Well I had a little problem with my truck, "Black Nell". The engine light came on. So I drove over and they ran a quick test on it, there was a problem which pointed to the catalytic converter. They scheduled an appointment for a week out. I went out there first thing this morning and checked in. A few minutes later their shuttle driver brought me home. The gentleman's name was Domonic. I found Domonic to be just like every other VanBortel employee. Very polite and professional. As always I must say I'm pleased with all divisions of VanBortel. Sales, Service, Customer Care. And always remember to buy a warranty with your next car purchase. A great benefit they suggest to their customers. And it saves the $$$. read more

"Quick lane" is false advertising for the service end of this dealership. I drove 20 miles this morning for just an oil change, was treated by the service team with a paper mat placed in my car, and was told once I entered the waiting room there was nothing available til next day, and was told that in rather an abrupt way. Bad enough that this wasn't truly a "Quicklane" but also that the service team wasn't aware that they weren't taking more customers for the day by 9:30 am. read more

I'm from Syracuse but I purchased a Maverick hybrid from Van Bortel through the Costco buyers program. I had to wait 9 months for the vehicle but that's Ford's fault. There was a serious lack of communication with the dealership, e-mails and text messages never read. When I arrived at the dealership to pick up the vehicle it wasn't ready. After 3 hours I left with the vehicle. The windows, wheels and tires and the box were dirty. After advising their management of my displeasure Mark reached out to me and made every effort to make things right. He also said they would address the problems I incurred. I am currently visiting a friend of mine in Fairport, NY. I was driving along the thruway a while ago and noticed that the check engine light illuminated when I drove past Utica, NY. The light came on solid and wasn't flashing. I was able to get to my friend's house safely. A few days ago, I called several reputable auto repair shops and asked to schedule an appointment to service my car. Most private shops are booked until the first week of June. I called Van Bortel Ford and asked them to schedule an appointment. They said that their service department are booked until mid June. I hate having to be the bad guy and I told them that I would look for another dealership or a reputable shop. I would be more than happy to schedule an appointment with the service department at Van Bortel Ford at some point. read more

Vanbortel is the place to go. Yet anotheer great experience with QuickLane. Needed to get my daughters car some new tires as she was riding on her originals from a lease. Decided to keep the car so went to VanBortel for the tires. Denise went thru some tires she thought might be a good fit!! On my way out she asked if I wanted it to be inspected too (sticker said due this month). I said sure. (I dont drive this car!!) I have been bringing my daughter's 2008 Focus to Van Bortle for a number of years. I called to schedule an appointment to have someone check out some issues with the car. They told me that they were scheduling 3 weeks out. What!? I mentioned that one of the issues was possibly something serious. They said that I could drop the car off at their Quick Lane service but that it would probably be a week before someone would be able to look at it. Very disappointing! Two stars is the average, as the buying experience and pricing were four stars and the inconsistencies in service rank one star. We've bought two cars from this dealer, one here in Fairport and one when they were in Victor. The online reservation process for appointments works okay but it still takes them a long time to work on your car / even routine things like oil changes- they don't seem to monitor the online appointment system very well because twice they had to reschedule my online appointments that had been made a week beforehand when they realized they didn't have the parts they needed. Both of those appointments were for minor recalls that Ford notified me about. The service department seems to be a victim of its own success as it feels overwhelmed with the flow of work. read more

My husband bought a used diesel F250 from another dealer. There was a major issue with the truck that was unknown to us for several months. The selling dealer tried to hide this issue. I called to schedule an appointment for an oil change and a software update and was told it would be very quick so just use the "Quick lane"; however, when I got there I was told that it was almost lunchtime and they wouldn't be able to get to it for an hour and a half. That certainly isnt "quick lane" like service and why wouldn't they have people to work during lunch.... or at least let people know that if you bring your car at lunchtime, you will have to wait an hour and a half. Lack of respect for a customer's time makes me want to look for other vehicle options in the future. read more

I purchased our used Toyota through Van Bortel Used Cars in Victor with the extended warranty two years ago. i have never once regretted that decision (maybe other than the color but that is not anyone's fault). I used a private mechanic to change my oil and got word that they had stripped the oil pan plug and they quoted me a price of over $600 to fix! I called Van Bortel Ford and they got me in THAT day (Tuesday), gave me a loaner car, and had it fixed by Saturday. Only cost me a small deductible and that was it! Not only did Van Bortel give us a FANTASTIC deal on our Toyota, but they took care of us after the sale. Before I went to Van Bortel I had looked at a Toyota dealer closer to home and I have a feeling I wouldn't have gotten any of the above had I stuck with them. Those reviews will give you some background on my experiences PRIOR to learning about Van Bortel Ford. Now to Van Bortel: I made contact with Matt German thru the internet department and I am sure glad I did. With two quick ten minute phone calls and a few emails Matt saved me almost $1600 dollars on my Fusion Energi lease. Matt was polite and efficient. He made the leasing experience extremely pleasant and most important, he saved me lots of money. If Van Bortel was still making money on my transaction what the heck was Mendham and Family Ford making? He kept me up to date during the leasing process and answered all my questions quickly. If he did not know something, he found out the answer. The price was exactly as quoted and there were no hidden fees. I will be leasing my daughters car next year from Van Bortel Ford and purchasing my new Yukon in the Spring from Van Bortel Chevy. They have my business as long as they can keep delivering the price. Conclusion: Highly recommend. Van Bortel Ford IS worth the drive from Morris County New Jersey ! Even if Van Bortel only saved me $100 dollars over the other dealers, I would still use them. I can't say enough about the assembled people at Vanbortel Ford to help when we need it. I personnely have purchased five vehicles from Vanbortel for my famjly since 2017 and have had them serviced through their service period. Everytime we go there, we recieve the upmost service and attentiveness to our requests. I guess that starts @ the top with their service manager Tom, who is always available for you regardless of how busy he is. I just had my Ford their for a major air conditioning problem which I was told, by another compny, might take several days to repair not to mention they couldn't see my vehicle for almost a week. That wasn't the case @ Vanbortel, their ac tech Michael, got right on my problem and had everything taken care of by the end of that same day. Don't believe you shouldn't take your vehicle to a dealer for repairs after the warranty has run out. That's not the case with Vanbortel, we found not only was their service the best we could have expected, but also the repair cost was less than we could have expected. I'm buying all our vehicle there not only because we really enjoy ours cars, but also their service for us is second to none. I use Van Bortel Quick-lane for service on my lease vehicle. They are close to me and quick is part of their title. Tom who is usually working the quick-lane is extremely knowledgeable and does a great job showing what customer service looks like with his job. I love going in early in the morning when they open at around 6:30 and and I'm all done usually by 7:30 am. Tom has helped me get tires that fit my needs. I had to bring my company vehicle to the dealership for a check engine light issue. I carry very expensive test equipment in my van and always lock my doors. When I went back to grab something out of my van, two days after I dropped it off LOCKED, I discovered that it was in the back of the lot and unlocked. I hope this was an honest mistake. On another note, I did not hear anything from the service department on how long my vehicle would be there or what the issue was. I had to call them to get an update. Not having my work van is a huge inconvenience for me and makes doing my job a challenge. It doesn't take much effort to pick up a phone and keep the customer informed. read more

I purchased a 2010 Ford Edge at Van Bortel 5 years ago and have always taken my vehicle there for service. The staff is amazing and so friendly. Their prices are fair but even better they are FAST. My car is always in and out within 45 minutes and if it is going to take longer, they will give you a loaner vehicle or a ride. I just purchased a new 2016 Ford Explorer. Over the years while I was there for service I would always run into Jake McClelland, who helped me with my first purchase. He always remembered me and was eager to catch up. To conclude, I received a phone call today to let me know Ford Motor Company would not be contributing to the repair cost of my failed catalytic converter. The dealership chose to compensate me where Ford wouldn't. The work has been can finished on my car and the bill has been taken care of due to Van Bortles awesome service manager Tom Anne, customer service relations manager Maureen, and president Kitty Van Bortel. NEVER buy a warranty from. Salespeople totally misrepresented the warranty he sold us for $500. It wasn't until completing the lease that we learned the warranty was for something completely different. Salesman sold us a product he did not understand himself. Have several salespeople explain the samething to you over again. Record it. They do not stand behind salespeople. read more

I reluctantly called Van Bortel Ford concerning a check engine light warning. They told told me it would be at least two or three weeks until they could get me in. I asked to speak to the service manager and was offered an opportunity to just leave the car there and they would squeeze it in. I took that option and they diagnosed my car later that day, did they repairs including recall work the next day. The staff was excellent, the pricing was very fair, and the work was thorough. I recently went to Van Bortel looking for a new or used car. My wife has dealt with Van Bortel for her last 5 cars, but this was my first time. I didn't know what make or model I wanted. I was open to a new or used car - but always lean toward a low mileage used car. When I arrived I was assigned to Jake, a personable young man, who listened to what I was interested in and then proceeded to try to help me define what I wanted. He was very low key, but attentive. He showed me a range of cars and did not try to steer me toward any given year, model, package, etc. As it turned out, there was a used car, that had just become available, that sounded like just what I was interested in. It was off-lot being prepped so I was unable to see it or test drive it. I went home. Jake called when the car was available. I went for a test drive, and everything fell into place with no hassles. I was given a fair price for my trade-in. I was informed about extended warrantees (I chose not to buy them), but there was no pressure to buy them. I was able to get an option (remote start) added and included in the warrantee. My credit union had a better financing rate, but Van Bortel was able to negotiate with their financing company (Canandaigua National Bank), and they gave me the same rate - which meant I didn't have to make another trip to the credit union to deal with that paperwork. It was very convenient! When I got home I realized the car did not have any floor mats. An email to Jake got an immediate reply stating that he would order them and let me know when they come in. I am extremely satisfied with the whole process and will recommend them to friends. read more

My son took his car here so it could be diagnosed due to a noise issue after it was repaired from an accident (was not his fault) at a Ford dealership in Miami Lakes, FL. We drove his car up to Rochester as he goes to college there and noticed an annoying noise that was never there prior to the accident. He went on a test drive with his service advisor who immediately heard the noise, diagnosed it and fixed it...and it was still under warranty! Everyone who works at this dealership, from the person who answers the phone, person who makes appointments, etc., is always very friendly, helpful and competent. We have had routine maintenance done there and their prices are very reasonable...they even offer coupons. I would highly recommend this dealership. You won't be disappointed. read more
