The owner responds to EVERY NEGATIVE REVIEW and I believe they then post fake ones to cover their tracks. My story is simple bait and switch where I took my car in for an alignment. Now before I brought the car in, I called to make sure they could provide the alignment report showing the before and after readings. They lied to my face, telling me ANYTHING just to get the $$$. Low and behold a few hours after my wife & I dropped off the car, we got a voicemail stating that although the car was done, their printer decided "to print only what it wanted" which did not include the alignment report. read more

They offered to price match but I'm not sure why I would go back after they tried to rip me off. I was recently in an auto accident in my 2004 Subaru Outback wagon (without collision coverage). I truly cannot say enough good things about the kind service and affordable expert repair work I received at The Auto ER! First of all, it is that rarest of repair shops that does both mechanical and paint & body work at one location. For my needs this was imperative. The Sales Manager, Bobby Kelly, was tremendously helpful, reassuring, and kind from the moment we first spoke on the phone. His outstanding staff was competent and caring throughout the repair process. His assistant, Jose, was patient and informative in answering all of my many questions and in coordinating my requests with the rest of their team. Lisa, the receptionist, was friendly and hospitable. The extensive mechanical, paint, and body work done by Chris was completed quickly and with attention to precise detail. I was actually *surprised* by how quickly my car was all fixed up and ready to go! I was also pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost, which ended up being substantially less than every estimate I had received from other shops. (I had actually feared that my beloved Subie was totalled...) My car is now running better than ever, and actually looks better than when I bought it - like new! (They even clean and detail all the vehicles they repair.) From start to finish, this was quite simply the very best service and repair work I could ever have hoped for. I have lived in Gainesville for a long time and I've been to lots of other repair shops around town. I got really tired of the chain stores and the dealerships, where they lie and upsell their customers, or overcharge them for shoddy or unnecessary work. I finally gave up on those places and started changing my own oil and doing other simple stuff myself. For anything that I can't do myself, I bring the car to Auto ER. They provide a courteous, no-nonsense experience. Their front-desk people know about cars. They give a friendly welcome when you walk in the door and they give you a straight price quote with no upsells or nonsense. Their hours and location are convenient. They finish the job on time. Typically when you are out of town and have an emergency repair the shop will try to take advantage. I told the manager/owner (great guy - wish I would have gotten his name) all I wanted was to get my car on the road and I would do the major repair back in Miami. On a Saturday, the Saturday before my daughters graduation, these guys jumped on my car immediately and we're done within an hour. Great service with no BS. We had mechanical issues while on vacation, called Auto ER 150 miles out from Gainesville, and dropped our car off with no trouble--all on 4th of July weekend! The guys got working right away, and we were relieved to find they knew exactly what was wrong though other mechanics in the past had no clue. Got our car to us when they said they would, and all with a smile! Decided to take our car here after seeing the Yelp reviews, and after having great luck with a South Florida shop we found on Yelp. That was a mistake. Our AC is slowly leaking refrigerant. When it ran out the first time, we took it to our shop in South Florida, who couldn't find the leak, but added a dye to the new refrigerant so they'd be able to spot it when it ran out again. It finally did after a few months, but we had moved to Gainesville in the mean time so we couldn't take it back to our normal place. Auto ER tried to tell us that our compressor (which is maybe a year and a half old) was "leaking all over the place" and would need to be replaced. We told them we didn't want to spend that much money on this car, since we're replacing it soon, so we asked if they could just refill the refrigerant as a stopgap. They tried to talk us out of it, warning that it may not last more than a few hours, given the severity of the leaking compressor, so we just took our car and left. We brought it somewhere else, who checked for the dye and said the compressor is totally fine (of course it is) and the leak is likely coming from the evaporator (which is difficult to access in our VW, so still not really worth addressing). They refilled the refrigerant for $30, and we expect it to last until we're ready to buy a new car in a few months. Definitely never coming back to Auto ER. read more

I owe Auto ER everything. I had a friend get heat exhaustion and throw up all over the passenger door of my car. The paneling of the door had to come off for them to really clean everything, and no detail place in town would do it for me. I went to Bucholtz for a quote, and they told me it would be two weeks before they could squeeze me in. I was not about to go two weeks with vomit in my car. I called Auto ER crying, and they said that they don't normally do detailing but for me they would. Everyone was as nice as can be, and I am forever grateful. I drove over and left with my car the same day. They offered me coffee and to make myself at home, and I felt like I was. They did an absolutely amazing job. My car has never been cleaner, and there is no more vomit smell so that is the biggest plus. I'd recommend these guys in a heart beat. read more

I will never step foot in this place again. The manager is lazy (never greets you and is always reading a magazine), the staff is rude and condescending, and the mechanic is useless. I get that things go wrong with cars, but when they start to critique other mechanics work and say it is all wrong because you took it somewhere else, I have a problem. STAY AWAY!!!!! After reading the response to my review, I am even more upset. I was told by Auto ER that I they couldn't imagine another shop having a lower than $600 for a brake job for an Altima. I never told this shop how much I paid for the brake job I did get (it certainly wasn't $80 as the owner originally put in his response to this review). This just shows how they have no problem lying to thier customers. I was ridiculed for having work done on my car somewhere else. The owner called me and told me that he heard his staff being smug with me and that he has had a problem with that particular person isn't the past. I asked what they meant by the brake pads being on backwards and the owner couldn't answer the question. I have since had the brakes checked and verified that they were not installed BACKWARDS as Auto ER states. I don't mind paying for work to be on my car when it is needed. In fact, I had asked for this shop to look at my brakes because I thought it may be time to get them replaced. I spoke to the owner after reaching out to him to let him know my experience. He spoke to me for 30 minutes without listening to me. I had to interrupt him several times to let him know my experience. I never wanted anything extra from Auto ER because of this experience, I just wanted to inform the owner of how his clients are being treated, apparently he wanted to be more on defense than actually listen to me. The owner messaged me and told me he was giving me a credit after I told him that I didn't want anything from him other than training his staff better since I have friends and coworkers who use his shop. Bobby (General Manager) came out as soon as my car was being unloaded and we spoke about what had happened. I was moving and could not wait around Gainesville. He assisted in making sure my insurance adjustor would have what they needed and helped make them feel at ease to check out the car there, rather than having it moved to their own site. It turns out that part was put in incorrectly and two main bolts were not even installed. What a horrible experience with their service! I wanted to check my car to see if there is a leak issue in power steering line. Their quote was way too expensive and over charging compared with a Toyota service center($320) and a local auto repair shop($220) in Gainesville. Their asking price to fix the lines was about $850. They even asked me to pay Inspection fee which is $55 if I don't want to repair my car with them. The local repair shop and even Toyota service center did their inspection for free. Soooo. I've never had to deal with an auto repair shop before today. The gentlemen were amazing from start to finish they took better care of me than my insurance company and stupid enterprise rentals. Auto er gave me step by step help along with staying in contact with me and my insurance company. Enterprise left me waiting around after i just got done working several 12 hr night shifts. Auto er called enterprise themselves and when they wouldn't come get me auto er drove me themselves.. In their complimentary shuttle to the rental agency and made sure I was taken care of. Auto er is amazing,clean,professional, and as a woman I didn't feel like I usually do going to a mans shop as I call it. Auto er made me feel extremely taken care of and educated me on what a real repair shop should run like. Auto Er was one of the best (if not THE BEST) auto repair shops I have ever been to (and I have been to many). I rarely write reviews on yelp unless the service is something that I feel EARNED a great review, and Auto ER is in "Rare Air" as being one of those businesses. The moment I walked into the door, I was greeted in a friendly, and professional manner by staff who quickly got down to business. Being a busy student, I appreciated how effective and efficient they were with handling customers and their problems, and at the same time at no point did they ever made me feel rushed. By the time I walked through the door, and got my FREE estimate print out in my hands on damages, it might of been 10 minutes (the side of my car hit at a parking lot and got significant damage). I briefly saw the waiting area which was clean, organized, and was generously stocked with FREE soda, water, GOOD coffee, and GOOD snacks. They gave me a fair ITEMIZED estimate on what needed to be done and gave me a timeline of how long it would take to get fixed. They initially told me it would be a week, and I got it back in 6 days. I know enough about cars to realize that the price they gave me was FAIR and on point! When I got my car back, the side of my car looked BRAND NEW, you would never be able to tell it was hit. It looked so good, that the other side of my car became the ugly side. I did expect the car and the work they did to it, to be that amazing. Also, when I received my car, they vacuumed my interior, cleaned my dashboard and surfaces, and polished off my wheels. They did not even mention that they would do that when I dropped of my car so it was a very pleasant surprise. The manager made sure I was highly satisfied and told me to notify him I had any issues after I left. I am 100% satisfied and would absolutely recommend this business for any damages big or small. They do great, honest work and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again if I ever needed to. read more

Always went for my oil changes and loved this place. So clean, always have snacks in the lobby. Very respectful staff. I recently had an issue with my camaro, some electrical problems that they inspected at no charge and were going to have a specialist look at it for no charge to me. I ended up purchasing a new car instead over the weekend and called to let them know I no longer needed to take it to the specialist obviously and asked if I owed them anything for taking the time and they said no and congratulated me on my new car! They truly never try to nickel and dime you and when they do make suggestions to repairs they at least give you an idea of how urgent (or not urgent) the matter is. More importantly the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and treat you like family.
