We purchased a car from Auto Express two months ago, and it has been a nightmare ever since. Shortly after the purchase, we began having issues and decided to get a professional opinion. After taking it to three independent mechanics, we were told the car requires over $10,000 in repairs--and more importantly, that it's dangerous to drive in its current condition. If my son and his family were going at a high rate of speed at the time it broke, it could have caused an accident. All three mechanics said the vehicle was a danger to be on the road. When we brought this to the dealership's attention, their response was that we could have had the car inspected if we had asked. We were under the impression that they had a mechanic on-site, given the size of their lot and number of vehicles. This lack of transparency was disappointing and misleading. We have since learned that Auto Express often sources their vehicles from up north and coastal regions, where cars are commonly exposed to severe rust and deterioration. This was never disclosed to us during the sales process. We feel completely taken advantage of. If you're considering buying from Auto Express, have the vehicle thoroughly inspected by an independent mechanic before signing anything, and ask where the car originally came from. These folks are just selling cars on a "what you see is what you get basis." They are very straight forward that they don't care what's wrong with the car, it's your job to evaluate it and decide if it's right for you. They aren't doing anything shady at all, but they did have a whole lot of very worn cars I would be afraid of. The unit I went to look at wasn't ready to show as far as I'm concerned. It had a leaking donut gasket in the exhaust, the cowl vents full of dirt and grass, and the console lid inside the car had been shredded. I didn't even ask them to get it out of the garage where I could drive it. I was looking at a big Buick, but they also had a super-clean Chevrolet Impala with a few more miles on it, but the car was in well-cared-for condition. I asked them to get that one out and we took it for a test drive and found nothing wrong with it but a "service air bag" light on, which we were willing to deal with. The suspension was still tight, the interior in blemish-free condition, a minor blemish on the rear plastic bumper cover, and the engine compartment clean. The motor was absolutely quiet, and running well, and so I left with a slightly younger Chevrolet than the Buick I thought I was interested in. Buyer beware on some of the units on this lot, but they are not misrepresenting them. It's the buyers responsibility to decide if a unit is right for them, and I'd encourage anyone to check carefully. They had some certified junk on the lot, but had some equally clean units in good condition. It all depends on what you want to pay, and how much car you expect to get for your money. Nothing about this transaction appeared to be shady, or in any way intended to misrepresent what they have to sell. They were courteous, kind, and professional in all parts of this transaction. I particularly like that they didn't even offer me an extended warranty, or try to add other charges into the transaction, such as dealer preparation, which I view to be taking advantage of the ignorant. It was cash-and-carry, and if it breaks they buyer gets both pieces. I've had the car in service for a week now, and I have discovered a minor transmission leak. At age 13 with 120,000 miles on it that's a little deal to me, and I'm satisfied with what I paid. read more

Called and talked to manager and he said we bought as is which i understand after 15 yrs in the car business. The issue was this was on the way home, less than an hour from the time I signed. Barron and his staff helped me by selling me 2 different cars. The first one was a 2001 Plymouth Neon which was a good car. Aside from routine maintenance, the car ran very well. Unfortunately, it got stolen from my driveway a year ago. So, I went back to Auto Express and talked to Barron about another decent car. He remembered me from 6 years earlier when I purchased the Neon. He felt bad about my ordeal and immediately found me a 2003 Chevy Malibu which is more reliable than they Neon. Therefore, I'm sorry about the negative ratings posted from others. But, I had a very positive experience and I would recommend Auto Express to others looking for an inexpensive and reliable vehicle. When I went to the DMV to inquire about getting a replacement title (as the title wasn't received) I was informed that the registration and title has not been transferred to my name and was still under the dealer. I called my bank to stop the payment. Barron (owner) proceeded to make the unfolding situation more difficult by reporting the vehicle stolen, refusing to call and report it not stolen after receiving confirmation of payment and waited the full 60 days of my temporary tag to transfer documentation to the tax office (October 18th). They took advantage of my eagerness to get the 2003 Toyota with low miles on it. It should not have passed inspection. I paid more than I should have for it partly because I didn't have it checked even though I know better. It should have been a red flag that they almost never answer their phone. After I bought it, there was still a lot of work that it needed. They burned me bad, and they didn't seem to care. They took advantage of my weakness. Our other car that has 100,000 more miles on it is more reliable than the one we bought from them. It would have been cheaper and less of a hassle to get a used car with a warranty from a more reputable dealership or even CarVana. Update January 3, 2023 After barely driving the car for 3-4 months it has a repair that is too costly, and I am donating it to Junk for Joy. It no longer runs. Hello, I recently purchased a 2012 Cadillac; the exterior and interior are immaculate, with no check-engine lights. A few days later, I took it to the Cadillac dealer for an oil change and tire rotation. Dealers always inspect the vehicle thoroughly for needed or future repairs. I purchased the care for $7950; the recommended repairs total $7570. This was very discouraging! While I understand dealers charge much more than other mechanics, it's still more than we had planned to pay walking off the lot. Per the sales staff, you can take the car to a repair shop of your choice for inspection before purchase. I would highly encourage all future buyers to take advantage of this option. I purchased a vehicle, and went in based on description, no mention of check 1. engine light on 2. windshield cracked all the way (not in picture). I managed to get some knocked off the price, when I called to have the window fixed everyone I spoke to were amazed they were able to sell the vehicle in that condition. When I called back for a copy of safety inspection they said it was from the previous nothing current. DMV needs to look at these business practices & advertising. I purchased a car from them back in the end of May, After I paid off the car I was advised to wait 2 weeks after my tags come in to receive my title! Well my tags were ordered June 30, I was advised tags will be in 2 weeks later. I called every week for over a month and half spoke with different sales people who kept telling me that they would check with the ladies who do the titles and call me back! Well no one ever calls me back so I have to keep calling!!! On August 12 I called because I was like damn, where is my title. I called and spoke with Salomon, or something like that!, who said again he didn't know if it was there, didn't see interest in helping or anything. I requested to talk to a manager, he then transferred me over to another salesperson who then basically went to check and found my title was sitting in there for almost a month!! He then basically told me it was MY fault because I didn't know the fucking date they mailed for my tags!!! He said he asked me and I didn't have that information on hand so since I didn't that's why he didn't know to go into the office and look to see if my title was in!! How the hell and why in the hell is it my responsibility to know when y'all mail the shit out! Ok fine, so I have been calling for a while, plates were paid for before state closed down and I have been checking back every few weeks since they reopened and been told the same thing every time so now when I asked if it could be checked on the guy told raised his voice and told me there was nothing he could do and asked me what I was gonna do about it! BUYER BEWARE!!! Hello I am a US Army Veteran and I am writing this review so that no one is taken advantage of like I have been. I purchased a used vehicle from Auto Express listed as a clean title vehicle with no check engine lights and no mechanical issues. Within 24 hours of driving the vehicle, the vehicle began to smoke and illuminated a check engine light. I contacted the dealership and they advised me to take it to their mechanic. The mechanic pulled the codes on the vehicle and advised me that both of the catalytic converters on bank two were bad. The dealership stated the vehicle passed the state inspection which would be impossible due to the codes on the vehicle.The dealership stated if they had known that the vehicle was in that condition they would have not listed it like they did, it would have been cheaper and listed as with check engine lights.The next day the vehicle was listed the same price same description.The dealership then informed me that I could return the vehicle for a 10% restock fee, that they would split the repair bill with me, or I could pick another vehicle in the same price. Again this is within 24 hours. I picked a vehicle $200 cheaper to which they would not give me back the difference in the money I had already paid. I took the vehicle down to their mechanic to which he stated there were no codes. Within 24 hours of driving the second vehicle, also listed as clean title, no check engine light, no mechanic problems,the vehicle died on the highway almost involving me in a accident due to losing all ability on the highway and illuminated a check engine light. I contacted the dealership, and they advised me to take it to their mechanic again. The mechanic pulled the codes and there were 7 codes on the vehicle including the fuel pump. At this point I told the dealership I would take my loses and take the 10% restock fee. The dealership told me it would take a few days to cut me a check, even though I paid with my debit card. I contacted the BBB and the TXDMV to file complaints upon the business. Once the dealership had been contacted, as part of retaliation they then advised they would do nothing to help me and I was stuck with the vehicle. This dealership is knowingly selling vehicles they KNOW will fail almost instantly and should be put out of business. read more

The manager (Michael) was extremely rude to my 68 year old mother in law, he told us we couldn't test drive a car unless we where going to buy it. They sell used cars with check engine lights on and have no mechanic to tell you what's going on with the vehicles. I was told by (Michael) that I couldn't buy a car there because I wanted to be helped by someone else. He then told me all final sales go threw him and he wasn't going to sell me a car. Just bought a Ford Escape today best time ever. Looked at several autos told Jason just how much money had to spend. Did lots of research from home and saw pictures some good some not but had loads of fun looking and then Jason showed one we had not seen but thought it would fit my needs it was fantastic and we test drove it and it was definitely what I was looking for in my price range and I drove off. Drives like a champ got to change fluids but that's ok knew would have to but got a great deal and Jason was 100% on the money with his help. Would recommend this place but do your homework and know I'm 70yo but have a good ear brought my son for another set of eye's and ears and feel I got a good deal. TURN BACK! RUN AWAY! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I recently bought a car from this place. It's a absolute trash! I had to do a lot of changes to this car. I went to a car shop and I got a 2 paged paper of mechanical issues that the car has! WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR CARS FROM?!!?? The mechanic told me the engine is not original it's been changed from the junkyard. So it could have less or more miles. The transmission has a leak and the engine has a leak too. Auto express never told me if the car was rebuilt, salvaged or anything. They claimed that the car has a clean title and that this car was a good car. Not only that but while i was there looking for cars, I barely had any help the guy that was "helping" me kept leaving and helping other people. At one point he just completely left and i couldn't find anyone else to help me and i had a lot of questions to ask and no one was on sight. Literally no other worker was there to help that I could see. On top of that i called auto express to see what i can do about my situation, I explained everything. They said "it's not our problem" it is your problem is your selling cars from the junkyard. If the car is from the junkyard then it's there for a REASON! But not only that, before I even went to look at cars there I called a head of time to make sure I know what i needed to know in case i bought a car that day. They didn't tell me NOTHING! Just to bring an ID with me so i did.... going back to when i already bought the car. The guy I spoke too told me "you have to bring your own mechanic" why would i have to bring my own mechanic if you claim you have "good" cars. Which I responded with " will i called a head of time and no one ever told me that i had to bring my own mechanic " to what he respond with " wow " This is place isn't good at all, I paid $4,461.80 for a car that is absolute trash!
