My husband has a lifted Jeep and it was doing the notorious "death wobble" on one of the front wheels so we took it to 4 Wheels for them to take a look at it since he got the lift put on at a 4 Wheels location in another state. After they inspected it, they called him and said it would be $900 to fix. Woah! Now I'd be ok with that if it truly needed $900 worth of work, but you know how these car repair places can be, so you just never know. They said they wouldn't be able to fit the Jeep in for another couple days so we took it home and I took advantage of the extra time to do my homework on some other places to get a second opinion. My husband, bless his heart, was willing to just plunk down a credit card, no questions asked. Good thing he has me. Lol :P So I looked up some places around and ended up at Mechanic Mike's to get a second opinion. He inspected it for free to get me an estimate to show my husband when he got home from work that night. That much I appreciated. He looked at what 4 Wheels wanted to do(there were no prices listed on it though) and was like, "Wow it looks like they wanna rebuild the whole front end to fix the problem!" So I'm thinking I've come to the right place! I knew 4 Wheels was just trying to squeeze money out of us! Then he hands me their estimate and it's for $825!! I'm guessing he knew 4 Wheels was charging a TON so they figured if they could just get their estimate slightly lower, they could take our business from 4 Wheels and get their greedy paws on our hard earned money. God I hate these car places. So I thank them and leave with the estimate, feeling like maybe we will just use 4 Wheels after all since $75 savings isn't worth it to go to a different place from the place that put the lift on. I didn't give up! I went home and started doing more research online and ended up on Jeepforum.com. That's where I heard from multiple people about Dave at Auto Doctor up in Temecula. They said this guy knows his Jeeps and it's worth the drive! They also said his prices were very reasonable. It would be a 30 minute drive north for us but I convinced my husband we should take a shot. I called and spoke to Dave and then emailed him the 4 Wheels plan of action. He took a look at it and said the same thing about how they are wanting to rebuild the whole front end and how that was most likely unnecessary. So we took the Jeep up there, he inspected it, figured out the problem, and fixed it for us for $170!!!!!!!! It's been over a week now and it drives perfectly. No problems whatsoever. God bless you, Dave!!!! This guy will be our car guy from here on out. My husband has already told all his buddies about him. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!!! Go see Dave! read more

I came to this shop because I know they work on Jeeps. They have worked on my Jeep in the past. Dave Thompson I think he maybe the owner. Today I came in to ask Dave for some help and recommendations. Dave was so rude and short with me. As if he doesn't need the business. He told me his next availability is not until mid April. Dave was so rude and short. He spared no time. The only thing I can think of is that they don't need the business and so I took my Jeep to another place where it was more pleasant to converse with. And took the time to explain what was most likely going on with my Jeep. I give Dave an (F) for compassion, helpfulness. I have a lot of friends that drive Jeeps. I will definitely NOT recommend them to this place. Zero Customer service ! read more

They installed an Eaton e-locker in the rear end of my 2012 jku. I do my best to maintain my vehicle. I am not a rich person and I want my purchases to last, so I am always hyper concerned about mechanics with a different approach working on my vehicle. The work is super clean with obvious attention to detail. The wiring routing for the switch is logical and carefully tucked out of harms way. Could not be happier with the result. read more

So...I have brought my jeep to Dave and he has worked on it 3 or 4 times..was ok for what he did ..a few hicups..but he resolved them.. I just called him today to find out weather a window switch was bad or?? What do I do? He started in about how expensive this was going to be for a new module..I just asked him if it could be the switch.. he rudly answered..if you know what the problem is just fix it yourself! I said excuse me?.. he then hung up on me.. Dave ..I have read on here about how many people you treat so badly...lots of bad comments.. I tried calling you right back 2 times to clear up any misunderstanding..you would not even pick up the phone.. I will tell you I'm in several jeep clubs including temecula..and I will tell them all DONT go here..I know you don't care dave..but this was uncalled for. Good luck with your life!!! read more

Sent my daughter here with her 2006 LJ with a BAAAD sound coming from the drivetrain and the tranny leaking like a sieve. Picked the jeep up today and met Dave, everything he explained over the phone was correct and detailed on the invoice, and more importantly repaired correctly. Dave came recommended and that recommendation, his honesty, his communication, and work ethic have earned a customer(s) for life. Also can't say enough about that Tom Woods drive shaft somehow holding together for months and many miles! read more

I would never bring my jeep to this place if it was the last place on earth, Had an issue with my 2000 wrangler someone recommended this place so i brought it there, everything was going fine till i mentioned the name of the person who built my engine he supposedly got screwed by this person so he saids that had nothing to do with, and he flat out said no i can't help you instead he should have helped me and find out what was going on with my jeep and maybe i could have brought a lawsuit against said person, I'm not from here so i really don't know to many people, it's really sad that someone would treat a person this way just because he doesn't like the person my engine was built by, just wanted to let people know the kind of person this shop owner is and every time i hear someone mention that shop's name I'll be sure to let them know how i was treated when i went there for help and was turned away because he had a issue with the engine builder which i had nothing to do with, people like that shouldn't own a business. What comes around goes around, a pathetic read more

Auto Doctor - Auto Repair Near Me - Temecula, California

Dave and his employees (namely Rudy) installed a Teraflex ST2 lift kit on my '19 JL approximately 10 weeks ago. Since, I have brought the vehicle into his shop on more than one occasion due to no fault of their own (Teraflex initially sent me a defectively designed trackbar). However, on this occasion I called Dave (dba Auto Doctor) because my steering wheel has suddenly torqued itself approximately 1/8th turn to the left, a real safety issue, which Dave ratified over the phone. He was quick to offer to take a look at it this morning due to the inherent risks associated with steering problems, but upon examining the undercarriage and listening to my informative complaints, he absolutely freaked out on me, saying in essence that Jeeps are not designed to steer well, "it's a Jeep thing." Well, this isn't a subjective question. The steering wheel has literally torqued itself to one side, which he acknowledged over the phone as a safety issue. Thus, I am taking my business elsewhere. Dave, I share no hard feelings with you as a person, but that was completely inappropriate to speak to a paying customer in that manner. Your elitist attitude has transcended your down-to-earth nature and has pissed me off. Enjoy your retirement in Utah. P.S. Tim at Consult-A-Tech in Temecula was quick to accept my business and listen to my informative complaints with regard to my Jeep's front end. read more

What a great bunch guys at Auto Doctor! Took care if my 2004 Wrangler & never had one problem. This is a 1st class operation from start to finish! No extra waiting! I was concerned but they got it done without a problem...Not even a loose bolt!! Lol! These mechanics know what they are doing and were so patient and helpful! I couldn't have had a better experience thank you Dave and staff! Matthew and Rebecca King. :-) read more

This is probably one of the last great shops in the area that doesn't just change parts but will take the time and diagnose what's wrong with your vehicle ,I can't say enough positive things about this place. The owner is usually there and is more than willing to take time and listen to the problem and go the extra mile and then some to resolve the issue. I will only take my vehicles to the shop I have the upmost respect for each and every employee that works there. I also like to mention the price is more than fair for any repairs, Worth every penny. I pretty much worked on all my vehicles in every situation but when I am unable to resolve an issue this is total professional shop and treat you with respect and great communication , Ezra read more

When I had first called Dave last week to bring in my 98' Jeep Cherokee XJ, he was very cordial and told me to bring it by on Thursday and they would take a look at it on Friday. I had mentioned to Dave that this is not a problem, as I have another vehicle to drive in the mean time. I called on Friday at 4 PM (one hour before they close) to hopefully get an update on the issues the Jeep was having. He informed me they were too busy to get to it on Friday and that they would get to it on Monday. Well, today is Monday, so I called again at 4 PM to get an update on the Jeep (my thoughts: hopefully I did not spend money on a bad engine; that is why I was anxious to hear the results) and was told by Dave, "Is this the same guy that told me he is in no rush and is going to keep calling me everyday." (in a quite rude/condescending tone). I responded to Dave by saying, "Dang, that is pretty rude to say to a customer, don't you think?". Hopefully, giving him the opportunity to back track on his previous remarks (maybe he was having a bad/stressful day?). He replied, "No, I don't." I have never been treated so rudely by someone who is in the customer service business in my life. Dave then told me he would park my Jeep out front and I could come get it, to which I agreed. I have heard good things about this shop, but it seemed as if they were not interested in providing me with their services or giving updates on the status of my vehicle. I really wished this had turned out differently, but unfortunately Dave's rude behavior and persistence/inability to apologize has lead me to another shop. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Updated per Dave's Response: All you need to know about this business is seen below in the owner's response. I left an accurate review and description of the incident that occurred and all I got in response was name calling and belittling. I simply called to get updates on a vehicle I care about and was met with resistance and unprofessionalism. read more

Had my suspension work done here and all I can say is was a great job, quick, and the service is all I could ask for. Auto Doctor is a great shop that I can trust with my car or truck. Dave is the man! I brought my JL to Dave for a lift, wheels and tires after a friend highly recommended him. I told him what I wanted and he gave a quote. Then he told me what I should get. He recommended better performing parts for less money. 1st act of awesomeness. We made an appointment, he ordered the parts. Meantime, I got orders (I'm active Navy) to Bahrain. Turns out Bahrain is really strict about vehicle mods and a lifted Jeep would not pass inspection there. I told Dave I may have to cancel on him. He already had the parts to include a custom front driveshaft, but the news didn't phase him. "We'll work it out, just let me know" is all he said. 2nd act of awesomeness. My orders ended up changing, so crisis averted. The week before my appointment I got rear-ended. I told Dave, he said he'd work with the body shop to keep my appointment. So between the body shop and Dave, they worked out a time while waiting for body parts to drive my rig to Jeep Doctor to get the lift, driveshaft and wheels installed and then back to the body shop, all without me having to do anything! Who does that?! Dave does that! 3rd act of awesomeness. I haven't even driven the Jeep yet and I have no reservations about writing this review. The level of service by itself is far and away the best experience I've ever had with an auto shop and I was a super high maintenance customer with more drama than most. Give him your business and you won't regret it! Did I mention he gives a military discount? read more

Went back again, this time with my wife's car. Got one of those quotes from the Honda dealer that caused the blood to run out of my face. Her 2003 Accord was struggling to start and I wanted to have everything checked out to see if it was time for a new starter. I like that they tested the battery and charging system to rule out batt/alternator first. The big reason I came back is that after the dealer quoted a price that I can't afford (because they use "genuine Honda parts" was the explanation) Dave gave me a quote over the phone, one that I could live with and I like the way the brake job turned out on my personal vehicle. Made an appointment, got it back when promised, paid a fair price and now my wife's car starts like the day we bought it. read more

Horrible customer service. When I contacted shop, I gave Dave all the information about my Jeep and advised him previous shop diagnosed a Radiator. Gave me rough estimate over the phone, advised me he would try to get to it the following day but no promises stated he was extremely busy but will take it in. I wanted to take my Jeep into a specialist and that was the reason why I contacted him. I advised him I was going to have it towed to shop due to it over heating, I was 10 minutes away with tow truck arriving at shop at exactly 5:00pm. He was so rude didn't even take the time to speak to me, just stated put keys in drop box and call tomorrow and drove off. Called me the next morning and stated that he did not want to work on my Jeep because of the mileage and stated that we did not do a good job taking care of our vehicle. Our Jeep has 248,000 and still running... I think we've done a good job. We get oil changed when needed and get repaired as needed. He stated that he didn't want to repair something and have us come back to repair another thing.... I advised him that money isn't an issue we just wanted a Jeep specialist to work on it since it's high in miles, he said that he did not want to work on it and to come pick it up. What a waste of time, he could've just told me that before I spent money getting it towed there. Took my business elsewhere. I should have got the clue when he was rude and curt on the phone and told me he was too busy for more work but to bring it in and said he would help... but apparently not. read more

Been needing new rotors for my Toyota corolla. My husband called all the "major" companies and they were all charging more than $300 and one place even wanted almost $500! That's crap! My husband came across Auto Doctor while using Yelp and he gave them a call. Our quote was $208 for front rotors and front break pads and that's including tax! The guy we talked to said to call on the day we were taking our car in so he can order the needed parts. We went right after work and they got my car taken care of in less than an hour! Not only that my car now break so much smoother, I was pretty impress with the customer service. They were very friendly and answered any question my husband had. My husband even asked about his Jeep and he was told to just bring it in and he will troubleshoot it for free. read more

I needed rear brakes repaired for my daughter's Dodge Caliber and went to Firestone initially. I had been told before that the drums were ok but I took it to Firestone and they want $375 to replace the drums and complete the brake job.
