This shop is amazing. The owner and his son were amazing to work with. They assisted me in designing a new sound system in my Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. New Pioneer Head Unit with all bells and whistles, 1 set of Kicker component speakers, 3 new tweeters in the dash, new Kicker rear door speakers, two 12 " Subs in a secure hidden Box, and two new Kicker Amps (800W X 1 and a 4 channel amp to all surround speakers. Everything was done neatly and professionally. They took two days on this one, but it was understood ahead of time and they kept me informed all through the process. The owners son even spent some extra time with me, teaching me how it all works. Huge kudos. They also boxed up my old stereo system so I can put it back in if I ever decide to sell this truck. On top of that the product only connects to my girlfriends phone no other phones at all. Went back to get a service repair they told me they could repair the device. Auto Sound Systems is a definite rip off. There are many other places to shop...go elsewhere, for your own sake. I would NEVER give them my business again. They either over-charged me for the remote or are trying to over charge me to put the remote into a new vehicle. The cost they are quoting is $150 just to re-install the remote I bought from them into a new car...so something doesn't add up. Guess if being ripped off is what you like, shop there. I have bought both a head unit and subwoofer amp combo from this place. I'm not sure if they charge a little more than other places but I'm fine with it because they have done an amazing job on both installations. the sub woofer has been working great for about 3 years now and the headunit about 2. I even thought i had bought bad speakers and brought my car in to have them figure out what was wrong. they said it would be around $70 dollars for a diagnostic fee and afterwards said there was nothing wrong with the speakers and they didn't feel comfortable selling me new ones because i probably wouldn't notice a difference. they told me i should get a better head unit and they were right. not only do the speakers sound better but the sub sounds remarkable. they also did so well on the head unit that any time i tell someone it is aftermarket they can't believe it. I'm pretty sure they waived the diagnosis fee too but i spent a lot on the head-unit so i kind of hoped so. i haven't found any local places offering the same services at the same caliber as these guys. So i have no problem spending a little extra for high quality service! read more

TL;DR VERSION: These guys are filthy con artists. Go elsewhere. Paid them $50 to literally do nothing, and lie to me about my speakers. LONG VERSION: I had a standard 2 speaker plus subwoofer and amp system in my '99 Jeep. I lost sound in the left side and after some trouble shooting figured out the speaker wire in my door had just gone bad (probably salt and general ware and tear). It's mid winter and I don't have a heated shop so I decided to pay someone else to take care of it for me -- first mistake. I called and explained the situation, then arrived the next day without an appointment. They made me sign a paper saying the minimum labor charge is $45 +tax ($50.23 total) -- second mistake. I waited an hour and a half for him to come out and give me a vague answer about how the whole system is trash. He said "you need new speakers" I asked why and his response, "you need new speakers". Bear in mind I just had my head unit and speakers bench tested before I arrived and both were working/sounding great. I asked, "well what do you recommend?" -- third mistake. He replied "Power Bass. They're really reliable and the best we've got. Only $90 a pair." Power Bass are, by all accounts, the trash bin of car audio. Not to mention $90 a pair is outrageous. I went home furious that I just got conned out of $50. So I called later and politely asked again why he thought I needed new speakers. "Well you want it to work right don't you? You need new speakers. The whole thing needs to be redone. Yeah, one of the speakers has a hole in it." I looked at my speakers once again and wouldn't know it, they're both perfectly fine. If the better business bureau is still relevant I plan to go there next. These guys are just short of thieves and crooks. UPDATE Took my Jeep to Best Buy in Victor and they had it working like a charm in under an hour using my original system which was "trash" according to these guys. read more

After buying a nearly $300 car radio I am livid. The sound is full of static and the Bluetooth connection bad (no so in my other cars). I returned to the shop after 2 days of the installation and they told me that "those were antena issues" . I asks why didn't they test the system before I took delivery. They told me they only install. I requested a refund and the gray hair guy just smirked saying there was nothing wrong with the radio. I will put a stop payment and dispute with my credit card. The guy looked at the antanea on the windshield, that had no marking on it at all, and said it was "ancient" and no parts would be available. First snow, freezing and no snow brush! Called Auto Sound System and they gave me appointment same day to install a remote starter in my car. This is the second time they have installed (2 different cars) and could not be happier with the results. They mentioned a 2 hour process and had me out of there in 1 hour. They also looked at why my trunk would no longer open for me at no charge. The place is clean, has guest wifi and everyone I spoke with was upbeat and helpful... Apparently I can't give it zero stars. I had my ignition interlock serviced here and I have already found a new place going forward. It was negative 20 this morning and my car started no problem and I drove there. When I got there the owner told me there would be a 25 dollar charge because my battery was dead. There was no way my battery was dead. When I complained and told him I would write a review about my experience he cursed at me and told me to find someone else to service the vehicle because he didn't need people like me coming there. I had to call Mastercard to dispute the charge and I had to notify Smart Start. They also broke my dash board when installing it. I know a bunch of other people that have had to go here for ignition interlock's and the feedback has been bad, bad, bad. The owner was unprofessional, rude and coercive. Please heed all the bad reviews on here. Thank god my experience with them is over. read more

Auto sound systems service was mediocre at best. If you schedule an appointment there, you will still be required to wait much longer than expected ( at one time it was 45 minutes). This wasn't just one sporadic occasion, it happened nearly every time I had their service. They failed to inform me that they do not accept credit cards before I gave them my keys. As a result, I had to search for an ATM during bad weather. In terms of communication, I'd get a rotten 'I hate my job' attitude from a couple of the employees. We aren't disparaging this place for just one bad day of service; This series of incompetence occurred on multiple occasions. read more

I went there for a remote car starter. It didn't work properly, took it back, they worked on it for awhile. I used it while still in their parking lot, it didn't start. After going back and forth they said they would replace it. It lasted 1 year. Went back, waited 45 minutes to be one of the first in line (its 1st come, 1st serve or so I thought). When it was my turn, I told them the problem. They said that I would have to come back another day because they were busy with new customers who wanted their products.
