    Apples for days!!!
    Jordan G.

These are the best apples you will ever have! This is truly more of a warning - beware! for once you have tried one of these delicious Walker Apples, it will ruin all other apple encounters you will have in your life. You will forever be disappointed when you have any other apple than a Walker Apple. I'm the most excited for Walker Apples around harvest for Gravensteins! They're tart, sweet, crunchy - and great for everything! But especially apple turnovers, fritters, pies, cakes...did I already mention turnovers?!? But that's not all you can find here. They grow around 27 varieties of apples, and will let you taste every one if you have the time. Some of my favorites include the Golden Delicious, the Pink Lady, Pippins, the Northern Spy...but there are so many tasty ones to choose from, it's quite hard to go wrong. The family that works the ranch aren't just the sweetest people you'll ever meet, but are also very knowledgeable about their product; they can tell you what each apple is best used for (cooking, eating, baking, etc), what they taste like, when they are in season, how long they'll last, anything and everything one could ever want to know about apples. I know their prices can't be beat...so I would highly recommend that people stop by and see what they are all about! It's true what everyone else has said, you won't want another grocery store apple again after one of these ;D

A genuine Sonoma County original. This fourth generation family Apple Farm is like a visit to old Sonoma County. Our visit in early September, yielded orchard fresh Gala, Gravenstein, Golden Delicious, Jonathan, and McIntosh Apples. Very friendly and warm (family) staff.

    Awesome apples!

It's an apple farmstand off the beaten path. Be sure to pull behind the shed. Very nice owners. I wish they grew organic apples.

I've been going here for years now and they are the nicest most wonderful people who give good tours and have wonderful silly and snuggly baby goats! They give you real time with them and don't have a forced amount of time on each part of the tour - unlike Harley goat farm. You can skip the tour and just hung with the baby goats the whole time if you want! Also can come early or stay late depending on when if there's another tour that day. I get enough time with the baby goats - and I loooove baby goats so that's saying something! Bring a meal if you want to eat and hangout at their picnic tables. I've gotten to milk the goats a few times, feed the adults, be there for a goat birth (just happened while on the tour!), and have all the baby goat snuggles and silliness. Love the family farm, love the folks who run the baby goat tours/visits. Also a cute town to go into after for food, beverage, also wine tastings nearby. I recommend a second set of clothes to change into after in case you get dirty (goats are relatively clean, but they're goats so not like indoor pets. I let the baby goats climb all over me.)

While Dear Hubby and I were in Sonoma County for a quick trip, we had free time on Sunday to get out into the backroads and check out a few apple farms. Hale's is close to Santa Rosa, which made it convenient. They were decked out for Halloween, with various areas sporting giant spider figures, scarecrows, skeletons, and much more. Autumn décor, including pumpkins and apples were definitely part of the scene. Adjacent to their barn they had a station set up with very helpful staff offering samples of various varieties of apples. I loved that they had a number of the favorites I've experienced in SoCal's apple haven of Oak Glen (near Yucaipa). Yes, to Mutsu! Cameo! They also had others that I hadn't heard of, and already can't recall their names. Oh good, I found a chart online - Northern Spy is one I tried and bought. Sundance, maybe? Yikes! Hale's claims to grow 30 different varieties, and good for them. Good for you! An apple a day keeps the doctor away, as the old saying goes. No doctors for me for now - I'm enjoying usually one apple for breakfast and one for lunch. Hale's has kept me going for two weeks now. We especially enjoyed taking in their ambiance with my brother and sister-in-law, who live nearby, but hadn't been before. A great place to visit with family! If you're in the area, stop on by and enjoy the fresh air, the friendly folks helping you taste and purchase the goodness of Sonoma County fruit.

My kids had such a great time. Then we took a tour of the property, visiting the 7 month old kids, and then feeding the older goats with branches and leaves, which were a big treat for the goats since they normally eat hay so they were enthusiastic! We also saw the area where the goats are milked, got a few walnuts from the walnut tree, and walked around the garden. This is a fun tour for kids, and the whole experience took 55 minutes including lining up for hand washing before and after. We bought tickets several weeks in advance though I'm not sure if we needed to. It ended up being our party of 7 in one pen and a couple other guests in another, but they had several other pens available for the kids.
