Now I've had the car for awhile (12 years, only owner and I know all of the services done) however it just passed the state inspection and was serviced recently too with no issues. Kenneth, the gentleman who assisted after hearing about the light disregarded my comments and immediately said it was either the battery or alternator. And that's what he was going to check. Ok homeboy, I know that's not the issue so go ahead and waste your time. Surprise surprise when he tested the battery/alternator it was perfectly fine. He had to go back in to get the diagnostic machine I told him was needed. No major alerts, but a sensor was showing concern. Not sure if I wasn't listened to as I was a woman or they treat everyone with the same lack of confidence.

I used to have a lot of trust in First Texas Honda, but my most recent service experience was very…read moredisappointing. My 2018 Honda Accord was diagnosed with a failed turbocharger, and service advisor Aidan Carlson told me that even with my warranty coverage, I would still owe nearly $800 out of pocket. What concerned me was that he began discussing potential out-of-pocket costs before the warranty company had fully reviewed the claim and repeatedly stated that the warranty would only cover the turbo repair. When I contacted the warranty company directly, I learned that additional charges had not been properly itemized and that labor costs exceeded what the warranty company was willing to pay. After I asked Aidan to provide more detailed information to the warranty company, the claim was re-evaluated and approved. Miraculously, my estimated out-of-pocket cost dropped from nearly $800 to $0. The most frustrating part was feeling like I had to do my own research and advocate for myself to get an accurate answer. Had I simply accepted what I was originally told, I likely would have paid hundreds of dollars unnecessarily. Whether this was poor communication, lack of attention to detail, or something else, it left me questioning the transparency of the process. I appreciate that the repair was ultimately covered, but this experience significantly damaged my trust in First Texas Honda's service department.

I've never been pushed to buy anything extraneous, but I've felt comfortable asking for honest opinions on what it is I'm looking for. My second to last trip here I was picking up some vehicle care extras, and asked the gentleman behind the counter for some advice on some serious work needing done to the engine on my vehicle. He gave no-frills advice, and explained everything in an approachable manner. This experience is what made me decide to keep coming back. I'd like to highlight my recent visit, because it was just that awesome! I came in to get additional simple vehicle care items, and immediately I was greeted by Xavier. After providing a genuine warm welcome to the store, he then helped me select my items. Upon check out, I asked him about replacing the windshield wiper fluid dispensers. Not only did he check them to see if it was something I could do myself, but then helped me select the product and instructed me how to do it step by step! Something I previously would have been intimidated to do, Xavier gave me the advice and confidence to do the project on my own. Fifteen minutes later, my vehicle was able to dispense washer fluid again! Thank you to Xavier, and the team at Advance Auto Parts!
