Asked them to fix my "engine light" and check my AC. Charged me 375+ dollars and my check-engine light was back on in 24 hours, my AC stopped working 30 days later, was made to feel foolish for asking to bring it back in. ZB is practically family but my dad stopped going, both my kids stopped going, and I'll never go back. Ask him to come take a polygraph test with me! I don't think he will. read more

The team at sigmaTec is always honest and friendly. We've had our 2015 Equinox serviced many times and have always had a positive experience. The work is high quality and their time estimates are spot on. We know that the work has been done well and when our vehicle will be ready. We won't take our car anywhere else. read more

Serviced my Subaru Forester. Was given this repair shops name from Facebooks Central Ohio Subarus Group as the place to go if you have a Subaru and need good service. I was not let down! Very happy with all aspects ... initial call, appointment set up, drop off, letting me know what needed to be done and estimate. Very quickly did the service and pickup was flawless. Very professional shop! I will be using them for future repairs and mantenance. read more

this place is amazing! ZB is knowledgeable, honest, friendly and I do not trust anyone else with my vehicle! I have been using their services for over ten years, you will not find a better shop to use! pricing is fair and service is reliable. they will tell you if something else is wrong but they do pressure you in any way! I have numerous vehicle issues over the years and he has fixed them all. read more

The service is honest and straight to the point! When they break it down on what was wrong with your vehicle they give a fair and honest explanation. They assess the service you request in a very timely manner. You do need to call ahead and schedule when you can bring in your car which can be a week or two out but with the incredible value and honest work it's hard to want to go anywhere else. Prices are fair and the work is even better. read more

I can't say enough good things about sigmaTec. My daughter's 2007 Camry wouldn't start and she lives off campus and relies on her car. I called ZB and he said their schedule was busy, but he hoped to be able to get to it by the end of the week. We had the car towed there over the weekend and he had it fixed at 2PM on Monday! The problem was the crankshaft position sensor and we were pleased with the price of the repair as well as the quick service. read more

I took my Subaru and I feel like they did a good job and we're flexible with all my needs. They couldn't fix the shaking in my steering wheel because they don't do tires? They need to be a complete mechanic ship if I'm coming to them. read more

I am in the process of making a used Honda Civic purchase and was looking for a competent, independent garage/mechanics to perform this work. SigmaTEC was close to the dealer and had great Yelp reviews so I requested their help. They were very responsive and provided a very useful assessment. I spoke to Dave and he was 5-stars helpful. I would definitely do business with SigmaTEC in the future when in the area. Thank you SigmaTEC!! read more

Needed my front brakes done in a pinch while I was at work. These people got it done before my work day was over. Clean, fast, very reasonable price and professional. read more

ZB has been working on my cars for about 3 years now. My husband is a mechanic out of necessity and because he didn't trust any one else to be as picky about his cars as he is. We met ZB during our stints as rally-cross and auto-cross sessions with the local OVR-SCCA. ZB is knowledgeable ind funny and straight shooter. My husband gave up his cars to this man, and I can't stress how much trust that is from my husband. This man can work a good deal for you, and also get the job done right, THE FIRST TIME. read more

I HATE taking my vehicles for service. I'd much rather stick a rusty fork in my eye. That being said- my husband was out of town and something needed repaired on my car. UGH. These guys are awesome. They didn't make me feel like a "dumb girl" or that they were going to try to charge me $1000.00 for a $10.00 part. They got me right in and told me exactly what was wrong and how much it would be. They fixed it in half a day and I can still eat this week! Yay! I will never take my cars anywhere else. Amazing service. Amazing prices. So glad we found them!! read more

Our experience was one of relief and peace of mind. We had originally been quoted a price at a different mechanic that in my opinion was outrageous. ZB took care of us, and made sure that our wallet was taken care of as well. He did quality work for a reasonable price, and was also a great guy to chat with. We had our vehicle serviced in January 2023 and as of this posting on June 15, 2023 we've had no issues at all. The work was done professionally, quickly, and again I could not express this enough affordably! read more

Went here when the dealer was making outrageous claims of what needed repair. They PROPERLY diagnosed my electrical issues and repaired. Even came in well under their own estimate. Which was about 5% of what the dealer wanted. Ended up being electrical ground in hard to reach place. Will do business here again! read more

My experience was either gross incompetence or a downright scam. My husband is a long-distance truck driver, and generally does all his own mechanic work, both truck and vehicles. He was out of town when I drove from Cleveland to Columbus and had mentioned before I left that he'd been keeping an eye on the hoses and head gaskets b/c he felt like something needed to be replaced soon. On the way down white smoke started coming out of the engine, so of course, I pulled off and let the car cool, then coast to the nearest exit. The car never over-heated and never ran out of coolant, but for some reason the top of the engine was covered in it. I had the car towed to SigmaTec and explained the whole situation, including that my husband had been planning to change the hoses/etc when he got back anyway. They tried to sell us on a full engine repair, block and everything, claiming that something was completely broken in there and the car had totally overheated, the thermostat was broken, etc- with a $6,000 estimate. We decided to wait until my husband got back and could look at it. He pulled the car out (still running despite the supposedly broken engine) and within 5 minutes had found the leak in the hose on top of the engine, right next to the radiator. We bought the part ourselves ($20) and fixed it within an hour. It's been weeks and multiple long trips with no other issues. Everyone there was very friendly, so I'm reluctant to call it an outright scam, but it did feel like they might've been trying to take advantage of me being there alone, or at the very least it was WILDLY incompetent to not notice a leak right on top, in front of their faces. Do NOT recommend. read more

Took my car in for them to install headers and a up pipe and had it done in a day and the car runs amazing. Unfortunately a day later I had something else break on my car and plan on having them take a look at it ASAP. 10/10 recommend. read more

Always had a great experience. They don't try to sell you repairs that don't need to be done and the office is well kept. Dave is great. Not that I love getting my car repaired but if I have to, this place is the place to go! read more

Been going to sigmaTec for at least six years now. Originally went because I had a problem with a Subaru that another mechanic couldn't figure out and I heard that they specialized in Subarus. ZB figured it out instantly for a fraction of the cost the other guy wanted to run expensive diagnostic tests. I've since brought other cars there (VW & Toyota) and they've done a great job with them. The prices are fair, the work is high quality, and Z.B. is honest and very knowledgeable. He's also spent time that doesn't need to in order to talk me through vehicle issues and offer good advice. Highly recommended. read more

Now if you follow my reviews, yes, this is the place to get you car serviced. I have been here countless times with several cars with not running issues or just quality service without the corporate price. They have always been honest, giving me good prices with timely repairs, and had me back on the road in no time. I believe in shops like this. Not ones that try to tell you non-broken parts need fixed just to make a dollar from you. I have had my mom go in there alone and have her brakes looked at and I already knew what needed replaced and they said exactly what I did. Now if you ever have a car that is broken down or just needs serviced, this is that shop you can trust and is worth your while! They have made me a lifelong customer. read more

I have gone here a couple of times. I genuinely trust the integrity of the institution and believe that they care about doing a good job. They have repaired my air conditioning, addressed a squeaking noise when turning, and addressed an issue that arose from a competitor's oil change. They have earned my business by telling the truth and being fair-- even if it meant lower short-term profits for them. Their prices are very competitive, and they extend courtesies all of the time checking things or addressing things that don't need new parts or supplies. They are now my absolute first choice for automotive care! read more

Skilled, experienced, super honest, and friendly. You should know that I am super neurotic and borderline OCD. ZB is the only person I trust to touch my cars. He always gives you a fair price and won't let you spend you money on something you car doesn't need. He has rebuilt my engine. He wasn't happy with what the machine shop did so he sent it back to them and had it fixed on his own dime. One time a friend of my wife had her car fixed by ZB and it was running rough the next day. He came to our house on a Saturday morning on his day off and fixed the problem that was not related to his repair for free. I can't say enough about this guy. The only reason I hesitate to post this review is because I want to keep ZB for myself. :) read more

The estimate I was given was actually about a third higher than the final cost, and the estimate was much lower than I would have paid elsewhere. So often I have found the opposite to be true. The work was done quickly and perfectly. This was my first time taking my car to SigmaTec, and I'll be back. I've had too many other places try to up-sell me or talk to me as though I'm an idiot about cars (maybe it is that stereotypical thing that women can't know anything about cars), but none of that happened here. read more

Terrible. Would not recommend. Took advantage of my wife. Reporting to BBB. Quoted good price upfront for front and back brakes to get us in the door. Once in they increased price for front brakes and said that back brakes did not need to be fixed despite the fact 1 mechanic before them and 2 mechanics after them said the pads were "metal on metal." When I asked them to fix the front brakes for the quoted price they refused. They said "the back brakes never need to be changed so we cleaned them as usual" They then tried to charge us for cleaning the back brakes. Terrible. Would not recommend. Took advantage of my wife. read more

If I could give these guys 6 stars I would. Was referred to these guys by the head of the Columbus Subaru Group as I had been taking my wife's legacy to a national chain for some time. Its so hard to find a good mechanic and I have the type of anxiety about car issues that gives me night-sweats. But I digress... Called them up on a Thursday because the Legacy was making a weird humming noise. The guy on the phone (Todd maybe?) told me they were a bit backed up (totally understandable) and initially said it would be a week for an appointment. No big deal because of the great referral I got for this shop. I think he took pity on my panicked voice on the phone though because he then said he could take a look at the noise on Monday but maybe the repair wouldnt get done until later in the week. Again, this was all perfectly understandable and I appreciated the polite/transparent way he communicated all of this info. Dropped the car off Sunday night and received a call by 11am or so the next morning telling me the noise was being caused by a bad front wheel bearing. The price he quoted me was significantly less than a similar job I had done on my old Lancer a few years back at one of the national chains. They earned my business from this experience. Subarus are finicky machines and I am so so happy that we found someone we can trust who knows what they are doing with them in Columbus! read more

The cover for my catalytic converter came completely off my old car and not only did SigmaTec tell me to bring it right in, but they welded it back on and didn't charge me. We already loved & trusted SigmaTec because in the past my Honda CRV was occasionally hesitating while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Initially, I took it to another mechanic in Hilliard who told me they found metal shavings in the transmission fluid and that the entire engine needed to be rebuilt for $2200. When I took it to SigmaTec for a second opinion I was assured there were a few metal shavings, but not a lot. They said it absolutely did not need to have the engine rebuilt, so they flushed the transmission and gave it a tune up for well under $300. I've had no shifting problems since and it's been a couple years now. If you want an honest, dependable mechanic look no further. read more

Quality work, fair price. I highly recommend Sigma Tec for your auto repair needs. They quoted a price for brake work and when they were able to get the parts cheaper they passed the savings on to me for a final price LESS than the original quote! read more

It's hard to find people to fix your car who are both skilled and honest. There are so many people in the car repair business (both dealers and independent shop) who are less than honest... so when I found sigmaTec I had to write up a review for them. sigmaTec is a small independent and slightly hard to find auto service facility in Hilliard. They are setup to do most repairs and handle all makes (although Subaru's are one of their specialities). The place isn't fancy at all, and doesn't have a large staff... both things I like because that means less overhead and lower prices compared to a big dealership where the customer is paying for the fancy building and legion of employees who are standing around staring at you. I've owned a few Volkswagens and with them being less than reliable I've gotten quite used to getting it serviced. I'm a bit of a car nut and took a few years of automotive industrial arts classes in high school and would say I know a decent amount about cars (but am far from being a mechanic). But I usually know enough to sniff out BS that the repair tech's and service managers try to sell me at both the dealerships and repair shops... so I was more than pleasantly surprised when sigmaTec both didn't try to up sell me into repairs I knew I didn't really need and instead told me that somethings I thought would need replaced *didn't* in fact need replacing. I really value repair technicians who make smart decisions and don't just have a 'replace everything' mentality (even though that kind of thing makes them more money) and the owner of sigmaTec is definitely one of those who makes smart decisions. My first repair with them was on my 2005 Subaru WRX STI, they performed a timing belt change and brake change. The timing belt change is one of those repairs that if not done exactly right would ruin my engine. It's also one of those repairs where lots of little parts need to be checked and are potentially effected (while the engine is apart it makes a lot of sense to check other items and make sure all is well before closing things up). SigmaTec checked parts like the water pump, pulleys, etc. individually to see if any component needed replacing and only replaced what actually needed serviced. Another great thing about sigmaTec is that they allowed me to source and use my own 3rd party aftermarket parts (they also specialize in aftermarket tuning). I didn't want to use the OEM (i.e. stock Subaru part) timing belt and instead wanted to use a Gates Racing belt, install an aftermarket lightweight crank pulley and use Hawk HPS high performance brake pads, and sigmaTec had no problems with installing aftermarket parts. I couldn't recommend Z.B. and sigmaTec enough, I'll be back to have my Subaru serviced again and will now likely be bringing them my Volkswagen Passat 4Motion. read more

The best auto repair in Columbus!!! I have used sigmaTec a couple of times based on the recommendation of a friend. I live in Dublin so he is not exactly around the corner BUT is well worth the trip. On this latest job I got two other quotes to replace calipers, rotors and brake pads and he saved me over $250. I was worried that over heating might have damaged the bearings and most auto repair places would have jumped on this to do more work. They said they did not think it would be necessary and would check it out when they did the job. The work was performed flawlessly and he even came in under what he quoted me on the phone. Great service at a great price - you cannot ask for more than that! read more

Z.B. is hands down the greatest mechanic I've had the pleasure of dealing with. I am more comfortable taking my car to this guy than I am to my own family members who own car garages. Price: very reasonable, I always anticipate having to pay more than what he ends up charging me. Communication: ask questions, get straight-forward honest answers. Answers phone calls promptly, or returns voicemails in a timely manner. Not your stereotypical cheesy car salesman/mechanic type. Workmanship: so far, he's taken care of an O2 sensor, injectors, spark plugs, brakes, drivetrain and engine mounts, and some other random things for my car, and everything that he worked on works better than when I first got the car. Z.B. has a sincere work ethic. I seriously respect this man! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about SigmaTec and it's owner, ZB. They provided quick, professional, and high quality service - all with a pleasant attitude and good communication. I called and gave a brief explanation of the issue I was experiencing and they were able to get me in the very next morning. That morning ZB called and explained their findings clearly, providing information on the components they investigated and what was wrong. He provided his recommendation on what should be replaced and gave a clear and concise price estimate for the repair. He also volunteered information about other parts that were in good shape, assuring me that they did not require replacement, rather than try to exploit more work. He called back again later that day and said my car was ready to pick up. I told him I'd make it down as soon as I could after work, to which he responded, "take your time, I won't leave until I see you." When I picked up my car and settled my debt there were no surprises, and the itemized bill reflected costs that were all fair when compared to similar quotes I have seen online. It seems like most automotive repairs are expensive, but that's because we are driving complex, precision engineered machines. I found this repair to be a fair price for good work. I found SigmaTec through online research and they stuck out due to their phenomenal reviews. Every review website I visited had great things to say about ZB and his team, and now I know why. If the singular dissenting review on this website is causing you to question this place, I encourage you to visit bbb.org and read the owner's response. I highly recommend this service, and while I don't look forward to my next auto repair, I will feel much better knowing it's in good hands. read more

I highly recommend SigmaTec. ZB, the owner is straightforward and thorough. I found the recommendation for SigmaTec on a Columbus Subaru forum. I took a used Subaru to ZB that I was considering to purchase for an inspection and he found major and costly issues with the vehicle including a defective seatbelt (the seat I would be securing my infant's car seat). The dealership did not disclose any of this information, even though they had purportedly performed their own inspection. I was extremely grateful because not only did ZB save me thousands of dollars in costly repairs he also protected my child from potential harm. I am purchasing a new vehicle now, with ZB's stamp of approval, which means it's a keeper. I will bring my vehicle here for all service and repairs. They are trustworthy and know what they are doing! Thanks SigmaTec! read more

I have been a car guy my whole life and ZB is hands down the best mechanic I have ever seen. Not only is he highly skilled, but he treats every car like it's his. He is very sensitive to the cost of the repair. My most recent experience concerned a 1986 Fiero GT that was in very rough shape. ZB not only brought it back to life for half of what I was sure it was going to cost, but explained what I could expect in the future as far as repairs and costs. (although as a favor to him I think I'm going to sell it rather than subject him to working on it again) read more

My family have been taking our vehicles to sigma Tec for several years now. They are by far the BEST in Auto Repair in the City. I took my Honda van in on Tuesday with various engine noises. Found out that my timing belt needed changed. I the back of my mind I knew that it would be fixed correctly but just resolved that once engines get to a certain age and mileage some of the those quirky noise never really disappear. I drove my van away from the shop thinking I took the wrong van. There are absolutely NO NOISES from my engine. Sounds like it was being driven off the show room. simga Tec has done so many good things for our cars at such good prices I will NEVER GO ANYWHERE else to have my cars worked on. I think you are foolish if you take your cars any place else other than ZB's. read more

I had a simple repair on my daughter's car while she's attending Ohio State University. It's not easy finding a mechanic to trust and that's reliable in another city. sigmaTec was recommended to me and I was satisfied. I didn't have an appointment and they fixed the car that day. I was also looking for a good shop since both of my kids are at OSU and they drive high-mile cars that need attention more often than newer cars. I will return to sigmaTec.
