She was available for a VERY last minute request: basically, I reached out a week before the wedding to see whether she could prepare 8-10 table vases, a bouquet, a boutonniere and possibly a headband for pickup. We had exchanged emails once before, months before, but then I just sorta flaked. Also, I live across the country from Jaime, so we had to do everything by phone/email/screenshots of what I liked, haha. I love flowers, especially the kind grown in local gardens and not airlifted from a different continent dipped in preservatives. So when it comes time to plan my wedding, I initially gravitated towards Devoto Gardens (they sell at the SF Ferry Bldg farmer's market) and they recommended Jaime to me. I'm so happy I chose Jaime as my wedding florist. I was initially drawn to her because of her use of only locally grown plants -- I wanted greenery that was natural and wild. But then she turned out to also be an incredibly flexible, easy, and smart vendor to work with. Jaime arranged the flowers for my wedding on August 25, 2012. Everything was spectacular!!! We had some unique requests for floral arrangements including leis for the bridesmaids (instead of bouquets) and a large chuppah, that couldn't use steaks in the ground given the property's policies. The leis turned out beautiful and Jaime was thoughtful about not having flowers that would cause irritation on the bridesmaid's skin. The chuppah was beautiful. Jaime constructed the chuppah from scratch to fit the requirements for our wedding. She draped the chuppah with white chiffon and then worked with my aunt to hang strings of origami cranes in the back. Can I say, we received so many compliments on how incredibly beautiful the chuppah was. I loved my bouquet as well, where Jaime fulfilled my desire for an organic, wildflower-y bouquet with lots of colors. It stood the test of time as well! But more than just that, Jaime was such a lovely person to work with. She was competent- always following up our conversations with detailed synopses of what she thought I wanted. She was eager to figure out what our vision was and really took our direction. I can say, I totally trusted whatever she was going to do and it turned out great! More than just that, Jaime was willing to work with our budget. In a world full of upselling, I can't tell you how much I appreciated that Jaime was respectful of our price range. Jamie was great to work with but I was ultimately very disappointed with all of the wearable flowers for my wedding. Instead of a bridal bouquet and 5 bridesmaids bouquets, we received 6 identical ones and they were wrapped in plain rubber bands, not ribbon. Luckily my crafty bridesmaids helped take them apart a few hours before the wedding and rebuild each bouquet to help mine feel a little more special, but it was unnecessarily stressful. I was also bummed about the flower hair comb she made me for $80 that had two tiny flowers on it. I ended up scrapping my original hair style idea and went with something else all together because I didn't want to wear it. However, the reception flowers were breathtaking and all the guests commented on how amazing they looked, so it made up for the other flowers. Very disappointing experience. We ordered a bouquet a week before our wedding ceremony. They said it was no problem and we should send them the photo we saw on their website. We sent it out the same day. 3 days later, we received an email, not a phone call, stating they can't make the arrangement the way we ordered. Jaime listened closely as my daughter described the color scheme of her wedding and her wish for the flowers to be in harmony with the natural setting of a wedding ceremony by the redwoods and a reception in an orchard. At the same time the flowers needed to be in sync with an Indian wedding. I sent her pictures of how a mandap (wedding canopy) would traditionally be decorated with marigolds in the part of India our family is from. Jaime pulled all these ideas together into the most exquisite flowers that hit every note perfectly. This included uniquely beautiful bouquets to complement the saris my daughter and the bridesmaids wore, delightful strings of marigolds draped to frame the wedding canopy, centerpieces we are still gazing at, and even perfect flowers to use in the traditional Indian ceremony. Jaime is amazing. Having the Monkey Flower Group do the flowers for my wedding and welcome party was one of the best decisions I made. I wanted a florist that I could trust to make my vision come to life, but that I didn't have to be extremely specific. When I talked to Jamie, I knew that she totally understood what I wanted. I wanted a lot of whites & greens, and I wanted the florals to be an extension of the beautiful landscape that my venue was in (it was a farm).
