. They also tried to illegally offer me partial credit instead of a full refund last flight that was delayed 20 hrs, defying FAA laws until I wasted a solid 8 hours of life on trying to get ahold of them and hung up on while they pretended it was an accident. I have flown Avelo several times now.... and before the last time flying I would have given them 5 stars.... on time or early, pleasant attendants and comfortable. I always travel with the same carry on backpack and put it under the seat in front of me. However, my most recent trip, my bag- along with several other people's was deemed to large and I had to pay $65 for it to go in the overhead bin. I was then one of the last people to board, so no overhead bin space was left. So my bag, that cost me $65, rode at my feet under the seat where it was supposedly to large to fit. I filed a complaint, which I had to follow up on because it was basically ignored only to be told my $65 would not be refunded because the attendants had the discretion to deem a bag to big!! Flew with my kids to see their grandparents a d on both flights they changed the seats from the ones I paid for. I paid so we were all together. Customer service said there was nothing thet could do and when I called Avelo there were 194 people in the queue and a 256 minute wait time. I flew from Atlanta to New Haven in June. The Avelo staff lost my luggage. I reached out online to make a claim, since that was the only option I was given. I explained that I would be travelling to Canada and to contact me by phone so we can make arrangements for me to retrieve my luggage. Instead, their customer service agent Melissa contacted through email and my luggage was sent to the wrong airport. I didn't really get to enjoy my vacation because I didn't have my belongings. I had to buy the daily essentials stuff to make it through my vacation. I was reunited with my luggage five days after I returned home. My laptop and my Oura ring were missing from my luggage. When I contacted Melissa about the missing items, she proceeded to send me a section from their "contract of carriage" that said they were not responsible for missing electronics, jewelry, videos, optical equipment, money, cosmetics, etc. I sent her the receipts of the items I purchased to use in Canada, I was told that I responded one day late to her request, therefore my case was closed. I reached out several times again and I got ignored up to this day. One would think that the airline would apologize, promise to investigate why my luggage was left behind and why some of my belongings were missing. Instead I was told that they were not responsible for any of it. With a company like that, the staff will continue to be incompetent and steal your stuff knowing that there would be no consequences. I was enjoying a perfectly normal Tuesday afternoon taco when suddenly -- BAM! -- complimentary zip ties and a surprise SUV transfer to the airport. No check-in line, no baggage fees... because they keep your belongings! Boarding: The boarding process was swift and mysterious. One minute I was minding my business, the next I'm seated in 32F next to a man named "Miguel or maybe Marco." No overhead bins, but you will overhear crying. Amenities: Let's talk in-flight service. The meal was a delightful tray of unseasoned sadness with a side of cold burrito and a Capri Sun I had to beg for. No tray tables -- just trays. And the only "in-flight entertainment" was a stern guy named Agent Rick reading my Miranda rights very slowly. Staff: Flight attendants wore tactical vests and didn't offer peanuts. I tried to ask if we'd be landing soon, and they said, "We'll let another country deal with you." Super confusing branding strategy. Baggage Policy: One emotional support trauma allowed per passenger. All other bags were "confiscated for national security reasons." Lost luggage 150 hrs ago (6 days) and even after being told 4 days ago our luggage was located we still can't get our luggage. To top it off we cannot get anyone to converse with us regarding this issue. AVELO has a Customer Service Commitment statement saying they will do everything reasonable to have lost luggage returned within 24 hrs. The flight is great no problem there. The issue is we paid for $60 dollar seats and they changed it to $35 dollar seats. Gave us a voucher for $50 dollars. That we will never use. Wow! If I could give this airline 0 stars for customer service, I would. I tried this airline for the first time this week and I already knew when booking that they charge a lot extra for your seat and bags, so that wasn't the issue. When I checked my bag before my flight in Palm Springs, the agent noticed that I didn't have a carry on bag. She politely told me that I paid for a carry on bag and since I didn't have one, I could call customer service and get a refund (apparently she couldn't remove the bag for me). So, the next day I called the airline and after waiting almost 2 hours to speak to someone, I explained what happened and the agent put me on a brief hold to check the system. She came back a stated that there wasn't a note in the system, so she couldn't provide a refund. I tried to explain what happened again and said it wasn't my fault the agent who checked me in didn't put in a note and during this, the agent started talking over me. So, not only was she being rude by not listening, but she was basically calling me a liar. I asked her to please take off the carry on bag for my return trip, and once again she refused to help me unless I paid $25.00. What??? I have to pay to receive customer service? In an era of unreasonable hospitality, this is absolutely ridiculous. She did tell me that I could do it online and that I would receive a credit to use for a future flight. Unfortunately, I won't get to use that credit since I will never fly this airline again and plan on telling everyone I know what a terrible experience I had. Avelo, you need to do better! I'm writing about a flight that was missed, while myself and a few other customers/families stood at the gate for 46 minutes and watched as the flight departed. There was nobody at the gate, so I walked through the airport until I bumped into an Avelo Rep, eventually someone came to help everyone rebook. Which they did, with no mention of Avelo flex, so everybody paid out of pocket for new tickets. When my sister went to get our checked bags in Greenville another airline attendant informed her they never made it to GSP, that no Avelo personal was in the airport because united does their ground work. So we drove back to Tweed NH to search for our bags. We found them. The following morning Ms. Padilla informed us that with Avelo flex we should have been given the option to transfer those funds towards a new flight. So I've attached my flight info to reclaim those funds. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm told this isn't possible, and I wouldn't mind. I'm returning home Thursday with Avelo and I am terrified, like legit night terrors terrified. Because now I know there are potentially no airline reps onsite to help, customers with general questions or, disabilities. We're just on our own, luckily my one leg doesn't stop me from helping myself. read more

I love the prices and kindness of their in person staff. Up until recently I would have given Avelo a 10. My last experience has really soured them for me. January 6 Avelo promised me $150.00 reimbursement per night for a hotel due to flight cancelations. It is now March 14th...no money. I have called over 7 times in the past few months. Always promises. Always the run around. No one willing to do anything except say they are working on it. Today a a customer service rep. got all the info needed for the reimbursement (finally) and promised they would mail a check. It will take up to 30 more days for that check to be cut and mailed! Beware they overbook every flight by many people. We went to Vegas and they kicked us and ten other people off the flight and made us stay another night in Vegas. They gave us $200 and it cost us an additional $490 just to get a last minute hotel and transportation. Not mention thousands in lost wages. Today on flight 1003 from ILM to BWI they boarded us during a storm and then made us wait until it passed. I get that but it took them forever to communicate that to us. There was also confusion at the gate before boarding as the digital sign had a different city posted. The communication was also bad there as no one know when there group should board. I overheard a gate agent saying that an attendant was blocking entrance to board the plane and the jetway was backed up. Turns out the crew didn't have their required rest time. And then when I asked if I could sit in one of the 6 empty emergency row seats I was told they don't normally do that because they are more expensive. The attendant was very smug. Until today, I gave this airline the highest ratings. The weather is not Avelo's fault but the way they handled it today was not impressive. Just starting out my flight experience here and it's not worth it. You have to check in 24 hours early and they didn't seat me and my girlfriend together. So in order to move her over to me i had to pay $18 (it wasn't an upgraded seat, just basic economy) They display the max dimensions for a carry on and my suitcase was exactly that. So we get to the entrance where we check in and they say it was too big for a carry on. What? So i had 2 options check it or leave it. so i paid $65 to bring my luggage with me. 2 my girlfriend had her suit case (way way smaller than mine) they said she didn't have a carry on. Which our tickets say it was included, So i then have to pay 65 MORE to be able to bring her stuff. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! spend the same amount of $$$ and just fly delta. read more
