After many experiences with mechanics who had to go through "what is that?" moments before they could work on my Vokswagen, I have been SO HAPPY to have found German Autowerks. They can always figure out what's going on and have the appropriate (not makeshift) parts, and cost way less than the dealership. PLUS, I really appreciate that they are willing to take the time to educate me about my car. I like to learn about how my car works and fix things on my own when I can, and these guys are really great about showing me what's going on and explaining things when a repair is needed. Total incompetent crooks. Charged me storage for every single day the car was left there...after I asked if they were gonna charge me storage and was told "NO". They mentioned I had 30 days but on Day 21 I got an $800 bill before the hauling guy could pick up my Rover. They told me my engine was blown and it was NOT. After getting the rover home we fixed it in 1 day! They wanted to charge me $12K to replace an engine that we fixed for $750 and 5 hours of work. They also charged me $200 just say "It's blown". They did no real diagnosis...I was extremely disappointed. Also...my car has been through a Hurricane and didn't leak. Never had a leak...when I get the car back it was completely full of water inside. They left my car outside with the windows down and the sunroof open and it absolutely destroyed the interior so much that the insurance had to total my vehicle. Unfortunately the call was not a gesture to fix the situation, but instead an attempt was made to offer an explanation that would convince me that my point of view was incorrect. While the act of reaching out was certainly appreciated it hasn't changed the circumstances behind my disappointment with German Autowerks. Getting your car fixed is rarely ever a pleasurable experience. But this place is wonderful. I struggled for a long time trying to find a place to get work done on my VW Beetle that didn't charge an arm and a leg. Not only is this place affordable, but they're locally owned and really friendly. They don't rely on advertising or deals with dealerships, so they rely solely on reviews. Maybe that is why they always give me top notch customer service! Being a young woman sometimes auto repair places will try to take advantage of you and sell you things you don't need or up charge you because you don't know what's wrong with your car. After having them diagnose a few stored codes and perform an inspection on my BMW I was given the results and a some suggested maintenance items that needed attention. The price was fair and considerably lower than the dealer. The car was ready when they said it would be and returned in a neat, clean and tidy condition. After my A5 suffered an engine issue, I took it to a dealership in Dublin/Plain City that shall remained unnamed, who told me I basically needed to replace the entire cylinder head, to the tune of $8k. I reached out to German Autowerks and talked to Terry, who clearly and logically explained what might be wrong and what other possibilities might be, and how to find out for sure. They really know their stuff and are so helpful with keeping me on the road, but not bogging me down with tons of extra repairs like the dealerships always do. They have also started selling reconditioned cars. I will be buying my next car from German Autowerks. Nice guy. Had my Audi there for it's 70K checkup and a couple of other items. Tells me it needs gaskets replaced. After 3 day tells me its ready. When I arrive i find out that the check engine light is still on. Hey, I brought it in to be fixed! The final slap in the face is when he tells me I am leaking window washer fluid as I'm going to the car. Really! Didn't they think I would have wanted that fixed if they had told me about this. As I leaving the shop we both know my car needs maintenance now. Service was prompt and price was 75% less than the BMW dealers. Estimates for other possible repairs were half what I had received from other "BMW" repair shops. Took my Audi here with the check engine light on. They recommended several things be replaced (gasket, seals). They never have parts in stock so after 3 days they tell me my car is ready. They proceed to tell me my check engine light is still on I need to have valves cleaned (I have now spent $1,000 on their current work). Took it to the dealer and they told me i had a crack in my vacuum hose. $200 total cost. These guys don't know Audi's. If you have some money to burn these are the guys for you. read more

Bought a car in mid December and was told I was getting an excellent deal. On the drive home the oil light came on and they towed it back that night and said they fixed it. A couple of days later the car wouldn't start and they had to tow it again and replace the starter. A week later I was driving the car to visit my brother and the oil light came back on, I called and they told me to keep driving it and then my engine exploded. They were nice and replaced the engine for me but kept telling me how they didn't have to do it because I bought the car as is. I appreciate that they replaced it but now the new engine is having the same problems and I had to cancel another trip because of how unreliable this car is. Not to mention all the other little things like no AC, one windshield wiper stopped working, all the handles in the interior of the car broke off, and my check engine light is on for something else. It was my first experience buying a car and I used all of my savings. Not even 6 months after getting the car I had to buy a new car and German Autowerks wouldn't even buy my car back. At first the experience with German Autowerks was great then I had an issue with them not finishing the job before sending me home with my car. They had my car for a week before they stated the car was ready for pick up which it turns out it was not. I picked up my car on Friday and noticed all the issues Saturday morning when i turned on my windshield wipers and a piece of plastic flew out, part of my shroud. After popping the hood it was easy to notice a lot of work was left undone or done very poorly. They lost my battery cover. They broke the shroud for my air box and didn't even attempt to reattach. They left air sensor unplugged. They left a piece of the air box under the windshield wiper. The didn't reinstall the clamp on the MAP sensor correctly. They also didn't bleed the brakes properly after installing a new brake booster. I needed my vehicle so I finished the work that I paid German Autowerks to do. The Monday following was the first day they were open for business and I contacted Terry, one of the owners, to discuss this issue. He requested that I bring the car back and they would fix the issues. I told them that i had to fix the issues myself as I needed my car and they were closed on the weekend, not to mention they had my car for a week and couldn't complete the work correctly. I asked for a partial refund since I had to finish the work that I paid them for and to cover the cost of damaged and missing parts. At that point German Autowerks became very unprofessional. I will not do business with this company again due to the inability to complete the work they were paid for and the lack of customer service when they made a mistake. read more

They do good work and tend to side on the not run up the bill side of life. As another said I've had work done here and they sometimes leave out some things. Not sure if they are trying to get you to bring it back or save you money. I've had brakes done here and the E brake cable needed replaced so they didn't reconnect it. Hello wanted it all fixed. Same with a tune up. Needed an ignition coil, they replced that and the plug wires, but not the plugs. again, hellooooo. Oh well, I'd still go back as they are reasonably priced and what they do is done well. Just spell out EXACTLY what you expect and they will deliver. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My husband took his 03 Jetta here with a battery issue and asked if the struts were bad. The manager told my husband the struts were not Volkswagen parts and all needed to be repaired. He quoted my husband $1600.00 dollars just for struts. My husband called another company for a second opinion and he was told struts should never be over $1000.00. After taking his car to the second opinion the company informed him the struts were genuine after all. This place point blank lied!! They did managed to fix the battery but left left the check engine light on and didn't recalibrate. In my option this was a tactic to make a person who has no idea about Volkswagens to come back and spend more money and time... DO NOT waste your time on this cut rate place. read more

I recently went there to get an oil change. A couple of days later I noticed a discrepancy on my oil change sticker. I called to verify if the right oil was put in my car that I payed for and they called back an hour later and said that they probably didn't use the right oil. I would advise you to take your car anywhere but here. I don't know if they were scamming me on purpose or just incompetent and careless. They cost me thousands in replacing the same part repeatedly within just a few years, sometimes just months. Not once did they honor their stated warranty on the part, instead using ridiculous excuses. I took the car to some actual professionals and the issue was just a connecting hose to the part, not the extremely expensive part they claimed to be replacing. I don't even know if this shop was doing the work they billed me for or not. But not honoring the warranty with fake excuses is a scam either way. I have also had to have their work fixed up at other shops. I have had parts they claimed to have replaced, "re-replaced" at other shops because they appeared to still be the original parts. These people cost me way too much time and money and acted in extreme bad faith when dealing with me. I do not trust them. read more

While on a road trip and 4 hours from home, my check engine light came on. My dealership told me to stop driving. I found this garage just a mile from the interstate. They took my car in to be diagnosed immediately upon my arrival, found the problem, fixed it in less than an hour, charged far less than my dealership, and had me on my way. After reading these online reviews I took my Audi TT to German Autowerks for a coolant leak and check engine light. Once they examined my car Jamie told me his technician was sure my water pump and timing belt needed to be replaced. The cost was 800.00 but unfortunately I still had a coolant leak and check engine light after they looked at it. They never took me into the back to show me the leak or show me the replacement with the new part. Having explained to them when I dropped my TT off that I had my water pump and timing belt replaced couple of years prior and probably did not need replaced I asked them to look at all the other possibilities. They were adamant that this is what needed to be fixed. When I picked up my car the check engine light was still on which they had not looked at and within a matter of days my coolant leak problem was back. It seemed as though they threw a few expensive parts onto my car at my expense of their learning curve. I called and spoke with owner and I basically got a too bad you needed it fixed answer and it will cost me more to find and fix the real issue. My go to mechanic was booked when this was going on so when I got my car into him he found the leak and all I needed was a replacement of a connector piece. There are three levels of service and pricing for people who own Audi's: the dealer, the shop that's learning and charges just beneath the dealer and then my experience mechanic who's honest, knows we are all on a budget and can figure what's really wrong with your car and give the best recommendations before asking you to throw expensive parts and labor charge to maybe see if it's a fix.
