Sometimes, I feel like a bad cat mom. I mean, I pet my cats, and I feed them twice a day, and I…read moreplay with them and talk to them (though not in that weird possessed-baby voice that some people use with their pets)... but sometimes, I just think that they don't get pampered the way they should. You know, like when I go out of town. After having preyed on the kindness of friends and family alike for years, I finally decided it was time to find a pet sitter. I found Bone Star through http://www.austinpetsitters.org. While I was hesitant about just picking somebody out from a list (after thorough website and photo scrutiny, of course), I thought, "Well, it can't hurt to just meet them face to face and see what the kitties think." And I was amazed. My two boys are pretty nervous around most people - one much more than the other (to date, he hadn't willingly let anyone else but me pet him). As soon as Raynor walked in the door, they both sort of scooted out of the room - but after her being there for less than 20 minutes, they were practically eating out of her hand! She has a genuine passion for animals, and it shows. I left my kitties in her care while I was gone for a 5-day weekend, and I returned to find them with little kitty smiles on their faces. Raynor had left a detailed diary of her comings and goings, and evidently, they just loved her. Even my nervous one let her pet him! Having her come by to feed, pet, and play with my kitties while I was gone gave me a peace of mind that - as the previous reviewer wrote - was priceless. And best of all, It made me feel like a good cat mom all over again. Thanks, Raynor!

We hit it off immediately, no need for any other interviews. I like the forms she offers and the information she asks for. She leaves detailed notes about who did what, who was hiding, etc. The hiding cats warmed up to her faster than I thought they would. I am so glad we found someone we can trust and our cats like. Makes it so much easier to relax on vacation!

I have had the pleasure of using Cathy for close to two years. She is amazing with my two terriers…read more She has helped me with daily pet potty breaks and also short and long term in home pet sitting. Once was for 9 days and her rates are still similar to boarding but without the stress on my dogs. I have boarded my pups too but one tends not to eat when away from home. She is great for last minute things and has wonderful assistants to help out when it is the busy season or if she is out of town. My pups are so excited when they see her and she even helped me with some minor pet training. I love her and am only stopping her service due to moving out of the state. The pups and I both wish we could pack her up and take her with us. Can't sing her praises enough and my pups are my children.

I used Cathy for several years with no apparent incident - she was friendly, responsive and always said the right thing. Come to find out, she will say whatever she needs to and cannot be trusted. The last time I used her (summer 2012 - we've since moved), we had an express agreement that she come first thing in the morning and again in the evenings. The morning visit was especially important to me because one of my cats needs special food and was being fed separately from the others and is always ravenous in the mornings. I came home at 3pm on the last day of our trip to find her in our home. She was supposed to have come before 10am. The fact that she was so late was bad enough. When I asked her, "did you already come this morning?" she said yes, and then mumbled something about being confused about whether I wanted her to come in the afternoons too. It made no sense. In all the years I used her, I never once asked her to come in the afternoons. It was just a lie, which she later admitted. She confessed later that she lied because she was caught off guard. Ok. The "truth" was her son had been doing some of the visits for her because she needed to deal with her aging father and she was just there cleaning up since it was the last day. Maybe that's true, but even so, it is unacceptable. We've never met her son, she gave us no notice of the situation, and we don't want a stranger in our home. My other cat needs nightly medication, which I entrusted Cathy with - not her son. This is exactly what happened with Michelle E.'s review so beware that her's was not a unique experience! If you're like me, pets are family and trust is paramount with a petsitter because you really have no way of knowing what goes on in your absence. My advice - look elsewhere.
