Had the chance to stop in for a tasting a bit ago and was impressed to be honest. Out of all the years I have resided, I have actually never stepped into this hotel, so actually was excited to see the inside. Lets just say it did not disappoint and really matches the general aesthetics of the rest of the Sonoma square. Fast forward to the tasting, a standard format of regional wines most are accustomed to seeing. Price point for all of them were on point, so no complaints there, but the tasting was a little higher than most around on the square, but then again you are downtown, so there is that. Overall I enjoyed all of the wine, but opted to not try the Chardonnay due to not being an overall fan of the varietal. Host was extremely generous as well, so three cheers on that front. Top it off with a ton of food options nearby and it makes it an easy choice for future visits or other first timers. read more

Very nice spot right on the Sonoma square. We sat next to the fireplace and it was so cozy! Our waiter Joe was very friendly and accommodating since we had 2 kids with us. Wine is very good they have some Ledson wines but mostly Zina Hyde ones. The petite Syrah was my favorite very bold but easy to sip on and drink. Prices are very reasonable for bottles and tasting plus you can't beat that is in right downtown. Will definitely come again. read more

I had the unexpected best time at Zina Hyde Cunningham Winery located inside of the Ledson Hotel on the evening of Saturday, March 23rd. Myself and two friends popped in for a quick glass of wine before our dinner reservations over at The Depot Hotel Restaurant and it's safe to say it was one of our better decisions during our trip! When we walked into the Ledson Hotel, it was basically empty, aside from Todd - the man, the myth, the legend - who welcomed us and got us three glasses of wine. He engaged in conversation with us, tried on our fascinators and sparkly jackets, and was such a good sport. He was able to tell us about the hotel and the building overall. I was slightly disappointed to find out the building was actually quite new and the old, historic looking aesthetics weren't actually old. I would definitely visit Zina Hyde Cunningham Winery again because it's a beautiful space, decent wine, and excellent service. Thank you Todd for making our day! Picturesque outside seating, great wine, nice servers means an amazing time in Sonoma! This Winery is located in the Ledson Hotel in downtown Sonoma. They are only open for outdoor seating but the outside seating is large and spacious. It's fun people watching and tasting wines. Our waitress was so kind and knowledgeable about wine--she's a sommelier! What we tasted: - Chardonnay Reserve: My favorite! Crisp with apple flavors. - Pinot Noir: I like this one because it is fruity! - Carigane: Pretty tart, but still enjoyable - Merlot: Decent red but not my favorite - Cabernet Sauvignon: My least favorite one because I don't like reds but my friends who love reds like it! This place is a perfect place to enjoy local wines and enjoy the atmosphere of Sonoma Square. It's a beautiful hotel and wine bar rich with history. If you have the chance, ask to be seated with Maggie! She is an expert all things wine and spirits, and makes you feel right at home as you enjoy the vineyard's locally made boutique wines. We showed up unannounced with just a hope and a prayer. Lucky for us, they were able to accommodate me and my husband for a wine tasting. Phew! Brandon was our guy, gave us wine and tons of info on each of them, also recommended the next spot for us (Jay at Cachon, see that review please!). He was super cool, very chatty, even shared info about our drive down the coast. He was the host with the most. Now onto the wine. Delicious. Almost as amazing as our host. We had a flight, mostly reds and ended up purchasing two bottle thanks to the info and welcoming of our host Brandon. 5 stars, A+, would highly recommend. Wow, wow! What a charming little find at the gorgeous Ledson Hotel (in downtown Sonoma right on the square next to the historic Sebastiani Theater)! Every one of the 5 wines in the ZHC wine flight we tasted were excellent. I have a picky palate and usually only end up liking one or two of a five-flight run, but these wines were truly tasty and perfectly described in their brilliantly written flight description! We bought two bottles to take home to add to our growing stash. Todd was fun to chat with and his knowledge of all-things-Ledson was pretty impressive. While visiting Sonoma square from Napa valley my husband and I walked by this beautiful establishment ! We did not have a reservation so when I walked up to the counter the nice gentleman said that since he had a couple of cancellations he could serve us a glass of wine or a flight ! We chose the flight - the gentleman was also very informative! The service we received from this young man was amazing - the wine was tasty and reasonably priced too - I highly recommend this fine establishment while in Sonoma square ! read more

I had a lovely time here with three friends and we enjoyed the 6 course pairing menu. All of us eat pretty much anything so we were not picky and really enjoyed the food and the wine. We had done some tasting locally in the afternoon so this was a lovely post tour dinner. I am really disappointed in the experience I had at this wine tasting room on New Year's Eve. My boyfriend and I were enjoying some bubbles on their front patio and I went inside to use their restroom. It was at that moment that a female worker came up to me and informed me that there were public restrooms across the way that I could use. And then I informed her that I was actually a customer who was having a nice experience. Unfortunately, this unpleasant interaction left me disappointed and don't think I will be returning to this one. read more

My husband and I just had the pleasure of dining at the Zina Lounge in the stunning Ledson Hotel. What a wonderful experience! We had the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings and they were fabulous! The portions were large and they all paired perfectly with the various wines we were served. The chef, Yoshiharu Sogi, is very talented and it was demonstrated dish after dish. Wine Steward, Todd Lake, was so friendly, funny, and knowledgeable we wanted him to pull up a chair and have dinner with us. The team, service and hospitality, the food and wine, and the beautiful setting made our experience top notch and we already look forward to an opportunity to return. This is a very boutique wine operation. They make 1-3 barrels of the wines and the quality REALLY shows through. The Reserve Pinot was a real beast. Bought 1/2 case and will not share with others. Beautiful tasting room, comfortable seating lots to look at, awards are impressive. Small charge for tasting, but it can be split between people and the pours are generous and repeated. Serious wine drinkers, wake up! THIS IS A REALLY GREAT PLACE FOR WINES. The host was someone who actually works the vineyards and was cutting vines the week before. Knowledgeable and helpful, personable and polite. These are the characteristics of the Valley. Napa and Sonoma, you have been overtaken by kind and generous people of Anderson Valley. Don't go next door to Londer, as their stuff will make you gag and the person there is rude and doesn't care for her job. read more

I'm surprised there's only 5 reviews for this place! We were a party of 6 and came here for birthday dinner. Everything about this place was just spot on. I'd definitely make this a regular spot for my yearly Sonoma trip. Pros: Intimate dining room, beautifully decorated. It felt like they shut down the whole place just for us! Great price for dinner food/wine pairing. Amazing wine and food. Personable host and chef. He even came out at the end of the dinner to talk to us! What a great spot in Anderson Valley! I am so glad we stopped. We really enjoyed the wines and can really taste the craftsmanship that goes into the wines. We ended up purchasing the Zinfandel. Here is the description I pulled from the website: Complex flavors of raspberries, boysenberries and black peppercorns are balanced by soft tannins and a spicy finish that perfectly complements almost anything from the grill. What is great about the wineries in this region is they are family owned and run. It isn't the Disney land of major corporate wineries like St. Helen. So cheers my friends! Enjoy! read more

Headed up north today to Zina Hyde for the Mushroom and Wine pairing and had a great visit. Zina Hyde was participating in this great event and donating all the money made to the local school district. Double Yes...I love a company that gives back to the community. The wine was great and the food pairings made the experience even better. I loved the whites...mmmmm good. We were served in a semi-private tasting room off the main room which was very pleasant. Several groups came in and out while we were visiting and everyone was enjoying the vino and the company. Chenoa (the GM) was pouring and pairing today, engaging with the groups at the bar, and very knowledgeable regarding their wines. A mixed group of tasters...very down to earth tasting room. Zina Hyde was not snooty or pretentiousness, living in the wine country, this was a charming change of pace. First visit to Boonville in years...and the town is cooler than I remembered but sad to see the pub was gone :( Zina Hyde is about 1 hour north of Santa Rosa and worth every mile. read more

Its better than Ledson...I will give them that. The tasting room has a very saloon sort of feel. I visited last January on a raining week day. I was probably the second person of the whole day. Zina Hyde produces 2,500 cases a year and produces over 10 different varietals. I tasted 9 different wines and each has its own style. I really enjoyed their "Cepage" from Lake County 51% Petite Verdot, 40% Merlot, and 9% Malbec with nice dark fruit, caramelized on the palette, very nice food wine. Our pourer was nice, but really not personal at all. I'm glad I check it out, I might revisit in the future. read more

With their tasting room placed right in the heart of town in the old train station, this is a fun place to stop in and try some wines. They have some great bottles from their many fields - though the Carignane stood out for me and found its way into my cellar along with a few other items. They were also extremely informative and really explained their wine making process, Anderson Valley, and Boontling (local language). Its become the first stop on every trip we make north to Anderson Valley and I highly recommend it for anyone else too. read more

I had heard of Zina Hyde many moons ago, but cannot recall if I had tried their wines. So, now was my chance! I'm a big fan of Steve Ledson's wines. He's a hardcore wine cowboy who simply doesn't take shit from anyone, knows his wines are fantastic whether they are popular or not and he's just such a spitfire, I love a confident wine guy and this man is it! Zina Hyde didn't disappoint. By this time though, I was feeling a lil blurry from the previous tastings of the day and mainly talkin smack with the winetender since I knew a lil back stories to the Zina Hyde story. She was very sweet, inviting and shared tales that were entertaining about the surrounding area. The interior of the place was lush and felt like a small mansion. Even the bathroom was lush and comfy. I was excited to see the Orange Muscat on the list, but sad to hear that Zina Hyde was about to stop producing dessert wines in the future... boo! So we grabbed one of those without hesitation. A great lil winery with a really big feel. Zina Hyde's wines are delectable and I highly recommend to anyone on a wine-trek in this area. read more

Truly horrendous service! My boyfriend and I went with 2 friends to try to do the wine tasting. My boyfriend had a broken leg but, despite the room being entirely empty, we were told that we could only stand at the bar and weren't allowed to sit at the tables. The opposite of Sonoma charm. My in-laws enjoyed their meal here so much that they gifted a meal to my husband and me. We, too, stayed upstairs in the hotel and enjoyed this private dining experience. I've never been the sole diner in an establishment before and it felt like the dining equivalent of flying a private jet! I wrote a full review on Chowhound, which I'm not going to repeat here, but let me share a few main points. We've dined in some of the most well-regarded gourmet restaurants (e.g., Daniel, Jean-Georges, Le Bernardin, Eleven Madison Park, Meadowood, French Laundry, Manresa, etc.) that are at much higher price points so I came in with lower expectations for Zina Lounge. Yet I was incredibly impressed by this meal. I had a few quibbles, but overall I would rate this a "must-do" and plan to return to enjoy it again. Chef Yoshiharu Sogi prepares a multi-course seasonal menu that he's designed to flatter Zina Hyde Cunningham and Ledson wines. They market it as a "Private Wine and Food Pairing." The general manager, Todd Lake, serves as sommelier/waiter. The "restaurant" is really just a few tables in the lobby of the Ledson Hotel in Sonoma. Chef is very talented and showcased his skill in both preparing excellent courses and in pairing them with Ledson wines. We will definitely be back to try his seasonal spring menu. This was a 6 course meal (5 savory items and 1 dessert) plus wine pairings for $150/diner. I believe it is an amazing value given the superb execution. The third course was the stand-out hit of the night: Soy Marinated Bodega Bay Black Cod, Cow Girl Creamery Mt Tam Ravioli, Slow Blanched Turnip, in a Sweet Soy Cranberry Sauce. The Black Cod was cooked perfectly--perhaps one of the best fish entrees we have ever had (I'm looking at you, Le Bernardin!). The fish had exceptional flavor and was well-balanced, despite my initial hesitation when I heard it was paired with a sweet cranberry sauce. I will say that I found the Ravioli had a peculiar texture--I can't recall what Todd said about it but I think that Chef used a wonton skin instead of a traditional pasta. I'm not always a fan of fusion and I think in this case, I would have preferred a traditional ravioli. The fish was paired with a Zina Hyde Cunningham 2012 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, which had just the right body to stand up to the strong sauce. All in all, I strongly recommend this experience for those who love food and wine! read more

Very disappointing for the price. The food was so "fusion" that it was strange and did not go with the paired wines at all. The wines themselves were among the worst we tasted in 10 days of tastings throughout Napa and Sonoma. Lots of much better options in the area. The only benefit was that Zina is on Sonoma Square. The wines are excellent -- for instance, the Redwood Valley Old Wine is a great value red, or the 2012 Stagecoach which is simply fantastic -- and the room itself is absolutely beautiful. Loved the wines, but moreso, loved the pourer! Chenoa is the general manager and a doll. She is as spirited as the wines, cheery, social, and overall a joy. The wines were the best that I have tasted in the Anderson Valley as well; one even tasted like bacon (bacon + wine = match made in heaven).
