After having a terrible experience on an installation with Best Buy, we were pleasantly surprised to find the Stereo Shop. We needed a radar detector hardwired in to switched power. They were able to fit us in quickly and do the job that Best Buy could not. They were professional and friendly. The work they did in the car was extremely neat, they did a nice job, and did so for a very reasonable price. In fact, they were even on the lower end of the price range they quoted us. They have made us a customer, as in any future vehicles we purchase, we will come here FIRST. read more

What a great experience again with Chris at the Stereo Shop. He was very helpful on all three phone calls I made to him trying to figure out issues with my marine stereo system. When I took in the amp believing it was the problem he spotted an issue and sent me home to try again. It worked! He didn't make any money from me but gave incredible service. No problems for me. Brought in my car to upgrade the stereo and get a remote start and camera installed. I had done some initial research and knew where I wanted to be price wise. I've also played around with installing things myself but I wanted the wires run in a way that it didn't look like I'd done it myself! I actually came in twice. First to talk options and get estimates and make an appointment. 2nd was to drop off the car. In-between, I did do some price checking. And everything was within the same range. Dropped the car off early since I knew it had to be there awhile. When I called later in the day to get an estimate for a pick-up time, it was about done. Someone walked me through the changes and new equipment. I was pretty comfortable without this but it was fine. I also had someone else in the parking lot with me. But the business should note that some individuals may not want to sit in their cars alone with a stranger. And, if you are picking up your car, bring a friend in this situation to sit with you for the tutorial! read more

I scheduled on 11/12 to have my car installed with an auto starter on 11/15 at 2:00pm. However, when I showed up at 2pm they told me that the appointment was never saved for Saturday but instead for Friday (11/14), and they are now all booked up for Saturday. I was very disappointed; the manager came out and apologized for the error but initially stated that they were 80% sure that they could have my car completed today but there was no guarantee. I then asked for my money back from the Groupon which he stated that the money was still with Groupon and I would need to speak with them. I then asked about the deposit that I paid/they took on 11/12 to be returned; but he said since the appointment was never scheduled that the deposit was never processed. Although he perfusly apologized; I was clearly not happy! I told him I did not want to reschedule the appointment and would cancel the Groupon and go to a different installation shop. Next, he asked me to wait while he confirmed with one of the installers, he returned and promised that they would be able to complete my car today. He shared that he planned to help out with their car load but would get my car completed as close to closing time as possible. After waiting 4 hours, my car installation was successfully completed; even though they were eventually able to accommodate my original appointment, I do not think I will return to this store for any other service. read more

I had them install an after market radio in my van. Initial service was great and they did as promised HOWEVER, the radio was draining my battery. I had to be jumped three times before they could see it again, and they said they 'fixed' it but alas not, but couldn't fit me in for yet another two weeks! I had to purchase a jumper/charger and constantly go out and charge the battery and alas, after the two weeks...still not working and same problem! Had to wait ANOTHER two weeks and they FINALLY figured it out and fixed it. I think they should have been working harder to fix this quicker. If they didn't know, call the manufacturer...and this is an immediate need! I'm happy it's fixed but VERY unhappy with the service. They offered me NOTHING in return for my having this problem. read more

I have gone here twice to purchase and have installed 2 car starters. The staff have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. They were very reasonably priced as well. Installed the car starters in a couple hours and you could have adjusted how long you want it to run too. I recommend them.Upset this location closed. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! They quoted me for remote start/security alarm combo over the phone, I was even a price for the installation cost which was decent, and told me to stop by anytime to make my appt. As I arrived to the store to make my appt, the price the rep gave me over the phone was not good any more and apparently the same rep I spoken with was in front of me since I gotten his name but he has no memory of speaking with me on the phone just a few hours earlier. Also the price for the installation doubled btw. False quotes and they try to screw you!!! I walked out and headed to Dave Lanes Stereo Shop in Henrietta instead, different owner's and better service, great reps and gotten a great price, way lower price than what the shop in Greece quoted me for and installation was great...if you need anything for your installation need for your car, go to Dave Lane stereo shop!!! read more

Just had the Stereo Shop install a new Sony 65" TV, replacing an old unit that had failed. Prior the Stereo Shop had setup our receiver, Blue Ray, outdoor speakers and universal remote. During the install today, they reprogrammed everything to match the new TV. We also recently purchased headphones but were never able to get them to work. They had a digital to analog converter box for the headset and got them too also work. The tech was through, took his time and tested all the numerous components we have. Bought the groupon. Was a little overpriced compared to what other people have told me. Service was pretty good. There was an issue with setting up an appointment over the phone (not sure why) and we were told that the person who set the appointment up HAD to be there, which wasn't true. The guy seemed a little confused as to if my original fob would work once the starter was installed...found this interesting as I think they should know, and the fact that information they gave me about it was wrong. Worse customer service I have ever experienced. Wish I never purchased a car started there and will never return

15 years of loyal business and I will never return to this business again. Long story short, I purchased a very expensive remote car start as a gift for this Christmas. My number 1 concern was that after the vehicle was started with the remote starter, the factory remote would be able to unlock, lock and open the trunk as well. I made this VERY clear. The manager made it very clear and assured me that was not an issue. After the install wouldn't you know this is an issue. I was told that this can not possibly be done and there is no way to make that work. Regardless of the reasons why I wanted it to function like that, I was told that it would. After this discovery I called the shop so now the employee with the tattoos and nose piercing decides to argue with me about how most people are concerned with the vehicle just being started and warm which I could care less about what most people want. This is NOT what I wanted and was promised. He would not focus on what MY concern was which is extremely frustrating. The employee hung up the phone on me. I called to speak to the manager who initially told me that my keys would work the way I wanted and she would not make anything right with me, no refunds, no returns, no exchanges, and no apology. This place was amazing with their service and installation of my aux cord. From the time I called and spoke to a sale rep they were so professional. The day they installed the aux port they made sure I was comfortable and if I needed anything. They keep me informed thru out the process. Then showed me how to use it and made sure I was alright using it. I will never go to the tint shop in Henrietta, NY again, just the opposite type of service that the Stereo Shop have me. I have shopped with the stereo shop for years and routinely receive great service. I have had a bump or two with and install here or there, but the guys always make sure to go above and beyond to fix the problem. I have had 3 remote starters installed over the years and would not go anywhere else for my electronics. They have some of the most knowledgeable and personable staff in town. There is even a cute little dog at the Greece store. Shopped here for years.....will continue for years. ps. One should not judge a book by its cover....guys with tatoos are people too!!! read more

I needed a sub woofer replaced and they tried to up sell me after keeping me there intentionally for 2 hours when they said it would take about 1/2 to 1 hour to replace the sw. Joe Upseller came out w "you need to by- pass this and it will cost $300 and then the speaker [ no bi passing needed just a woofer ]. I was upset at wasting my time and told them no, just cut the power which is a common phrase to unplug or disengage the speaker. They cut my wire inches away from unplugging or dis connecting the speaker. This cost me $81 they eventually refunded. They left 3 screws un done and rattling inside the compartment, some not put in at all. They thought making me wait for 2 hrs would be ok if they sweeten the deal w their T/A agent, she did not like my silence and her bf/ tech Tyler took covers off the courtesy handles and lost them scratched my headlight and car on the way out. These are bad actors in your community and deserve lawsuits until they close up shop. Go somewhere else. read more

I purchased a Groupon for an automatic car starter as a gift for Christmas. They tell my friend that they can't install it until February 13th (she called right after Christmas to make the appointment.) Okay, fine. I get that you're busy in the winter with car starters. What absolutely horrified me is that when we picked up her vehicle, it reeked of marijuana. It wasn't just a hint of it--we had to roll down the windows in 0 degree weather. Even the store smells like marijuana. They had a candle to try and mask the smell. I called the store and asked why I paid $200 to have someone under the influence work on her car. I spoke to Julio. He acted surprised but it was obvious he was the culprit. He called me back and said he "filled out a form" detailing the complaint and that the owners would call me in the next few days. I asked him if it was an electronic form--he said it was an email to the owner. I then asked if he could forward that email to me so that I could have proof of the call in case the car has issues and we have to settle in small claims court. He began stuttering, "uh, I'm not sure if we're supposed to do that..." then he asked if I was sure it was marijuana and not "body odor, because the other guy...smells." I wasn't amused. The other worker's name was Steve. I asked who the owner was since I'm sure she'll never hear of this. He told me that her name was Kathleen. Well Kathleen, if you're reading this, I have something to tell you about your employees--they're going to put you out of business. I wanted to support a local business (instead of just going to Bestbuy). It was a decision I regret. I'll be sure to spread the word around Rochester. read more

HORRIBLE customer service! I went in there a couple months ago and asked if they could check the connection to my subwoofer because I was certain I just connected them incorrectly (would have taken two seconds) and the lady replied "We aren't one of you buddies, we aren't just gonna go out there and check your vehicle. It'll cost you an hourly fee of $85 an hr and you'll have to schedule an appointment". Needless to say I laughed in her face and walked out and went to Best Buy where it literally took him two seconds to correct and I tipped him $20 for being so kind and taking two seconds out of his day to help me out... I would never think of going to this place again and have turned so many of my friends and family away from this place and will continue to do so read more

The service and communication are terrible. I can somewhat understand having to wait 6 weeks for an appointment to get a remote starter installed this winter, but not the lousy treatment after you finally have the appointment. First, the best time frame they can give you for an appointment is a 6 hour window - 12:00 -6:00 pm. We live quite a distance from the Stereo Shop, so we made plans for someone to follow us to the shop and take us to their home while the work was being done. Left the car at 12:00, asked for a "rough estimate" of the completion time, and were basically told they didn't know, they would call when it was ready. I know each car is different, but at this point, they knew which mix of cars had appointments that day and how the morning installations had progressed. The store closes at 6:00 pm, so at 5:40, when we had heard NOTHING, we called and were told it would be another hour. At 7:00pm WE called again and were told it would be ready at 7:30. After arriving to pick it up, it was another 30 minutes before it was ready. So much for Friday night plans. Finally got home about 9:30 pm. So, the whole ordeal took almost 11 hours from leaving home to arriving back home! All of this wouldn't have been as bad if they had just communicated with us. At no point did they call to let us know it was going to be after the 6:00pm promise time or even after we called them - to follow up with their new estimate. I just hope the product works better than the installation went. read more

I have a broken navigation screen on my 2004 Acura TSX. I bought a replacement unit on eBay that includes the 6 CD changer. I hooked it up myself and found that everything worked but the physical audio controls. Then I had questions of compatability with this 2006 version. I called stereo Shop and was talked into bringing it in so they could diagnose and give me a list of alternatives. I just wanted my music to work, even an external head unit would be fine, the car has 200k miles on it and wanted to buy a new car next year but dont want a broken screen or have to settle with no audio until then. I dropped it off on Tuesday and I called back on Thursday. They said they tried calling me but I had no missed call, VM and they had the right number on file. They said the installer would not be able to fix it and I would need to spend $5k on a new unit from the manufacturer. They would not be able to take parts from my replacement and add it to my current unit. They also said because of the situation they did not want to add an external head unit. Basically, every option they offered me over the phone they did not perform even though they knew all the details of the situation. I work 2nd shift and said I would be in on Friday to pick up my car since I was already on my way to work. At noon on Friday I received a phone call saying my car has been ready since Tuesday for pick up and they would tow it by end of day if I do not retrieve it. A few days after picking up my car I had time to look into my options. After inspecting my replacement unit I bought online and contemplating returning it I noticed a small wire harness behind the audio controls that was unplugged! They didn't even inspect the connections! Hooked this back up and working! Called stereo Shop and spoke to a manager and he explained the $30 deposit went to bringing the car into the garage and 30 min of the installers time. Explained all my frustration and how I felt scammed into bringing my car in for a deposit for no work performed and time wasted. You would think the installer would at least check the connections? No refund, no apology, unbelievable. read more

I went into the Ridge Road store on 8/10/17 I ask for a quote for a Sirius Satellite ready radio this idiot sales person with the initials of C.B number 4267 gave me a quote of $ 323.99 I called for an appointment which I got for Sat. Sept 9,2017 , upon paying in cash which I am sorry that I did he also did not include another $5.00 we returned on Tues Sept. 12th,2017 This same idiot was trying to say that I did not ask for a Satellite radio who in there right mind would pay the above amount for pretty much the same radio that was factory installed the only difference is this radio came with blue tooth if that for the record was not important to me already had in another car. If I do not hear from you on or before 22 of Sept,2017 I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General, or the courts should you need to contact me get the invoice from your Greece Store in Rochester NY. read more
