Solid BBQ! Had brisket & jalapeño sausage & tasted great. Friendly folks. Would go again.

Glad I stopped by the other day (yes pick up only during the current circumstances) and I'm very glad that I did. I ordered two, three meat plates to share with my family. And boy o boy was it great. We purchased the pulled pork, two briskets, ribs, jalapeno sausage and turkey. For the sides I picked out the fired okra, coleslaw, baked beans and mac and cheese. I have to say my favorite meats were the pulled pork, ribs and brisket. They all had a great taste and were flavorful. The sides were great as well, favorites were the mac and cheese, coleslaw and okra. The sauce was good but I think it was missing something. Not sure what but food itself made up for it. Overall I had a great meal that stretched out a few days. I look forward to coming back once time permits. read more

Austin’s Bar-B-Que - To go only - Barbeque Near Me - Addison, Texas

You'll like this if: You're in the Addison area and looking for serviceable BBQ with a full bar. You won't like this if: You're looking for the kind of elite BBQ you can find at the best spots in Texas; you don't like your meat with heavy smoke. The Details: #1 - Loaded Fries: Yeah. That's not a great sign, right? When the best item on the menu at a BBQ place is a side. And, honestly, the name is even a misnomer. A "loaded" potato usually has a lot of toppings. The fries at Snuffer's have bacon, jalapenos, cheese, etc. But my "loaded fries" here had cheese and my choice of meat (I got the jalapeno sausage). Don't get me wrong. Meat + cheese + fried potatoes is pretty good. But it's not loaded. #2 - Jalapeno Sausage: BBQ is subjective, to some degree, and personally I want every place to have a good pepper-cheese sausage. This was just a spicy sausage. It wasn't bad, though. #3 - Pork Ribs: They were decent. They didn't fall off the bone--which is a positive. They weren't overly smoky. They were probably not ribs I would go out of the way to get. But they were serviceable. The Line: There was no line when I went (Saturday evening). A few people were at the bar. But that's not to say there wasn't a wait. They don't cut your meat at the counter here or serve the sides in front of you. You order at a counter (everyone was friendly) and it comes out later. Other: Considering how many restaurants and people are in Dallas, it's kind of shocking how there are areas in the suburbs where have to drive 20 miles to find superior BBQ. Addison is one of those areas. You can go to Frisco or Plano. Or you can wait in the absurd line at Cattlelack on the two days away they're open. That's it. That's your options. Blu's on Preston has potential, but it's not there yet. And Austin's is nowhere near. I'm not expert in how to prepare great BBQ, but I do know what's good and what's bad. Even if I can't put a finger on why. This is somewhere in between. As previously stated, BBQ is a subjective experience, so you may prefer this over other second tier joints and that will probably be entirely dependent on whether or not you like smoke. The brisket and turkey aren't smokeless roast beef like you find at a lot of mom & pops around town (and Dickey's and Sonny Bryan's). The problem is that it is TOO smokey. And I LIKE smoke. Give me mesquite over mild hickory flavor any day. But this is the bad smoke. And I would suspect it comes from cooking too slow and low. Again, I'm not an expert in process. But the brisket and turkey that I had tried tasted burnt. Plus, it had big globs of fat that didn't render at all. And I think that's what happens when the coals are smoldering. read more

Austin’s Bar-B-Que - Menu & Counter - Barbeque Near Me - Addison, Texas

Weak! Weak in just about every way. Clearly, they are not making their own sausage, which is fine, but I don't think they're smoking it any further either. Even worse, it came out cold! How hard is it to heat up a sausage?! The ribs , in the words of my 13 yr old son, "are mush and had zero flavor". The potato salad was passable, same with the beans. The baked potato, lame, hardly and cheese, two tiny plastic cups of " butter spread " and a tube of sour cream only slightly larger than a ketchup pack. This place is an embarrassment to the term BBQ joint. read more

Delicious bbq at reasonable prices. Lots of indoor seating, a bar area, and booths. You order at the counter and then pick your seat (my personal favorite restaurant style). Atmosphere is calm / chill , and friendly. We were there on a Tuesday night and there were just a few other folks in there, but I bet on the weekends it picks up. Will definitely be going back to try other stuff on their menu. read more

The sides are superior to most BBQ joints, and the meats are quite good. (Try the half chicken and take the leftovers home for later.) Not up to Cattleack's meats, but you won't have to take out a loan for an order of brisket. The vibe is neighborhood comfy, and the management is friendly. It's out of the way for us, but we make the trip relatively often. read more

Austin’s Bar-B-Que - Rib and sausage plate - Barbeque Near Me - Addison, Texas

First time at this BBQ place and the brisket was great! It wasn't dry or too fatty. My friend had the ribs and said they were good too. They shorted us one side (unless they doubled up on okra), but it was still plenty of food! They have sugar cane sodas or the watermelon ice tea. Friendly service and good ambiance. I will be back for more! read more

ATMOSPHERE - 3 Open, variety of seats. Smaller facility. Shares the place with a bar. We were here on a Friday night and should have been hoppin, but wasn't. FACILITY - 3 Nothing special here. The smell walking in was amazing. INSIDE - 3 The interior was clean. They have booths plus communal tables in the bar area & regular table seating as well. Again, nothing special. OUTSIDE - NA None SERVICE - 2 Service was good except for my order was wrong. I received pork ribs instead of pulled pork. The guy didn't hear me correctly. FOOD - 2 Our search is on for great BBQ. Have we found it here? Meh. As I mentioned earlier, the smell was great. It is a good smoke house, nothing too different though or exciting to see. Brisket was seasoned well and had great bark. I also had the jalepeno sausage and it was fine. I tried the wife's potato salad. Wow. Not good. The whole potato in one bite. The pieces were huge. The mac & cheese was decent. The sauce was nothing to talk about. STAFF - 3 Service was fast and friendly. SUMMARY Fresh dependable menu items served by friendly staff. I had good service and good food. Overall not so happy with food. Disappointing... especially for a FRIDAY NITE??!! The one night ANY restaurant should be hoppin!! I was hoping to find a go-to BBQ place...this is not it. It is a cute place, good seating, nice bar area. Empty for a Friday night...-My husband's order came out wrong from the guy mishearing the order. So that was a bummer. I would have liked to try the pulled pork. I ordered 2 meat plate with pork ribs/chopped brisket (I think I prefer sliced brisket) with sides of mac n cheese and potato salad. Food came out fast. My brisket was cold, flavor was okay. Pork ribs were smokey and flavorful but a bit to heavy on the pepper. 2 oz of weak BBQ sauce - blah. Mac was fine definitely better than the potato salad. It was chunky and over done on mayonnaise...just bland. No sliced pickles which I love with BBQ. We don't live over here, so I don't think we will be back. read more

Rolls were a little pitiful. The brisket is very good. The sausage is good for pork sauce and not pork and beef sausage mixed.

Ribs were meaty, brisket was tender with hood bark and the sides are great. That Mac & cheese is like no other.

Better than average TX barbecue with ambience and terrific soda selection. Dirty Bathrooms and janky seating, so, you know it'll be decent bbq. Can't say how it compares with other local bbq as I am an out-of-Towner w/limited experience. read more

Ehh.... I ordered pick up on Uber eats for this order. The ribs were not will seasoned, very bland. And the french fries that I order it seem like they were the bottom of the barrel. They were all broken up and not fresh. Definitely go somewhere else for well seasoned barbecue. read more

I would have given this place a great review...would have. After reading the review and reply from the owner concerning a memorial gathering I can't in good faith recommend or visit this establishment again. I fully intended to leave a great review and come back in. But the absolute rude and inhumane e-mail has now lost them a customer. Laughing at someone's loss is not just mean hearted, it is morbid and completely uncalled for! If anyone has a question read Vicky S.'s review and see the attached e-mail from the owner. It is disposable! read more

Sharing a recent interaction with ownership so you know what type of business you are supporting. This location used to be a bar named Outer Marker. My friends and I had many fond memories here, and she recently passed away tragically and suddenly. I reached out, hoping to pay to reserve the location for a wake. I've pasted their response below, which I think is incredibly unkind. read more

Just a great, low key BBQ joint with quick service and friendly staff. Had live music that night too.

Always willing to try a different barbecue place and happened upon Austin's Barbecue while staying at Home2 Suites by Hilton. It was probably less than 2 miles off of Belt Line Rd on Addison Rd at Keller Springs. Nothing fancy from the outside and your average bbq place on the inside. It was dark and low lighting. The menu was on a chalk board above where you place your order. I had a hard time understanding it totally, so I just said what I was looking for which was a plate with sliced brisket, potato salad, baked beans and an extra side of mac n cheese and a roll and drink. The plate was 19.95, the extra side was 3.50 and the large 32oz drink was 3.75. They did not charge me for a roll was just a packaged roll. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. The potato salad was a mayonnaise based and creamy chunks of potatoes. The beans were a bbq flavored base of pork n beans. The macaroni n cheese was creamy but not real cheesy. The sliced brisket was plentiful. I counted 7 slices of brisket on my plate. It was dry but the mild bbq sauce helped with that. I tipped at the register but probably should not have considering I pretty much waited on myself for everything. So, with the tip my bill came to 36.59. A bit much for one person but live and learn. I'd go back and share a meal with a friend to save money. read more

Little over priced. Brisket was ok, little too fatty and bland. Jalepeno pinto beans were really good, fried okra had a nice crunch but also bland and Mac & cheese was standard. I think for the price I rather spend a couple more dollars for some Hutchins but overall it was ok read more

I've been there before and the sides were just OK. Went there to give another try for takeout. The collard greens were OVERLY salted so much that I had to rinse in water! I'm in The Colony and the closest good bbq is Hutchins in Frisco. No longer! The BBQ at Austin's was just as good. The brisket was tender, not to fatty. Had a great smokey taste but it wasn't too strong. The ribs were tender with a great bite. Okra and potato salad were delicious. There soda drink vendor isn't your standard Coke/Pepsi. It was a local vendor with real sugar drinks. The coconut lime soda was great. Didn't see a desert menu and was too full to ask but I will next time. My office is just a few blocks away and the smell from their smoker has been calling my name since they opened. I finally stopped in yesterday and picked up an order to go. Even though I have worked in this immediate area since 1996, I had never been in this place since it had been a sports bar/pilot hangout previously. I was pleasantly surprised with the welcoming interior. The woman working the counter was friendly and helpful. Since the place was not busy (it was about 11:45) and I saw the owner, I tried to get his attention to make a comment and give a compliment. He was "too busy" to talk to me, but the young man working for him was very friendly and served as a good surrogate. I got my order in a short time and went back to my office. First, I did not get the correct side items (remember, they were not busy). I had ordered cole slaw and what the blackboard called black eyed peas. (Turns out it is really BEP salad, not BEP.) Instead of the peas, I got potato salad. The cole slaw was good; I did not care for the potato salad at all. But the star of the show was the sliced brisket. It was excellent. "Moist" without even requesting it. The sauce is very good, neither too sweet nor too vinegary. I will be back, but probably just buy meats by the pound to take home. read more

I'm not sure if I've reviewed Austins before. But I just picked up a pound of brisket and a slider (for the two minute drive home) and felt compelled. Now, y'all know the quickest way to start a fight in Texas is to declare ANY joint as "the best." But I can unequivocally say this is the best in Addison right now; and probably the last ten to fifteen years (I still miss Solly's - IYKYK). When they first opened, I wasn't that impressed. It was good bbq, but pedestrian. Since then, it's just gotten better. I asked them two years ago to cater a lunch for my brother's co-workers. My brother died very suddenly/unexpectedly and his work colleagues were hit hard by his loss. They were so nice to me and I knew they loved him. To show my appreciation, I sent them lunch (including dessert) from Austins. They did a magnificent job, and I'm still grateful. So, try them for catering. I was reminded how good they've gotten when I practically swallowed that slider whole, even without sauce! For a holiday, it was a steady lunch crowd and no one minded a few minute wait for their plates. It's nice and cool, full bar, a little country, but not obnoxious. The food shines here. It's a bit pricey. Even for very good. I ordered a pound of chopped brisket just for me (and the furry f'ers I live with) at $25. I got it home and I have to say, it looks like a very generous pound. Mama's not complaining! 0h, and the sauce is great! read more

We chose Austin's for our Christmas lunch today. I called in yesterday and ordered, and we picked it up today. Turkey was perfect. Nicely peppered, moist and flavorful. Brisket was really good. Not greasy at all. Pulled pork was also moist and had a good, smoky flavor. Sauce is good. Mac n cheese, creamy and fresh tasting. The one who ate the slaw loved it. Everyone loved the baked beans, potato salad, and the green beans. Sweet tea was fresh and VERY sweet. We can't wait for our next holiday lunch. Such a great choice! read more

I won't lie I was extremely skeptical bc of the reviews. As a huge BBQ lover and BBQer myself this was really good. The staff was very friendly. The restraunt itself was very nice and clean I wouldve stayed and ate if i had time. I got the 2 meat plate with pork ribs and chicken. I love whatever they marinate the meat in its git like a smoky pepper taste. The ribs were really tender and the chicken was so moist. AND they give you HUGE portions. For sides i had baked beans which were tummy and greens that were perfectly cooked. Anither plus i left my wallett on the bench and when i called to see if i left it the gentlmen in the phone was nice enough to go looking for it and hold it for me. Im very appreciate. I gotta agree with the owner you will NOT find BBQ this good in Addison especially for this price. I will definetly be back anytime I'm craving BBQ. read more
