We had a lovely time at Playte Kitchen! We did the farmer's market tour with Chef Sandy, and then went back to the kitchen to make risotto and a galette with both Chef Sandy and Chef Matt. It was such a fun time! Would highly recommend.

My wife and I did a Thai cooking class led by Matt. He was outstanding. Made the unfamiliar pantry products approachable and the recipes easy to follow. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend to others as a fun activity.

We visit Napa every couple of years and have wanted to do a culinary class on this trip, so while researching options, Playte Kitchen came up and after seeing all those great reviews (and reading many of them) we decided to book a class here. We were simply looking for a fun, interesting experience, thinking we might learn something, we had no idea we'd be learning so much from Chef Matt and attending such an incredible culinary course! The day we selected was Thai day and he was teaching green curry, pad se ew and mango sticky rice. We thought how authentic can this really be, especially from a chef that specializes in many culinary styles - Well, this was extremely authentic and amazing! Chef Matt has done a culinary tour of Thailand (he's doing another early next year!) and offered so many great tips that only a true Thai chef would know (such as how to identify the best quality ingredients, differences in using ginger versus galangal root, and many others). He taught us some great tips, like using a mortar and pestle in certain cases, versus a spice grinder. Then the cooking techniques he provided were very helpful! It might seem intimidating to make these meals from complete scratch (we didn't use green chili paste from a jar, rather we made it all from scratch ourselves), but he broke it down into phases that made it so easy to not only do for the class, but remember for us to replicate at home, which we plan on doing! He also sent recipes afterwards to ensure we had the "instructions" to do this on our own, especially coupled with the skills he taught us. In the end, we had one heck of an amazing Thai feast! Chef Matt also made us all some outstanding Thai Tea! We had such an amazing time... we highly recommend scheduling a class with him... such an amazing experience! So much so, that we're looking forward to returning in a couple of years when we schedule our next Napa trip!

The Cioppino class was well worth the wait. I waited a few months to take this class. I seem to learn something new with each class. The cIoppinno preparation was so easy I really was amazed that I learned so much. Chef Sandy and Chef Matt made sure they answered everyone's questions as well extremely supportive. I have yet to be disappointed. This is my third class and I have to admit I am looking forward to the next class. Their new kitchen is beautiful and bright. All new stoves. Each student has their own stove top. Impressive.

Took a pasta making class today, so much fun and informative. Chefs Sandy and Matt were great, the space is light and airy, and we successfully made variously shaped pasta!

Highly recommend!! I learned, I played, I devoured and fully enjoyed!! So much fun!! We took the pasta making class for my girls getaway, birthday weekend. Matt and his team were really accommodating in helping us secure spots for all the girls, even a last-minute spot. This cooking class was the highlight of our trip as it allowed us to learn some new cooking skills, understand better how ingredients work together and most important, we had so much fun making pasta together! Both chefs made it really informal, fun and education educational. At the end of the lesson, we all enjoyed a three course meal together with a creative mocktail. I believe participants can also bring their own adult beverages to enjoy during the lesson or with the meal. I really liked the intimate class size of 6 to 8, as the chefs have time to work closely with the participants, make sure we're on track and answer questions. They also do larger classes as well as virtual classes. I can definitely understand why they won best date night and team events awards! I can't wait to go back for couples date night and am considering using for my work team building event.

Had a fantastic class on sauces. It was so much fun and the cooking hints were outstanding and very relatable!! They both taught us things that we could take home and do it our leisure and make our cooking easier. Thank you Sandy Sauter and Matt Dailey for the incredible experience

    Brunch class

I have taken two classes now with Playte Kitchen and both were so fun! I took the brunch class with my girlfriends, where Chef Sandy as the lead coach and Chef Matt assisting. Both were so knowledgeable and guided us through brunch. We learned how to make scones, migas, salsa verde, salad, and a mocktail. At the end of class, we all sat down and ate what we cooked together. Chef Sandy and Matt were kind enough to let us hang out longer too since it was my birthday celebration and a girls' much needed day out. I took the FUN-damentals class with my husband and it was good to see Chef Sandy again as our culinary coach. We had fun learning to make sautéed chicken piccata, rice pilaf, roasted broccoli, and salad. At the end of class, we sat down with Chef Sandy to enjoy the meal we made. I really appreciate the class format where the chefs demo a portion and then we go and practice what we just learned. They teach us pro tips, knife skills, kitchen safety, time management in getting the meal done, and how to have fun in a home kitchen setting. They really help build your confidence in the kitchen and make things easy to approach. The best part is Chef Sandy and Chef Matt are so personable, funny, entertaining, and just good people! Can't wait to take more classes in 2026!

Farmers Market cooking class was amazing. Chef Sandy was terrific. Highly recommend taking a class. I will be going back for another session next time I'm in Napa.

Fun and fantastic! My friend and I took our first class at Playte and had a great time. Chef Matt is an incredible teacher: he is patient, helpful, and clearly a talented professional. The instructions were clear, and I felt we had enough activity, but we were not overwhelmed. The class was an excellent value for the high level of instruction, the quality ingredients, and the food we made (and got to take home after the class!). Everything was very clean, and the small class size I'm sure we all received time with chef. I highly recommend this class to individuals just starting cooking, as well as those who have more experience in their home kitchens. Thank you again, team Playte, for a great experience!

I attended the Thai Cooking Class to make Mango Sticky Rice, Pad See Ew and Green Curry. This was 100% an amazing experience! The instructor was definitely passionate and super excited that he found Thai eggplant for our green curry! My favorite part was making the curry in this class, it's the most work to make the paste from scratch and will have you appreciate Thai food even more. This is one of the few ways to get Asian food in Napa lol I have never taken a cooking class prior and wasn't too into the idea initially to be honest. It's nice to have the convenience of not shopping for ingredients along with not washing dishes. This class actually made me change my mind and now I'm looking forward to any future cooking classes that come my way.

Just got done doing the Argentinian Empanada class with chefs Matt and Sandy. Absolute great time and the food was so good. Give them a try, you will love it!!

wow -what a fun experience! Pasta making and Bolognese ! ribg a bottle of wine for a fantastic evening thanks to Matt!

50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration…read more We recently decided to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary with a family dinner party and to mark the occasion with something truly special: hiring a private chef for the very first time. This turned out to be one of the best decisions we have ever made. Immediately after contacting Chef Camille Jeanty, her calm professionalism and genuine warmth immediately put us at ease. She took the time to understand our vision for the evening and even did a walkthrough to familiarize herself with our home and setup. She then created a stunning menu that perfectly matched our preferences, including a separate menu for our young grandkids! The evening was magical... every course was delicious with a real standout being the handmade Pappardelle Alfredo which prompted several requests for seconds! It was such a wonderfully relaxed, unhurried meal ... just what our "Italian vision" had imagined! What truly set this experience apart was Camille's individualized touch offering her bespoke dinnerware, beautifully curated flower centerpieces from a local Napa Farmer and even including a lovely, printed menu for each of our guests. It is also worth mentioning that Camille's well-trained staff were extremely personable as well as attentive! Our guests were raving, and we felt so pampered and celebrated. If you are considering a private chef for a special occasion, we wholeheartedly recommend Chef Camille Jeanty and her wonderful staff. Truthfully, they felt like family, and we gave them 5 Stars from start to finish! They helped turn our golden anniversary into a golden memory!

We tried calling the phone number multiple times and no one picked up. Also, knocked several times. Two other people arrived as well who tried knocking and calling to no avail. We waited until 3:45 until we gave up and left. After we left, we received an email saying we had been refunded and at the bottom of the receipt it said "We apologize as this order did not show up on our calendar until today. We look forward to hosting you in the future. Thank you, Sheana" (see attached screenshot). I think this is deeply unprofessional on so many levels. Even if the reservation had only shown up today on their calendar (despite us booking it several weeks prior) and they weren't prepared, they had all the time before 3pm to reach out via email or phonecall to say they couldn't make the class. They didn't even try reaching out and instead we received a refund after the scheduled class time. Lack of communication is such a bummer considering we set aside a couple hours for this and we were so excited. Also, this is located in Sonoma which means it's out of the way for people who are visiting Napa and its vineyards. That's typically not an issue but considering we had to drive out the way and we got cancelled on after we waited for them is where it is an issue. Deeply unprofessional situation and hope they improve on communication soon.

I initially booked an olive oil tasting but later discovered that it was more of an educational thing where you have to sit in a room. With a baby and a dog , I was hoping we can just enjoy that outdoors but they weren't able to accommodate. I hope sometime in the future they can change that . Instead of the olive oil tasting , I decided to have lunch outdoors. It was such a beautiful day and a tad windy . We started with some cocktails. Pomegranate Margarita : 5/5 it was the perfect blend of tangy , slightly sweet and the salt rim balanced all the flavors nicely. Also , it was pretty strong . Charcuterie $45 : Wow the presentation for this charcuterie was beautiful . Everything on the board was yummy and was a nice snack for grazing and enjoying it with the cocktail . I really liked the sweet walnuts , olives , wagyu sausage , pickled carrots , cauliflower , & the fig jam . 5/5 French onion soup $20 : I never really think to get a french onion soup but I was convinced that this was the best thing ever .. and guess what ?! It was !! This was probably the best french onion soup i've ever had . It was super rich , savory , and slightly sweet from the carmelized onions . It also had some delicious melted gruyère cheese that was oozing with the soup . The puff pastry on top was soo good . It was nice and comforting . 5/5 Prosciutto and Brie $30 : Dare I say this was probably one of the tastiest sandwiches ever ?! I can't believe prosciutto and brie can taste this good . The combination of garlic aioli , pickled shallots , red onions with farm greens mixed in the sandwich really brought out all the flavors. The only downside is for the portion idk if it justifies the price 4.5 /5 Ordered a special Pre fixe menu that came with farm salad with Quinoa + Olive oil icecream puff pastry dessert $30 + 10 salmon add on to salad . Salmon quinoa salad : This dish was super simple but the fish was cooked to perfection . It was super moist and the quinoa was fluffy and the salad was nicely dressed . 5/5 We had a great time and the food was fantastic. I'm really happy this place was dog friendly and family friendly. It's so hard finding places that accommodate both . Service was great . Luis did a good job on making sure we were taken care of . He was always checking in on us during our meal and was even whispering when the baby was napping . A+ service . Overall this place is a hidden gem . It's a tad pricey for lunch but the quality and service makes it worth it . We will definitely be back again to try the other delicious foods !
