I'm extremely disappointed writing this…read more Over the years, I've been recommended by several people to John's Tires & Brakes because they were always friendly and made customers feel like family. They would offer rides, snacks, and made the experience feel personal. Because of that, there was a lot of trust built. Unfortunately, someone very close to me recently discovered that multiple repairs done here were either poorly completed or failed far sooner than they should have. Spark plugs that were replaced last May (with only about 5,000 miles driven since) were already completely fried, despite typically lasting much longer. Wiring that was replaced just last month also needs to be redone because it's damaged. On top of that, another mechanic showed that the welding work done on the muffler/exhaust was poorly done and may have contributed to further damage, including the catalytic converter needing replacement. I strongly encourage anyone getting major repairs here to seek a second opinion.

After an inspection, I was told there wasn't anything wrong, even though noises were coming from the front and rear of my car. Additionally, my car was leaking oil only after they changed the oil. I took my car to another shop, and they found that my front sway bar links were completely cracked open and that a plastic cover in the back lacked clips, causing rattling in both places. Lastly, the most frustrating thing to find out was that my undercarriage splash shield was left with only ONE bolt to hold it in place after their service, so it was heavily dangling. If I didn't have access to reliable people, I wouldn't have even known Luke's Auto did such a poor job with my car, and I would have continued to drive my car until it lost steering or leaked the remaining oil.

Grismer mechanics came back and told me I need rear brakes, brake fluid flush, front brakes, rear bearing, front tie rod, and a new set of tires. I was so stressed and overwhelmed I decided to sell my car before putting $3k into a car with over 180k miles. I told them only do the rear brakes. They decided to include the brake flush because they charged me $660 for the rear brakes. I then took my car for a second opinion and they said none or the things mentioned was dire. I do need tires but can wait a couple months, I need front brakes but can wait a couple months. Grismer told me my front brakes would be gone by the end of the weekend. They had me so scared to drive my car I bought another car to drive before I got my second opinion. Big mistake, but it was the path I was led down by misleading, money hungry mechanics. Terrible and shameful and Grismer should refund my money on the brake fluid flush I did not ask for, they suggested, and they did this work without my request, I said "rear brakes" and they included the flush. My car i had spent a little over 2,000$ to fix my brakes and to get a new tire. And honestly I'm not even sure if the tire was new. They told me "we didn't think you cared about your car" "we did what we thought would get you by" and even said "we didn't test drive it" after I voiced my concerns over my brakes being sketchy. They even basically admitted they discriminated against my car itself. After the 1st time they gave me back my car I should of just went to another shop. The brakes immediately after getting it back felt like they were going to completely fail. Took it in a 2nd time and more issues miraculously popped up. After that...the 3rd time MORE issues popped up which in total was a little over 2,000$. They ended up messing up the brakes yet again so I went to a different shop where it cost me 600$ to fix what Good Grip said was fixed and the noise was most likely my suspension that I was hearing. I should've investigated further into this shop before going to it and I would of known to avoid this place entirely. Like others, it's very close to where I live and that makes it convenient. Shame on them for not caring about their customers.
