I've used A-Authentic twice before and will NEVER use them again. I called and got a quote from A-Authentic 602-714-9886 to" install" (quoted on phone $150.00) my new garage door opener that I purchased and to replace both torsion springs ($149 each for two springs & labor $85.00). I spoke with the office/phone admin and asked every question possible (labor, time, parts (2 springs), coupons, and anything extra, "all-in" pricing) due to the fact that I have used them 2 times before and didn't want any surprises. I even called back again and got the same quoted amount. Then, the A-Authentic guy came out and immediately proceeded to tell us we need "add-ons". I replied "No" because last time I did an add-on with them it caused a different problem with the garage door. He also didn't have our quote and had to call to confirm. He added additional costs: $170 labor on top of the $150 labor/install for opener, $85 additional labor on top of the cost for torsion spring labor, and lube for $19.95 cost. If we didn't pay extra for the lube then they won't warranty the job. If we didn't agree to the extra labor, then he would charge it if he goes more than 1 hour for the entire job, which already included 3 hours of labor in the original quote. Overall, I have come to the conclusion that they must work on commission because he was happy to leave very quickly and not do the job for the original quote of $525.00. So, I ended up calling "Weston at Garage Door Solutions". The job is finished and I saved money! read more

At 10 this morning my garage door stopped closing all the way, because it had banged into my car bumper (oops). So I called A-Authentic. They said the could have someone here between 2 and 3PM. Okay.. a long time but I could do it, so I said so. It meant that a guest had to take a cab rather than have me pick her up, but most likely, even if they were in an hour, that would happen. At 1:55 they called and said they were delayed until 4PM. That was bad - I had an appointment at 5:10 but still, it should work. But... at 4PM I got a call - not until 4:30. I cancelled the doctor appointment less than an hour before it. Not good! At 4:30 the tech showed up. He saw the issue, and told me the door had all sorts of problems. Okay, but that was beside the point - that hadn't changed today. He said that the gear in the box was stripped. I said I didn't think so. So he started fiddling and was adjusting it and getting it close to working, when the motor stopped. He said that it was dead - I'd need it repaired. But, I knew there was a thermal sensor that would shut it down if the motor got too hot, and it had just been run up and down a bunch and this is Phoenix in the summer. He didn't know this and doubted it. We waited, and tried a few times later. Nada. He said it needed to be fixed. I said to wait. He said - well, that would cost me $85/hour and implied it was a waste of time. Okay, well, it's fair to charge more for extra time, but I kept getting this "it's broken" message and was tired of it. Finally he said he had to open it up and see what was wrong. He did, and the motor casing was very hot - no surprise. So I told him to wait. After a while, we tried it, and the motor worked. So he adjusted it and got it working. We discussed replacing it, and he is right that it is due sometime in the not far distant future. And, he knew a lot about the possible replacements - good information. But I'm gonna shop around, because now I don't trust these folks. My gripes: 1) The extra delay was not acceptable. A garage door that won't shut is a big security issues, and it meant I couldn't leave the house empty. The tech's vehicles aid "1 hour service" but this was 6 1/2 hours, 2 1/2 more than I had been told. 2) Throughout, the tech was obviously pressuring me to have it replaced - the opener, the garage door, the hardware, everything. That meant I couldn't trust him to give me an honest assessment. And, this is the second time this outfit has done that to me. 3) The thermal sensor - did he not know, or was he trying to fool me into thinking it was really dead. I believe he didn't know - in spite of the pressure, he is a nice guy and I think just hadn't run into this. read more

I'm always amazed at the prompt service I receive even with a 4PM door breakdown on a Friday afternoon. I typically don't take the time out of my day to leave a negative review. But in this case, I am going to make an exception this past Saturday I had this company send a technician/repair person to fix my two car garage that had gotten a broken spring. The gentleman whose name was Tim came to my home and proceeded to try to upsell me on a set of bearings that he said I needed for my garage door. When I graciously decline because the bearings that were "needed" was an additional $150 on top of the $300 plus the $65 service fee that was added to my bill made me feel as if I was getting ripped off. Once I declined additional add on his demeanor and attitude became very rude and condescending. He proceeded to snatch the bearing from my hand while rudely saying well I just have to let you know it's your house you can do what you want. He then proceeded to move at the speed of light once he realized that I was not going to purchase any additional parts. However if he had been a little more courteous and maybe went into a little more detail as to why my bearings were bad I may have considered it. But at this point, I would not recommend this company under no circumstances or at least the technician named Tim. read more

We called for help on Saturday and scheduled an appointment for Sunday morning, when he showed up he gave us a$778 for broken spring. When said not interested he charged us $65 for service call. We were never told that there is a service charge. We still have a broken door and I feel these guys are scums. I give one star for them to show up but watch out for their out of the air quotes when they have an ad in Angie's list for $385 replacement of the spring. read more

If zero stars were an option I'd give them zero. My garage door was malfunctioning so I had them out to fix it. The so called technician who came out was an arrogant know it all who thinks he is slicker than he is. After bragging about his knowledge and experience he proceeded to give me an approximately $2000.00 dollar estimate to "replace my opener and basically all the parts but the actual door, that he claimed were all no good. This included the springs that were only 6 months old having been replaced last summer. Being a professional sales trainer I smelled a rat and sent him on his way. I can tell when someone is trying pad their commissions. I called Garage Doors 4 Less and spoke with Adrian who said it sounded like my logic board was not working and with parts and labor totaling 260.00 he came out the same day and got my garage door working perfectly. He inspected all the parts and said everything looked fine. He even waited until my wife arrived from work so he could program her car for her. I don't know why so many home repair companies feel the need to rip off the public but I would avoid this company. read more

Came out the very next day after calling we have two garage doors one was giving us problems with the coil coming Unwound. Springs were probably on their last legs over 25 years old and had not been serviced since we had bought the house. Young man that came out was extremely professional inefficient. He explained everything as he went telling me and showing me exactly what was wrong. The work was a lot more expensive than I had expected to be spending but still went ahead and let him service both my doors and he did and excellent job. He was here for about 4 hours and my doors are super quiet. And now i know proper care and tune up needs. I would use them again, but it was not inexpensive. But should be good for another 15 to 20 years. read more

Our garage door was broken & they did a good job repairing it. The down side is that they tried to sell us on more than we needed - new motors for both our doors & new remotes including repairing the door to the tune of $3,000.00. My husband chose to have just the large door repaired which cost $1,000. He then called another company out to assess it. Their guy told us the motors were fine & he was able to adjust the motor on the large door & he also serviced the 2nd smaller door for $130.00 which included the service call. read more

I had my carport enclosed and we got several estimates but ultimately decided on getting a door from This company. I have to say the technician who installed my door and opener clearly knew what he was doing. I saw him using a level to make sure the tracks were level. My ceiling was open so he ran the wires for the sensors and wall button up through the roof so we wouldn't have to see them when I reinstall the drywall. I order a WiFi enabled opener as I am pretty tech savvy and why not be able to see when my door is open or closed from my phone. The technician even spent time programming all the internet bells and whistles at no extra charge. From start to finish I was very happy with the performance of a-authentic garage doors. It was easy to book, competitive price (especially for the door I ordered) and even when the door they brought out had a scratch in it they took the time to order a replacement for it, but didn't leave me without a functioning door. The owner takes pride in servicing his customers. Good job read more

Pros and Cons: PROS-- The guy was very professional. Did a great job in a short amount of time. Recommendations were not off. A quick internet search revealed what he was saying was very genuine and costs were in line with the estimate he gave. I have nothing but good things to say about them! (even though--see CONS--not really about the company but about the process in general) CONS-- A quick internet search to realize I was being charged double to triple on the parts when I could have bought them retail at Home Depot for much cheaper. I have to say though it was well worth it cause I could not have done this on my own and as previously stated well in line with independent internet recommendations and cost estimates. Overall------ AWESOME! I had to come and change my reviews because I thought I was getting taken. And it was not like that at all!!!!!! Thanks to the internet, you can learn these things quick and validate a person and company within minutes of the contact. They totally exceeded expectations and delivered excellence!!!! read more

Let me first start out by saying A-Authentic was great to respond that same day that the kayos started back on 12-1-2019 , for that they get a star. But........On 12-1-2019 a tech came out to assess the damage. My garage door came crashing down. I was told my trolley broke due to frayed cables and supposedly worn out springs and an old heavy garage that needed support braces put on them due to a sag and with all of that combined that's why my garage door came crashing down. Made sense to me & that this could be fixed. Grant it, this is all probably normal for my equipment to be worn out because it's original from 1985. The options given to me were, A.) They could try to repair the door by bracing it with support bar at the sag, replace the cables, replace the trolley & replace the springs, thus costing roughly $700-900 (he told me if I went that route I should just replace the entire door for about $1500). B.) Replace the entire garage door for about $1500. C.) "A Repair", replace both Springs, replace both cables and install a new trolley for about $540. I did this option due to finances and had trusted my options that were given to me to correct the problem. He did waive the service fee of $65 because he did the work on it that day. He did say it was a temporary fix. My thinking was maybe 12 months or longer with all new parts, NOT 1 month and the new cables are already frayed on the left side. Yes that's right, I came home yesterday from work and the garage door broke again 1-29-2020. I feel that maybe the cables installed were not correct for the weight of that door, weight baring load on those cables was not enough. 1 month is unacceptable. So as one would naturally do, I called them back out (quick response again) with the same technician. He was baffled, didn't understand how that could of happened, the cable was wrapped around the new spring bar and the metal wheel popped out of the track. He blamed it on the garage door. Said my only option was to replace the garage door, (now I need new cables again). He did say that there was nothing wrong with the tracks that they were fine (they're original too). Unable to come up with $1500 right away, he kindly disconnected the cables, trolley and electric cord so it could not be lifted with ease from the out side. I am really disappointed that I was charged a $65.00 service fee for him to access the work he did only one month ago that failed. Either they are just smooth salesmen or have techs that really shouldn't be going out to do "REPAIRS". Please, I advise everyone to really do your research before allowing someone to do the work, I know in a panic you want to believe in people and need results but make sure you don't get stuck like me, out $530.00 that could have gone towards a proper repair or even a new garage door. Regretfully yours, Cynthia read more

A-Authentic Garage Doors - New Cables, frayed and garage door off the track. (1 month later) from A-Authentic Garage Door :( - Garage Door Services Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

On August 30, 2018 the spring broke on our garage door just as we was leaving for a doctor appointment. The door was stuck in the open position. Not wanting to leave with the door open and have the possibly of stolen property or home invasion, I cancelled my appointment and went on line in search of Garage Door Repair. The first two companies I tried contacting went to voice mail and the third call I made was to A-Authentic Garage Door Service Co. I explained to the girl what had happened and she said she could have someone out within a couple of hours. Within a half hour after my call, the service technician arrived. My husband and I are in our mid to late sixties and he has a brain injury contributing to dementia from a motorcycle accident in 2012, so our neighbor who is like a daughter to us, came over to make sure we were being treated fairly while the technician was here. He confirmed our spring had broken and while looking at our door said we had other issues going on also and he would figure out how much it would be to get our door back into working order. He went out to his truck to write up the estimate. Upon his return, he said it would be $1,106.60 which included a 10% discount. I had looked previously on line and seen a spring repair was anywhere from $100 to $300. We are on a fixed income and $1,106.60 is a lot of money. Technician said we needed springs, rollers, cables, drums, bearings etc. I asked how much it would be if we just replaced the springs. He said $404.85, but that we would be calling him back soon to replace everything else because we would be having problems. Our neighbor who is like our daughter was here for the whole time the technician was here and heard every conversation. I explained I needed to contact our son who was at work at the time to see what I needed to do. The service technician spoke with our son on the phone. Our son thought this was way too much money and wanted us to get another quote from someone else. The technician handed me the paperwork and told me there was a $65.00 service call. I explained that I was not told there would be a charge for him to come out. He said there is always a charge. After going back and forth for a couple of minutes about this fee, I asked if he could get ahold of his boss. I talked with his manager and explained that the girl I spoke with never said anything about a $65 fee and they waived the $65.00 fee which was awesome. BUT-- we still had the issue of the open garage door and the possibility of theft and home invasion. Technician advised that we not try closing the door ourselves as we could be hurt or even damage the actual door and have an even bigger expense. I asked how much he would charge to at least close the door. I figured he would say $10 to $20. Nope, he says $ 65.00. The same $65.00 which was just waived. After he advised we should not try closing it ourselves, I didn't want to be hurt or damage the door, so I paid the $ 65.00 and he closed the door. Took one minute or less of his time. After reviewing his paperwork, it lists the door parts and it has three squares (Good) (Fair) (Bad) that he checked. Springs is checked bad as it was broken. Rollers-Fair and Bad are both checked and the exact same thing for Cables, Drums, and Bearings. How can all these parts be fair and bad at the same time???? Shouldn't they either be one or the other, not both??? Because of Labor Day weekend I decided to wait until 9/4/18 to call someone else. Another company came to our house today 9/5 and gave us a FREE quote. The same neighbor was at our home during this door inspection also asking questions. We only had to replace the springs. All the other parts-- cables, drums, rollers and bearings were good. $ 210.00 total cost. The door is now fixed and working perfectly. Anyone reading this review, please beware of A-Authentic Garage Door Service. They did arrive fast after I placed the call, but as you can see they tried charging us for parts that were not needed. $210.00 compared to $ 1106.60. Then what I feel is the biggest let down from A-Authentic Garage Door is when they charge two older people on social security (which technician knew) $65.00 for putting down the garage door to prevent possible theft and home invasion. It only took the technician just about one minute if even that to close the door. $65.00 for a safety issue concerning two older people? As mentioned in this review, the technician had talked with our son on the phone and heard his concerns, and also talked with our neighbor who is like our daughter. Both of them had written reviews on Yelp regarding their interaction with A-Authentic Garage Door Service technician and both of their reviews have been deleted from Yelp. Not sure why that happened since our son spoke with the technician and knew exactly what was going on and our neighbor was at our home, in the same room as the technician asking questions read more

Buyer beware here! I saw A-Authentic advertised in a service magazine and decided to give them a try. The advertisement included coupons - one was for a tune-up ($64), another for no service/trip charge with a repair. So the service person (who was polite) tells me the springs need to be tightened. Ok, seems like that would be a "tune-up". Tighten springs, any loose screws, and lube things up - but no that's not a tune-up with A-Authentic!! Told me its $100 to tighten the springs. Okay, so I ask if I can use the coupon for no trip charge because it said it can be used in conjunction with a repair. However, I was told NO, a repair means you have to replace parts - not just fix something!!! Make sense to anyone else, doesn't me?? So not only did I have to pay $100 to spend 3-5 minutes tightening springs, but they also charged me an additional $64 for a tune-up! So $172 later for service person to basically just tightening springs, screws, adjust settings and lube up door was definitely not worth any repeat business or any referrals from me! (They did end up waiving trip charge, but no kidding, you just ripped me off by charging me an extra $100 to tighten my springs). What could have turned into a long term customer who has multiple houses has turned into a 1 time fee for A-Authentic and definitely no recommendations to friends! read more

This company has demonstrated a lack of professionalism and integrity. Upon arrival at my home the technician (while standing on my driveway before seeing the garage door opener) told me that my garage door springs were probably the cause of my problem. After looking at the garage door it was obvious that the problem was a broken trolley assembly. He told me that my current Lift Master 1/2 HP was inadequate for my door and that I needed a ¾ HP motor. This was a curious statement since the motor had been working perfectly well for the past 14+ years. Further evaluation noted 1 of my garage door rollers was loose. He repeatedly told me that I had the wrong door springs. I advised him that the door springs were replaced about 2 years ago and were heavy duty based on my door size/weight. The garage door displayed perfect balance with my existing springs. The technician told me I had a "safety issue" and repairs were performed. He installed a new ¾ HP Lift Master model 8550. The unit has a battery back up system which he told was actually a nuisance and I should not spend the money for a battery replacement. If that was the case why didn't he recommend the Lift Master ¾ HP unit without the battery backup? He replaced all 10 garage door rollers even though only 1 roller was bad. He asked how many vehicles I had since the unit only came with 1 remote control. I told him I needed 1 device for my son and I used my vehicle HOMELINK system for my 2 cars. He told me my vehicles were too old to use the HOMELINK system. Therefore, I purchased an additional remote control and a keypad for my son's use. His placement of the keypad was crooked and he blamed it on the stucco. After he left I was able to reposition the keypad so that it was straight thus the stucco was not an issue. He was given 2 new light bulbs for the opener and after forcefully slamming the cover door 1 bulb immediately broke. He blamed the broken bulb to the bulb being of inferior quality. ISSUES: 1. I contacted Lift Master and was told that motor size was not the important factor for garage door operation but rather whether the garage door is balanced. I was also told about the 855 LM compatibility bridge which would allow continued use of my vehicle Homelink system. 2. Why was I told I needed a new ¾ HP motor when my current 1/2 HP motor was doing the job with no problem? 3. Why was I told I needed new door springs (which he estimated at a $1000.00 cost) when my current springs were of sufficient size/strength to perfectly balance the garage door? 4. Why were 10 garage door rollers (at a cost of $300.00) replaced when only 1 roller was bad? 5. Why was I not told of the Lift Master 855 LM device (which cost about $25.00) instead of my purchasing an additional remote and keypad for $130.00 I did not need? 6. I have concerns regarding an individual that always had an excuse for something not going right and to blame it on other issues. 7. I placed several calls to the owner of A-Authentic Garage Door Service Co. (Mr. Darrell Peruch) and he did not return my calls. read more

Our garage was giving us some issues and being the third owner we didn't know where to turn. Luckily they had placed their sticker on the garage for service. I spoke with Denise who was so helpful and understanding, she was able to have someone out the next day, even with going into a holiday weekend. Reed came out, what a nice guy. He was very honest, and pretty much told us, if we didn't replace it was going to break. What I thought was going to be a $300 job ended up as a $1500+. It was well worth it, and there wasn't much of an option. Being the cost was so high we are going to wait on our 3rd garage to install a motor (house/garage didn't have one).
