I ordered the everlasting soothing lavender bouquet for a friend. As pictured, this classy yet cheerful bouquet contains pale purple roses and deep purple primrose in a square purple vase. The arrangement my friend received was comprised of sad, limp purple-ish carnations and limp pink and white primrose in a basic, round, clear vase that did not even remotely resemble what I ordered. It was one of the saddest arrangements I've ever seen, and I was embarrassed to have sent it. Carnations are filler flowers, and are NOT an acceptable substitute for roses. This order was for a grown adult going through an incredibly difficult time. It was not meant to be some cheesy centerpiece at a junior high dance.
As instructed by Avas website, I attempted to address this issue using Avas Flowers' chatbot. It asked me several questions, and then thanked me for using Avas. My issue was not at all resolved, my chat was not turned over to an actual human, and yet somehow, the conversation was over.
So I called Avas Flowers' customer support number, which was answered by yet another bot. This bot asked several questions and then let me know that I would be contacted as soon as a representative was free. The next morning, I received a phone call from an unknown Delaware area code, so I did not answer. Another Avas bot left a voicemail, so I tried calling back. We played phone tag a couple times throughout the day (it was a busy Saturday and I didn't have my phone on me at all times). When I was finally able to answer their call, THEY HUNG UP ON ME.
Later, I received an email from Avas apologizing for my dissatisfaction. This email gave me a list of possible resolutions and asked me to let them know my preference. I replied to the email and indicated that I wanted a replacement arrangement - the bouquet that I actually ordered and paid for - to be delivered to my friend, and if this was not possible, then I'd like to be contacted about other bouquet options. I got an auto-generated email advising me to not reply, as this mailbox was not monitored. REALLY?! I replied to an email sent by the company asking me to indicate my preference for how to resolve the issue, and I'm not supposed to reply to the email?!
After that, I received another email advising that $8 had been refunded to my account. EIGHT. DOLLARS. For what ended up being a $70 arrangement. Despite my indicating that I wanted a replacement bouquet, NOT a refund.
I have been trying to get in touch with an actual human being at this company for days now, but all communications from Avas have ceased. I am FURIOUS and wish I had done a little research on this company before ordering from them. As it turns out, countless customers have had very similar experiences with Avas, right down to the lack of human interaction and hang-ups when their customer service calls were actually answered. Avas Flowers' current Yelp rating is 1.3 stars, a far cry from the 4.4 stars listed on their website. Hundreds of people have had similar experiences and have reported them to the BBB. There are entire Reddit threads and Facebook groups comprised of victims of this company's scam. I will NEVER use this company again, I will ensure that none of my friends and family ever use this company, and I hope the garbage human beings behind this scam get everything they deserve in life. read more
