As I was heading back to the square (where there is an abundance of restaurants), I didn't want the busyness of the scene; thankfully, I got on Instagram, typed "good eats in Sonoma", and BAM! Salumeria Ovello popped up on my feed, and thank goodness it did! An easy 4-minute walk from Vallejo House, Salumeria Ovello is owned by Andrea, who is a Michelin-star chef from the area of Piedmont, Italy. Having been to Italy twice this past year alone, I remember quite well the quality and taste of the classed Italian Sandwiches. The worker who served at the counter was very helpful, and within the restaurant --- there are just a few seats. I'd say, 3 tables with two seats at each table. For my food, I decided to order the Massimo --- which is on "sliced Focaccia, and has sun dried tomatoes, stracciatella di burrata, prosciutto cotto, basil pesto and crumbled taralli (crackers)". Each sandwich is made fresh-to-order, and you can taste the quality. Each ingredient worked together in harmony, and to satisfy the americani in me, I definitely enjoyed the taralli in the sandwich --- reminded me of putting chips in my sandwiches in school. While I waited, Andrea also brought out some slices of salami for me to try --- free of charge, which was very kind of him to do. All in all, if you want to get away from the busyness of the Mission Square, take a 4-minute walk to Salumeria Ovello, and you'll find a little piece of Italy in Sonoma! Ciao tutti!

There is fresh fruit and veggies, and food vendors selling things like corn dogs and fresh bread. It seems as if all the locals converge to the square for this weekly event. It was very crowded and during COVID, there wasn't much distancing or mask wearing going on. And I'm sure not all of these folks are vaccinated. Bathrooms available but as usual the ladies room had a long line formed outside. A jazz band played on the main stage and people crowded in to listen and dance around. We saw lots of drinking and making out, but nothing sketchy. Lots of families with kids running around. Overall, a fun way to spend your evening if you love a lively environment and aren't worried about the delta variant/Covid. But if you just want to buy veggies and fresh goods, I suggest coming very early on, getting your goods and get out before they begin wildin' out.

I walked into Nob Hill Foods earlier to do a little grocery shopping. I had my list to get what I…read moreneeded. However, there was a vendor from Sonoma Gourmet who asked me if I would like to sample their EVOO in four different flavors - sassy roasted chiles, groovy orange, smooth basil parmesan and primo garlic and herbs. I tried all four EVOO's with chunks of French bread. All EVOO's were excellent and each had its own distinct flavor. The vendor also gave me three one dollar coupons. The decision to select which EVOO to purchase first was not an easy one because I like them all. I could not purchase all four flavors, and then have a heavy load of groceries to carry home via a bus ride. Because my mind was on some roasted red potatoes and other roasted veggies, the garlic and herbs EVOO was what I purchased. I was so excited about this purchase that I completely forgot to use the coupon. The EVOO's are in dark bottles to maintain its freshness, and best thing of all they are non-GMO verified. Nob Hill Foods will be selling this product soon. I'm glad the vendor stopped me in my track to sample their ware. After reading another yelpers review, I found out Sonoma Gourmet also sell pasta sauce. Okay, I will have to do a Google search on the pasta sauce.

Just tried the Sonoma Veggie sauce that I found on a HOT day at Jensens in Palm Desert. I usually…read moremake my own but this was the quick way to grill some sausages and add some sauce I was recommended to try when it is so hot outside. Added it to Luigi Vatelli Rigatoni pasta, baked in a grill pan for about 10 minutes then added some smoky shredded Mozzarella on top and WOW. Just like the best Italian places! I will definitely try the other Sauce versions and highly recommend to my friends.
