I guess I'm pretty diligent about returning online goods and every so often it's fun to send snail mail to friends, but other than that I'll just stop by occasionally for stamps for work mail. More than willing to work with you to get your items shipped safely and affordably. Sometimes the stamps options are limited, but I've never not been able to do what I needed. The facilities have always been very tidy and they seem to have a large section of boxes. I love my local post office!

They made clear efforts to be polite and respectful - little things like making sure we went through doors first when talking to them. We had a bit of a complicated move, they made sure they understood our goals and executed them better than we could have. I appreciated that they would good through each room with us before and after items were moved to confirm they were doing what we wanted. They saved us money by efficiently stacking everything both in the truck and in our storage units. We thought for sure we wouldn't be able to fit everything - but there was room to spare when tetris master Brittan was done with it. This was a far more positive experience than I'd have ever guessed. I'm pretty die hard with DIY approach to everything but this was money well spent.

Our experience with this moving company was a nightmare…read more The movers showed up and were in such a hurry that they finished moving our five bedroom home in less than an hour. Red flag #1. After they left, my husband started going through the truck and saw that they had just placed things in the truck haphazardly and didn't stack from the bottom to the top so that there would be more room for other items. We realize that if my husband didn't intervene, half of our things were going to have to be left behind . My husband had to unload and load both the Pod and the truck, again, by himself. We were supposed to be on the road by noon. We got on the road at 9:30 that night. We ended up driving all night AND we arrived too late to move our things into the new home that has a strict HOA policy of moving only between the hours of 9 and 6 PM. So we couldn't move any of our things in until the next day. The folks that were supposed to help us move in that day weren't available the next day. This was a nightmare. These guys were terrible.

I had no clue that you could get 10% off if you mention Yelp! I wished I had because I spent a…read moresmall fortune on shipping my visa application (and all the supporting documentation) and could have used all the discounts possible! Anyway, as mentioned, I needed to ship very important documents and UPS was one of two options I was given. Now, the instructions I was provided with specifically state that Express service must be used and that I must supply prepaid return shipping and packaging as well. I figured since these instructions were issued by the British Government that this would not be a problem. The store is quite bare and as far as shipping supplies, they had some, but it isn't a massive variety. I grabbed two large, padded envelopes and made my way to the counter. At the counter, a very friendly staff member greeted me and I explained the situation. He typed in the information in to give me a quote, but after typing in the information the option to create a return shipping label became greyed out. I showed him the instructions I had received and also mentioned that I created and account and I could create a return online for international shipping, but I couldn't figure out how to combine that with creating an outward shipment. This is usually why I hesitate to go to the stores, I always feel like they don't know as much about international shipping options... HOWEVER, I do feel like this guy should be given five stars for going the extra mile to get answers for me. He called the help number and was bounced around a number of times, but kept on until someone could provide an answer. Not to mention it was prime time for people to drop of their shipments and he was able to assist all of them at the same time. And just in case you were wondering, you can hear the chatter from the hair salon next door. Eventually he did get an answer (kind of ridiculous how long he was made to wait after being transferred around) and the answer was that they could not create a return for an international shipment in store. He did offer the UPS Express Envelopes so I didn't have to purchase and use the massive padded envelopes. Unfortunately, I did have to correct the addresses on the labels twice, so part of me is still a little worried that something might be incorrect with the shipment. I guess I'm a little confused as to why you can do this online, but you can't do it in store. So while I appreciate the extra effort of the staff member, I can't say that this store meets all of my shipping needs. I think I might opt for the other company if I have to do this particular shipment again.

But then again, I wore a red dress to my…read moreMom's funeral, so I suppose I've already disregarded the normal somberness that accompanies these things. I chose Murdoch in Marion for my Mom's cremation and memorial because we had my Dad's funeral at the Murdoch funeral home in Manchester, IA. The staff members were all respectful and helpful throughout the process. I had originally planned on using the Murdoch location in Cedar Rapids but changed my mind after we'd already sat down with the funeral director. Instead of passing me off to someone else he continued to work with me on the details and was at the Marion location for the memorial. That's going above and beyond in my opinion and I really appreciated it. My Mom didn't want a traditional funeral service but we wanted to have a memorial reception for her. It was obviously not the type of event they normally do at Murdoch (or most funeral homes I imagine) but they handled all my requests and didn't give me any push back at all. Ryan, the funeral director I was working with, was patient and helpful while walking me through the options for the service and obituaries. I was surprised how quickly they typed up the obituary and had copies for me to edit. They also very quickly got me pricing for placing an obituary in the Chicago Tribune. I expected both would be something I'd have to come back for later or would be emailed to me, but it only took about 10 minutes while I was busy with other decisions. When I showed up expecting a table in the room to put food and drinks on they had a table set up with everything I would need in about 5 minutes. Towards the end of a very long day I realized I'd have to figure out how to get all the flowers and plants home. Onore, who was helping Ryan and was available throughout the afternoon/evening for anything we needed, quickly let me know that they could deliver the flowers for free the next day. Maybe that's common for funeral homes to do, but I didn't expect it and I greatly appreciated it. These little things don't sound like a big deal but in the middle of a difficult time they make all the difference in the world. Now, when I say the flowers were delivered "free" I suppose that's probably not the right word. Maybe I should say "for no additional charge than the incredible amount they had already charged me". Had it not been for the incredible price tag of this modest event I would've given them 5 stars. I can't believe how expensive anything having to do with a funeral is. I can't help but think they're taking advantage of people, along the same lines as anything "wedding" related is automatically more expensive. I suppose this is probably more a comment on the industry, not Murdoch specifically. I would recommend any of the Murdoch funeral homes. They made a difficult time just a little bit easier and I can't say enough how important that is.
