We also asked for a quote on our hood latch release, as it was no longer able to pop the hood. They completed and passed the inspection, and gave us a quote for something like $400 for the hood release. I'm handy and that quote seemed ridiculous, so we declined the extra work and I said I'd do it myself. Less than a month after getting the car back, the front brakes started to grind. We're talking metal on metal. How is this possible? They just looked at it and should have failed it for pad depth, or at least *warned* us about it. I've attached photos to show the blatant neglect and disregard for safety (and the law). I highly doubt they looked at anything if they missed something so brazen. As for the hood latch, my lazy self finally got around to doing it. The only issue was a $11 bracket being bent. The whole mechanism didn't need to be replaced, but they wouldn't know because they didn't look at that either. Looking at all these positive reviews is perplexing. As someone who does all their own car maintenance and basic repairs, this is the most dishonest experience I've ever had with an auto shop. Since the business seems to be monitoring the reviews page, the car was a 2016 Kia Optima on 6/16/2022, owner's initials are BB.

I was surprised because I have brought them previously a car and sent them a lot of work over the years. So let me tell you about the LONG HAUL on your vehicle if you bring it here to Vogels. I would know about long term on a vehicle from them because they did a Job for me in 2015 on my 97 Camaro. This place is decent place to bring your vehicle if you need something fix short term but long term not worth it to ME. To others they are worth it but they don't restore cars really just fix them. I brought these guys my 97 Camaro back in 2015. Let me tell you what it WASN'T worth the price they charged me 6500-7k and or it felt like I was getting harassed by the owner about paying them. Normally you pay for a job when it's finished but he was eager to collect some before starting it and during before he finished the Camaro. I had to pay before they finished which felt like I was being scammed but I was in a tight pinch and had to get it done. After finally paying them in full they finished it up and said we will detail it up nice for you but the rushed they detail guy and I had wax all over the Camaro. Even the detail guy complained about being rushed. I even mentioned the green paint I could still see but they didn't fix it or nothing. I was super bummed about this but I was still happy to get my 97 Camaro back on the road and drive it. Mind you this 97 Camaro sat after it got "restored"from Vogels. Nothing wrong with it but all the imperfections they left, all the chipped and cracked paint I found and the green paint from the donor parts they used to fix it that you could still see in areas. The Camaro wasn't very professional done at all and the service I got from them especially from the owner himself was good and all till the demanded payment. Then it felt like a scam and it felt like I was being harassed. Now 10 years later I have to repay someone to fix all those paint chips, all the cracked panels and a lot more. So in my opinion it's not worth it because 10 years later and 6500 bucks wasted to repay another person. About the same or more to make it look brand new even better then show room quality they said just like Vogel's promised me but Vogels couldn't handle it. Edit : So after I posted this because I got a phone call at 11:17 from there Shop manager or whatever he is there. His name was Eric. He called me asked me why I would leave a negative review because they refused to take a quote from me earlier today? Then proceeded to say I called them because I had an insurance quote done and I wanted them to add more on? WTF? How is that possible when my accident just happen at 9:33 am. So how did I have time to get a quote and call you to ask you to change that quote? So now I'm more annoyed because they tried to call me out on something I didn't even say. All I said was "can I get an estimate done today for an insurance quote". He then proceeded to tell me IDK why you're posting your Camaro now. It's been 10 years and we didn't harass you. He said "we have to get some up front or all especially when it's not an insurance quote because we gotta pay outta packet for materials"? Really? You have to pay for materials? Wow that's crazy. What about regular mechanics or other shops? They don't ask up front for any money. However I was fine putting a down payment down back then. It was the owner calling me demanding money from me time and time again multiple times and said he couldn't fix it till I did. That sounds like harassment to me. Their excuse was "well sometimes people have us fix it but then not come back at all after we finish". I said "not my fault don't judge a book by its cover. You guys are judging people and will only work on cars with insurance claims unless they are GUARANTEED the money before they finish the vehicle". 1

After I brought this up to the owners attention, he stated "you gave me the instructions of how to install your part AFTER the quote was given". Larry, The instructions were emailed to you minutes after I got off the phone with you. You should have did your diligence and reviewed it. If the job was going to take longer, you had over 5 days to call me with an updated invoice. Eventually the original invoice was honored however he told me I am now NOT eligible for a first responder discount. Due to this bad practice- I do not recommend this shop to anyone.

Want to give a thank you to Howard Road Garage in Gates. They did a wonderful job of diagnosing my…read moreair conditioning issue and getting me up and running. It ended up being just an a/c relay, which basically cost $15. I paid mostly for the tests that assured me my air condition system was working properly and that my issue was an electrical malfunction. Before going to Howard Road Garage I went to one of the major complete auto care shops because my ac wasn't working. And they gave me a quote of 2500.00 saying that it was my compressor and the serpentine belt. I also was going to buy a set of tires with all of the additional bells and whistles for installation for the total work to come out to $ 4100. Good thing I didn't fall for the first Big Box company's suggesting and went for a second opinion. I paid approximately 10% of what the Big company tried to charge me for repair of my air conditioner. And now I can be cool in the summer again. Thanks Howard Road Garage. A family owned business. But, my tailgate latch was jammed. I thought it needed a bit of lubricant, or HD 40. Living right down the street from B and B I decided to stop and ask them for a bit of help, advice versus going all the way out to Van Bortel. I went in and asked the attendant for a bit of help and he immediately got some lubricant and came out. We managed to get the tailgate open but there was still a problem. I asked him if I owed him anything he said no! I was impressed. This was old fashion service. B and B automotive has been around a long time, they know the car business.I would highly recommend them. I ended up taking my truck to Van Bortel for repairs, glad I got the warranty.

Another time my check engine light came on right before a road trip. They took me in as a walk in and made sure the car was safe for the road trip and sent me on my way. No charge. Another time I went in for advice and as I drove away he waved me down, said he smelled something different and had me pop the hood to check for a leak. He didn't see anything, but I'm grateful that he took the time. I've brought my vehicle there a handful of times and always great service and I never feel like I'm being overcharged.
