Thanksgiving buffet 2025 $75 pp
Alison K.

We went for the Thanksgiving day Buffet because we didn't want to cook and clean! Well worth it. $75 pp, the buffet included Italian and traditional Thanksgiving day food. All the regular Thanksgiving day fixings plus lots of Italian pastas and specialities. The buffet was filled with high priced items which is why it's $75 pp. come hungry, there's a lot of food! The fish piccata was an unexpected favorite! Yum

I have a lot to say about Avanti. Everything makes so much sense and at the same time, nothing makes sense at all. The atmosphere inside is incredibly uncomfortable. The servers have a very odd/suspicious energy and the decor is not only outdated and tacky, but also uncomfortable with so much black and red. However, the food is pretty great. I hate that I love it. The couple times I've been in, the restaurant has been fairly dead (only 1-2 other tables besides mine), which is also suspicious to me. And there have been several single people in the restaurant that linger for a very long time. To each their own and not placing any judgment on anybody's social preferences - sometimes I go out to eat by myself too. It's just something I noticed and something that doesn't sit very well. There are a ton of photos near the entrance of celebrities and well-known figureheads who have dined at Avanti. Maybe things were different several decades ago but I just can't understand it in today's world.

Was looking forward to celebrating our anniversary here. High marks for ambience. Drinks were good. But... as an appetizer we ordered the gnocchi and meatballs. The meatball was cold! I had the lasagne which was recommended and good but the salmon was so tough and hard to cut. The vegetables were cold. When we made the reservation it asked if we were celebrating anything. I marked anniversary. Nothing to acknowledge it. I mentioned to the waiter (not his fault) about out issues. A manager removed the salmon and appetizer from the bill which was nice. But in the end, it was a disappointing anniversary dinner.

Food was great as always. We opted for the antipasto to share (which is a great value and super filling, probably could feed 6-8 easily) and the meatball with gnocchi in honor of meatball day. Pasta combo was my go to choice for dinner once I heard the pasta selections for the night. The gnocchi is out of the world. It's fluffy and very freshly made. Tonight it was very loud in the restaurant, not fault to Avanti, but to the loud party to our right. Other than that, it's a classic place with great service and heavy pours and portions.

You wouldn't be able to tell that this is fine dining restaurant based off the rest of the neighborhood and its parking lot. The interior is definitely a stark contrast compared to the other businesses on the same street. There is a veritable plethora of seating and we were pleased to find that they were set up and ready to go because we arrived right as they opened. The servers are friendly and quite knowledgeable about their dishes. I tried out their eggplant rollatini, salmon, and cannoli. One of the things I noticed was that their water is of lower quality than other waters I've had. The eggplant was dish was quite nice. The salmon tasted good, but I've had better. The vegetables that it came with were amazing. I felt that the cannoli was average. Although not amazing, I felt that the complimentary buttered bread was a nice touch. It was also nice that there's no strict dress code here either. Overall, a slightly above average experience here.

Ossobuco Milanese

Definitely the best Italian I've found so far in AZ!! We went in a large party for thanksgiving & the food really blew us all away. The lamb chops, The Ossobucco, the Lasagna all highly recommended! The service was good, the decor is unique I liked it. Ultimately I wasn't expecting it to be so good because it only had a 4 star- this place is a 5 to me. I think I found a new favorite place for Lasagna! There's a reason why this place has been around for decades. Try them, so good- happy eating!!

Is there a dress code?

There really isn't. You will see very dressed up and you will see casual. It is a nice place so I think personally no shorts and t shirts. ( of ball caps)

Is there dancing?

No, just a piano player for ambiance.

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

Excellent service, a Christmas tree upstairs, and no reservations required. Glad they were able to seat us considering we showed up without reservations. Downstairs gets quickly reserved so seats upstairs are where they push overflow patrons. Right outside Flint's doors downstairs there is a staircase which opens up to the upstairs dining area. Service was prompt, and we got our drinks by the time we had our mains decided. I got a glass of red to pair with my steak. My partner had a refreshing cocktail, but it was decent. The highlights of the night were the food. SO MUCH FOOD! And it was TERRIFIC! For starters we got the artichoke hummus. It sounded a bit weird, but all it was was regular hummus with 4 artichoke hearts that were crispy. The artichoke hearts were crisp, but moist, and I could have kept eating those all day. It comes with 1 pita bread. The server told us to order another and we did, turns out we needed it as the pita breads were quite small ($3 +). Sure only 3 bucks, but nickel and dime if you are spending $14 on an app... For mains I got the filet medium rare with a side of regular potatoes. My partner got the salmon skewer with a side of asparagus. Both the dishes were cooked perfectly and they were familiar dishes with a slightly exotic touch to it. Must be the middle eastern part of the restaurant. The steak came with a ganache or accompaniments of middle eastern sides. Can't recall what they were but they were great when I dipped my potatoes in them. It was sour, tart, acidic, kind of like middle eastern soy sauce. The server recommended it to us and we got it. The salmon skewer came with 5 decent sized pieces on it. Great for a small eater or someone who doesn't want their own meal. It too was delicious and had light touches of sauce or smoke on it. The asparagus is a favorite. It was cooked as usual, typical steak side and both me and my partner enjoyed it! For dessert, as it was my partners birthday the server comped the pound cake. While it was delicious, it was definitely the letdown of the meal. It was way too sweet including the layer of cream that it was doused with. The sweat cream wasn't necessary as the pound cake was incredibly sweet itself. Also, the pound cake wasn't soft like normal cake. It was quite dry once you peeled away the creme layer up top. I definitely should have gone with the Chocolate Ganache Tart. But their mess up worked in their favor. I'm definitely coming back for another meal at Flint!

I just had two great meals there last weekend when we were in town for a Allan Parsons Project concert. My wife had the Gnocchi with Vodka sauce and a Caesar salad. We were both very pleased with our selections. Sat. afternoon we came back before the concert. Come for the Lasagna, Not the Candlelight Romance…read more We came here for a birthday dinner because we wanted to try something new, and by the end of the meal I found myself with two very different opinions: The food? Excellent. The ambiance? Let's talk about it. First, the good. The food was genuinely delicious. This feels like the kind of family-owned Italian restaurant where the focus is on what's coming out of the kitchen rather than what's hanging on the walls. Everything tasted like comfort food should; warm, satisfying, and made by people who care about the recipes. The service was also very good. In fact, the cook came out during our meal to ask how everything was. I was happy to tell him the food was fantastic because it absolutely deserved the compliment. Now for the not-so-good. We arrived around 5:30 PM, and the dining room was so quiet I could hear dishes being washed in the back. Not "pleasantly quiet." More "did everyone else know something I didn't?" quiet. For most of the meal there was no music at all. Just silence and the occasional clink of kitchen activity. They eventually turned on some background music shortly before we left, but it was so low that it felt more like a suggestion than actual ambiance. The tables, chairs, and overall décor are perfectly fine, but this isn't the place I'd choose for a romantic date night, anniversary dinner, or a birthday celebration where you're looking for a special atmosphere. What it is, however, is a great place to bring your spouse, kids, parents, in-laws, or anyone who appreciates good Italian comfort food without needing a white tablecloth experience. My advice? Come for the food. The food is worth it. If you're chasing ambiance, maybe lower your expectations or plan for a later dinner. The atmosphere seemed to improve after 6:30 PM as more people arrived. Bottom line: fantastic food, friendly service, family-dinner vibes. Just don't expect Tuscany. Expect comfort, and you'll leave happy.
