Arctic chat with garlic aioli and farro salad

My wife and I did the Healdsburg Farmers Market cooking class hosted by Donna and her amazing team at Relish. We learned so much talking to the vendors at the market, then walked to the location across the street to make the most amazing meal. I learned so much more in the ~4 hours about food, cooking, and farming than I expected to. Thank you to Donna and the Relish team for an amazing afternoon together. I highly recommend. It makes a great birthday or anniversary present!

Best decision we made as this tour became one of the highlights of our trip. Molly, our host, was very friendly and informative. She took us to great tasting rooms with different wines and even offered awesome recommendations for foodie spots and other wineries to check out on our free day in Sonoma county. Luckily, we were the only people on this tour (went on a Wednesday) so we pretty much got a private tour at a group cost. The tour starts by meeting up in Healdsburg Plaza and takes about 3-4hrs from start to finish. It includes two non alcoholic spots so that you get a break and don't get completely wasted. I appreciated this since you're technically drinking about 4-5 glasses of 1-3oz pours at each tasting. The food paired with the wine were bite size pieces to help compliment the flavors, so don't expect full size meals when you do this tour. All stops were unique and was always different than the last. Molly took us to the following shops: -Downtown Bakery & Creamery -Stephen & Walker -Rockpile Vineyards -Russian River Tea Company -Spicy Vines We can't recommend this tour enough. I'm really glad we did it because we were able to try some wine that we never expected to have (spicy wine!!) but also got to see different parts of the the Healdsburg square area. If you're looking to kill some time with great food pairing and wine, definitely book this tour for your next day adventure. You won't regret it.

His knowledge not only of each restaurant and the story behind it but, of the wine and food itself made the experience almost surreal. We learned things about wine and food pairings that we thought to be myths in the past. Not only that, he made it so easy for us to take this knowledge home and try it with her own favorite wine and foods at home. Also, his personality is genuine and friendly, easy conversation and funny! We LOVED hanging out with him! My group and I had so much fun we were deeply saddened when we realized the tour was finally over. So whether you are heading into Healdsburg for a trip or live there and just want a day of amazing wine food and company I highly and when I say highly I truly mean HIGHLY recommend booking ma tour with wine and country walking tours

I contacted Gene several weeks in advance of our trip and he managed to address all of our varied interests. Specifically, we were interested in learning more about the winemaking process, biodynamic wineries, and tasting bold reds and some sparkling wine. Gene put together the following schedule for us, and we could not be more thrilled. Stonestreet Winery - Pretty good, but pricey, Cabernet Sauvignon. Too bad because the tasting room staff were really knowledgeable and friendly. Lancaster Estate - Our favorite! Here Gene scheduled a private tour of the estate and wine cave (where the barrels are stored). They only make four wines (sauvignon blanc, a cuvee, a cab, and a signature bordeaux blend), all of which are absolutely impeccable. We even considered joining the wine club, but the waiting list was too long for my patience. Robert Young Estate - Good scion; also known for their chardonnay but I personally found it too buttery. Tasting room staff was kinda tipsy too... Truett Hurst - A biodynamic winery specializing in zinfandel. I especially love their 2006 Red Rooster zin, which is really spicy and unusual (think cloves and cardamom). Montemaggiore - A small (10 acre), organic, estate winery owned by a family that's recently entered the winemaking trade. Gene scheduled an hour-long private chat with the owner/winemaker, and it was a phenomenal educational experience! Highly recommended. Many of the winery staff also seemed to really know and respect Gene, so they also gave us considerably more attention when we would walk in with Gene =) Go to tripadvisor.com if you want to see more reviews of Gene's services.

There are not enough stars for this review!…read more Every bit of this outfit is outstanding. The staff is friendly, informative and patient. The equipment is ideal for the area, with plenty off choices for more intense rides. The options for "trails" are urban for the local area, and north and south for the Wineries. We had a package deal that has a guide for the first day and on our own for the second day. Our guide, Taylor, was way cool. A local farmer/roadie/ San Fran local, with keen intel on the farming/bio-dynmic/ foodie/ family history. He clearly has a great history and relationship with the folks we stopped at and every bit was personable and flexible. He had an excellent read on the strength and weakness of the group. Overall, we did a gentle 20 miles on cushie bikes and drank a touch more wine then is good for willfully concurring the hills. We had a group of 6 and took a north loop that peaked at Quivira with the most spectacular bio-dynamic gardens. I mean bees, pigs, chickens and just the coolest raised beds I have ever seen. Seriously, I could happily retire and intern here. Our second day, was on our own on the southern route, me thinks just about 23 miles. My Aunt made it to Porter Creek (not on purpose) but I peaked at Thomas George Estate. We followed recommendations and lunched at Arista. Worthy!!! This is another heaven on Earth spot. It is not over rated. My only small complaint, on the second day (far beyond the control of the good folks at Wine County Bikes was the aggressive construction truck drivers. Mind you...there is a consistent "you're going to get hurt bad if you come off the road" with no clear bike lane. With that said the greater majority of cars, albeit fast, are very good about dealing with "tourist bike riders". Highly recommended!!!!!!
