I've been to Ram's Gate a handful of times and have always had memorable experiences, but this visit truly stood out thanks to Manya. She went above and beyond in every way. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about the wine offerings and the property, but she took extra care to make us feel genuinely special and well taken care of. Her warmth, attention to detail, and passion elevated the entire experience. Out of the many tastings we've done, this was by far the most memorable. Can't say thank you enough - Monya you were fantastic! One last thing... the fireplaces and the Christmas decor was just incredible! walked into the most gorgeous winery today--WOW. It felt like a scene from a movie. The setting was absolutely stunning, with peaceful vineyards and a serene atmosphere. We tasted delicious wines while enjoying fresh, farm-to-table vegetables. Paul was fantastic--warm, knowledgeable, and full of personal stories that made the experience feel special. Now this is a beautiful setting for wine tasting. Plenty of outdoor seating, a little noisy at times because of the race track nearby. They have Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as their main wines. This was my first time for most of my group and we had the best time here. So, if you've never been, this is a place you definitely need to try. We were greeted with wine, took a quick tour around the winery. Chris welcomed all of our questions and I learned so much in so little time about wine. The decor is beautiful and really brought the outdoors inside. The pairing of the food and wine is amazing. I honestly felt mind blown about how well the wine and food complimented each other. My utmost compliments to Chef Ruby. I feel so lucky to have been able to meet her. She is very friendly and made all of us laugh with her great sense of humor. I could not say enough great things about how great the menu was and how wonderful everything tasted. It was so good that the first thing I thought of when I woke up was the duck breast. When you're done with dinner, you can purchase the wine, and the best part is they even do shipping. I normally don't even like wine all that much, but this place changed my mind because I bought 3 bottles. So take advantage! The location is easy to find, there's sign so you don't get lost, and lots of space to park. The rest of the hosts and servers were all super nice and friendly as well. In the ladies restroom, there are two stalls, very clean, and actually really nice Thank you for Ram's Gate Winery for such an amazing experience for me and my friends. The views are great. The wine is better than average. The hidden fees are bs. If you need to pay your employees more to meet a "living wage", then do that. Raise the prices if you need to. I can decide if your product is still worth it. Don't sneak in a hidden fee at the end because you don't pay your employees enough to meet a living wage. Be upfront about your pricing. read more

We were welcomed with a glass of their rose and then we're sat on the patio to do their seated wine tasting that had a variety of estate and single vineyard wines. Right off the gate I liked that the wine associate asked us what kind of wines we particularly liked, and if we wanted to switch out anything before the tasting even started, which we did and added a cab to the flight. The decor is beautiful the interior designer they hired worked at Restoration Hardware so it gives that vibe. You can see the Sonoma, Raceway and Highway 37 from the distance. Beautiful grounds. Attentive service. Easy access from East Bay as it is right at the beginning of Sonoma off the 37. Lovely views of the vineyard and a large indoor / outdoor area. Really love the look and feel of this winery - classic, rustic, but upscale. Did the wine and food pairing. VERY affordable for the amount of food you get compared to other wine / food pairing menus in Napa. After tips came to ~$140 for each person where I know other menus start closer to $200. The chef personally greeted us and gave us an introduction to the menu. The food was excellent and quite nicely portioned. Squid ink pasta with poached egg; mushroom risotto; pork; burrata; ceviche bites. The menu is seasonal and changes quarterly. Wine pairing was decent as well; the wines were not as good as the food but paired well and the wines are at good price points compared to other wineries. I would certainly go a food pairing again here; wine tasting more so only because the grounds are so pretty but not because the wines are super tasty. read more

We come here a lot - living close by and being wine club members make it super convenient to visit. The winery is spectacular and the views are amazing. We have had several experiences at Ram's Gate, all of them exemplary. Firstly, we visit for wine tasting, club pickups and snacks quite regularly. We are often taken care of by Paul or Maya. Paul is super nice, knowledgeable, friendly and will take great care of you. Maya is also fantastic and quite possibly exudes the most enthusiasm about food and wine of anyone I have ever met. You'll see... We have also visited for the food and wine tasting menu which was excellent and delivered by Maya - the whole experience was great! Finally, we have also hosted a private party and again, the experience was amazing. Thank you Haley and Aram (hope I got that right) for the service and also Tish for organizing. Beautiful vineyard. Came here for the food and wine pairing and it didn't disappoint! Service was excellent since the sommelier was attentive. Loved the buchon chardonnay since it was so buttery. Bamboo risotto was very clean without coming off too fatty. Carrot soup was comforting and the chef said it was vegan friendly. Pork belly was executed well with crispy rice and skin with tender pork belly. Poached pear at the end was the perfect bite. Also got to meet the chef at the end who is a Filipina. My husband and I came one weekend during the pandemic for fun and loved it so much that we bought a membership. It is truly like "Cheers" here where everyone knows our name and is glad we came :) They are always getting creative with events and the charcuterie board is AMAZING. We heard great things about their wine and food pairing. It's a little pricier than the other wine and food pairings in Sonoma but we are glad we tried. They were very generous on the wine pours. Especially that we had to wait 30 minutes for some other people to show up. It's a group setting so please don't be rude and late. The sparkling wine was extra good. Pinots we liked. The Chardonnay's not so much. The Sauvignon cab was great, reminded me of Merry Edwards. As for the food pairings. It's $110 with wine tasting it totals $160. I would give it a 3/5. It's okay. Some things I didn't understand or it needed some more seasoning. We had a SB vanilla prawn dish, the prawns were fresh just need some salt added. The whipped burrata salad was weirdly presented. Not sure if I enjoyed it, bland too. Oyster dish was good but it was presented in a bowl that looked like a urinal. And the Muscovy duck was dry, flavorless and tough. Mine was cooked fine but my husband was over cooked. We did like the eggs, bacon and toast. Pork belly was great! No desserts in this tasting menu. Our server was super friendly! Venue: Beautiful. A great combination of rustic, elegance, and modern flare. I love the old barn house look, think Walking Dead, but inside is spacious and not too pretentious. It's a little dark even in the daytime, but the right company and meal will lighten things up! Wine flight: I'm not a big wine drinker and even if I try to be, I usually go for reds. This time a tried a flight of whites and it was refreshing, light, easy to drink. Pleasantly surprised! We became Club Members when they first opened in 2011 and have always had a most memorable visit each time we stop for a tasting, wine dinner, or party. Impressive wines, bites and tasting room staff! The architecture and setting are exceptional. We LOVE the vintage Cheers greeting and from that we have the feeling of being welcomed as not just club members but as family. The kitchen produces gorgeous bites that pair so perfectly with each delicious wine. The wine guides do a wonderful job of introducing each varietal and vintage. We visited the Carneros wine region and Ram's Gate Winery several years ago, without a reservation, and as busy as they were, they were able to accommodate us for a tasting. We fell in love with their Chardonnays and purchased several, which really laid down well in our cellar, so we stopped in again on our most recent trip and had another wonderful experience. $50/guest for a 5 flight tasting (waived with any 3 bottle purchase). SERVICE: We were the first to arrive and got seated out on the patio overlooking the vineyards and valley floor below. Wonderful views and even more wonderful service. Luis poured for us and was an absolute delight. He did a great job explaining each wine and timing out the tastings so as to not feel rushed. High marks! WINES: Ram's Gate Chardonnays used to be big, oaky, and buttery, just what we love. Unfortunately, they've moved away from that style and gone to a dryer, more acidic stainless steel aged wine. We didn't care for them as much as in the past, but we found several others we enjoyed, including a 2019 Estate Sauvignon Blanc, a 2018 Robert's Road Vineyard Pinot Noir, a 2017 Berler Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. We took home a bottle of each. They also offer a 5 course wine and food pairing experience, but we did not partake on this visit. I always say that wines are subjective to an individual's taste, but service should not be. Ram.s Gate wines are well made, and the service is excellent. I highly recommend you pay them a visit when you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. Reservations are recommended. read more

We called ahead the day before to make reservations for our party of 2. Our wine tasting was at 2:30 on a Thursday. They ask for a 1/2 of the wine tasting price per person as a deposit. According to the website, wine tastings are $50 per person. We were offered to do the food pairing, which was an additional $110 per person. So we only did the wine tasting and even that wasn't worth it. The wine was just okay. The pours were generous, but if the wine ain't good, the size of the pours doesn't matter. Aaron was our sommelier and he was great. We stayed there for 2 hours and did not feel rushed at all. We had a good seat with a nice view. The squeaking of the plastic covering on the roof took away from the ambiance when the wind was blowing really hard. Here's what was especially disappointing to me. We got our check and there was a 5% "Livable Wage and Healthcare Coverage Surcharge." It's not even a set amount, it's 5% of your overall bill, on top of tax! That should be included on the price that I signed up for, not in addition. You can argue that 5% isn't that much, but it's the principle of it. If we had racked up a $320 bill (had we done the food pairing), 5% is not an insignificant amount. They need to be honest about their pricing. We do not recommend. read more

I would very happily return again! We were on our way up the coast for a weekend vacation with friends when we thought on a whim that we'd do a little wine tasting. We had a few hours to kill before checking in, and we passed Ram's Gate on our way up to Napa. We thought it looked intriguing, and I just thought I'd give them a call to see if they might be able to squeeze us in with no reservation. The person on the phone (a feminine voice) said that they totally could if we hurried over, but let me know they were pretty booked today. I assured them we were right down the street and they told us to come on by! There was a complimentary EV charging station which was much appreciated. We walked over to the host desk and let them know we had called ahead. They knew precisely who we were and brought us directly over to a table. Casey was our wine expert and he was attentive, thoughtful, and made us feel really welcome. The pours were generous, and though not every wine was something I would pick, I absolutely loved their sparkling brut rose and their Gap's Crown pinot noir. We opted for their basic tasting, $60 a person. It was a bit pricey, but I didn't mind. I loved the view, and the weather was perfect. We were also in no way at all rushed out. We felt very encouraged to languidly sip our wines, enjoying the garden/vineyard view and the tasting room. Now, let me tell you, I would have most certainly dressed up had I known what we were up to today. Needless to say, I looked horrible! LOL. I had just dropped off my beloved bunnies for weekend boarding (not an occasion I wear my best clothes for) and as such, I was in yoga pants, a hoodie, and old trainers, no makeup and hair a mess. The staff didn't bat an eye (but another table gave me judgy looks lol). I really appreciated feeling welcomed despite my looking like sh*t (seriously, THANK YOU, I promise I won't do that again). There isn't a clearly defined dress code as far as I know, but I was severely underdressed and I like making an effort when we're doing something a little luxurious. Therefore, I felt extra welcome and I am extra appreciative for not being judged by what I was wearing. Please do give them your business, it's deserved! read more

One of my Christmas gifts for my husband this year was a seasonal wine & food pairing at Ram's Gate Winery in Sonoma. Today we braved the weather and headed to wine country for our culinary excursion and it did not disappoint!! The winery is beautiful, the service was impeccable (thanks, Mercedes!) and though our experience was supposed to be at a communal table, since everyone else canceled, we were seated in a private room instead! Each dish was delicious, creative and beautifully presented and the chef came out to introduce herself at the end of our meal. I have a feeling this will become a regular seasonal excursion for us! Beautiful winery with delicious chardonnays and pinot noirs! My favorite were the chardonnays. This place is best experienced with a reservation ahead of time. The weather was perfect this weekend.. the seating area is beautiful and has a serene environment. If you are seated inside, it is has a bit more of a buzz with more parties and a louder environment. U can take a walk down the vineyard and take a seat next to a small lake/pond and drink as well. I believe there r two levels to the tasting menu, we did the first level which comes with 2 chardonnays and 2 pinot noirs. I think this was $40 for each person. And i think there is reservation/seating fee? My friend booked this so i'm not sure. There were parties booked and u could book out a part of the rooms... that seemed fun and cool! Anyways, had a good time, the servers were well informed of the wines and this winery only makes a certaIn amount of wines a year and is funded by members. Anyway, I brought out of town guests here, and the property is stunning. Does the tasting fee of $40 justify the wines, probably not, and definitely not 30+ years ago. Don't make the rookie mistake of visiting on raceway weekends, escape to SF for cooler weather and dim sum! My girlfriend and I snagged an indoor seat facing the outdoor patio and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Ram's Gate is quite stylized and a beautiful space, so there's a lot of things to catch your eye while enjoying your wine. But, really, I can't stop thinking of the charcuterie plate ($34). Do yourself a favor and get it - no matter what you're drinking. It's hearty and includes a lot of variety. They'll bring you extra crackers, too! My friend and I split the Getaway Tasting, which was $40 for 4 wines (2 chardonnay, 2 pinot noir). They were generous with the pours, and our waiter paced the tasting well. Definitely take some time to walk down to the small pond through the vineyards. There's some space at the bottom of the shallow hill, too, to gather with friends. The bottle prices were a bit too steep for me, but it was definitely a pleasant and memorable tasting. read more
