I went on the wine/cannabis experience and had the best time! I'm not a huge marijuana user and I…read morehad never been to a dispensary before, so this was the perfect way to learn a bit more about cannabis and also go wine tasting around Sonoma County. We started off in San Francisco and stopped at Vista Point by the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a super clear day and we got great photos by the bay and bridge. Our guide poured us mimosas and we drove off to Sonoma County. He gave us an overview of the day and a little history before each stop! We went to three wineries and an awesome dispensary. All the wineries gave us great tastings along with the history and stories of their proprieties and wines. We also got an amazing lunch halfway through the day. At the dispensary stop, Solful, we got a really informative presentation from the owner where he taught us about the different components of cannabis and the different ways of consuming it. We got a booklet with all the information that we could take home with us. Everyone there was super helpful and I left with a couple bags of chocolates! Overall, this was a day very well spent and I highly recommend it! We met fun people, got to taste great wines, and left with bottles of wine, chocolates and a ton of new information about cannabis.

What an awesome day touring up to the beautiful Sonoma County…read more Even as a local, I learned so much and discovered some awesome new places. Great views at the Golden Gate Bridge before leaving SF. Then onto Sonoma County for some great breweries and a very informative stop at Soulful (a cannabis dispensary). The breweries were very welcoming and gave us a great look into the production process of some up and coming breweries. Our group was able to taste 3 brand new beers that haven't even been released yet! I loved at Henhouse when they let us try the same beer at 3 different stages to show the different tastes at different points in the brewing process. Lunch was delicious and we made a lot of new friends on the trip. Soulful have a great presentation about the different types of cannabis, the different properties they possess, and all the different types of products they have! Definitely a must the next time you are in Northern California or even a local wanting to something awesome on the weekend.

We had an absolutely incredible experience touring Sonoma and Napa with our wine-country concierge…read more and fixer Margo. She was exceptional from start to finish -- much more than a driver, professional, knowledgeable, personable, and incredibly well connected throughout wine country. She arranged and recommended some truly special experiences, including wonderful lunches, beautiful wineries, exclusive venues, and places we never would have discovered on our own. Just as importantly, her recommendations for the times we were exploring independently were spot-on. She struck the perfect balance: attentive without hovering, fun without ever being unprofessional, and always focused on making sure we had an amazing day. We enjoyed plenty of great wine along the way, and it was wonderful knowing we were in such capable hands. Her local knowledge, relationships, and patience with us made a great vacation genuinely unforgettable. We would recommend her without hesitation and absolutely hope to tour with her again the next time we are in Napa or Sonoma.

We started with UNTI, then headed to Capo Creek for a luncheon tasting extravaganza and finished off the day at Jaxon Keys. So, we were literally all over the place. After picking everyone up, our group went to Saddleback Cellars. This was a great vineyard to visit - we were seated right next to the beautiful fields and enjoyed sipping our wine while walking right next to the growing grapes! The lady working there was friendly and it was really nice learning more about the history of their vineyard. They've won several awards, and we could see why! These were some delicious wines. Next, we made our way to Merryvale Vineyards where we also stopped to have our boxed lunch. Their inside space was gorgeous and it was interesting learning about the barrel aging process. We enjoyed our tasting here too! We finished up at Backstage which was one of the highlights of the day - the wines we tasted were excellent and the seating area is just gorgeous, overlooking their beautiful vineyards. We decided to buy a bottle here and enjoyed it later during our trip. Platypus was a great choice for our tour - when I was searching for tour options online it was affordable for our group, had great reviews and I can see why! Army was excellent, I loved that they picked you up and dropped you back to your hotel, and the reduced rates for the tastings helped a lot too! On my next Napa visit I would definitely book with them again.

We've done a total of five Platypus Wine Tours -- four in Napa and one in Sonoma -- and have had a…read moregood experience overall. Some tours have been truly exceptional, while others have been more average. The guides have all been good, although some definitely stand out more than others. Ultimately, though, the biggest factor in the experience is the wineries you visit and how generous they are with their pours. You'll quickly learn what a "revisit" means on these tours. Most wineries are happy to pour you another taste, but some are surprisingly stingy and seem more interested in selling bottles than providing a memorable tasting experience. Some will happily pour their most expensive wines, while others will talk about those wines without actually letting you taste them unless you're willing to buy a bottle. Honestly, that's disappointing, especially when you're there to experience and learn about the wine. That said, Platypus itself is fantastic. The shuttles are spacious, the groups are small, and the overall experience is a great way to explore wine country without the hassle of driving between wineries. My biggest recommendation: tell your tour guide upfront that you want fun, welcoming wineries that are generous with their pours. The right winery selection can take an already good tour and make it an outstanding one. We'll absolutely consider booking with Platypus again!

Calling us, then picking us up earlier than the slotted time, owner operator Steve was an absoulte pleasure to have taking us around in his Land Rover. With an extensive knowledge of the area and connections to what seemed like everyone, Steve showed us a fantastic time. During the tour we asked to stop in at certain places that were not on a pre determine map, not only did we get shown around, but we got to drive through some of the vine yards which was unexpected. A little tip, have a big breakfast, getting out into wine country is great, but it's country so there isn't a lot of eateries out there. Make sure to book the food and wine pairing at the Lambert winery. Steve or whoever your booking through. It's a great way to finish your tour. Overall Price: $$$ Drink: 5-5 Food: 4-5 Come back: Yes
