We just finished up a tour with Randall, and we had such an incredible experience. He picked the perfect vineyards for our group that aligned perfectly with what we were hoping to experience. We started with a small boutique vineyard with incredible views and great wine and followed up with a perfect lunch spot. Imagine our surprise when we found out today that it wasn't even on our itinerary despite confirmation less than two weeks ago it was! Two words: HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Here's why: 1) We were pressured to buy wine, which ended up costing us 3x what we were planning to spend. On top of the $350 tour fee, nowhere did it say that we were obligated to buy from any of the wineries we visited. At the end of the first winery we said we werent ready to buy and Randall insisted that we buy at least 2 bottles to start and that we can buy more if we want to at the end. We ended up buying from all 3 wineries, when we only wanted to buy from 1 (half of the wine wasn't even good). 2) the tour guide at William Selyem called my fiance's family "retarded" because he/they're from the Midwest. NOT KIDDING. 3) aside from the money and the "professionalism" of Randall's selected partners, the biggest drawback of the whole tour was how "uppity" it all felt. Over and over we heard lines like "you have to be really connected to be even eligible to buy from here, but I happen to know a few people to get you strrrraaaiight to the top of the buyers list!" It was like he cared more about showing off how exclusive this was vs. helping us have a good time. We just wanted good conversation over delicious wine, not a burnout rockstar experience. read more
