Absolutely love Karma Dog Training, especially Veronica! My dog June loves it even more. The class teaches your puppy to socialize, but also incorporates basic training commands. Veronica is extremely knowledgeable and keeps a close eye on the puppies to ensure everyone is having fun, but safely. She spends time going around to talk to everyone during the breakout sessions to ensure everything is going well and gives you time to ask questions if things are going on at home and not just in class. I could not recommend Karma Dog Training (9:00AM Sunday class with Veronica) more! We graduate next week and will definitely be continuing. read more

We had such a great experience working with Zion and Chloe at Karma Dog Training! We took our Boston Terrier to puppy kindergarten and quickly learned she needed help socializing and not getting too rowdy during play time. Zion and Chloe were really patient with us and helped us teach our puppy how to play healthy along with a lot of other great skills and tricks. We had a great experience working with Reed at our home doing a Reverse Board and Train. We have two 3 year old dogs who have never lived in the city before. Reed worked on elevator politeness, crossing streets, meeting strangers, and reactivity to towards other dogs on leash. After 5 days of work with Reed, we walked down Second Street with our two dogs this evening, and had a delightful time with them instead of worrying about running into another dog. We have lots of work ahead, and our Lagotto is already in the group classes. We hope that with another week of us working with our Boston Terrier on the skills Reed has taught us, he too will be in class with the other dogs. I started a review earlier this year where I was fairly, no, highly disgruntled (see review below). I ended up giving karma dog training another chance with Zion and absolutely loved her/it and the South Austin location. She thoughtfully works with each dog and meets them where they're at. Got a super star puppy? She'll give them something challenging. Got a temperamental doggoe? She'll work with their behavior. Her ability to lead a class and balance all different levels really shows how talented she is! Also - she builds her lesson and at the end of every class - we work on handling (which I appreciate because my vet has gotten on me about that!) All of this to stay - it def. matters who your trainer is, but in the chance that it doesn't work out - you can always move to another teacher. ----- I'm almost finished with basic obedience with Arya at the Karma in East Austin (we've done a series of private puppy lessons before and with various different training schools). We like to mix it up and try different places and pedagogy. Our original training school was in Dripping Springs which is just too far. I saw phenomenal reviews at Karma Dog Training and thought we should try it. Though the classes and lessons are pretty straight-forwarded. I have sincere mixed feelings about Karma training. Most Sundays - it's great when the training assistant is present, who is soooo helpful! However, I don't think the actual trainer has spent more than 3 minutes with my pupper (neither engaging her nor me) throughout the last five classes - which leaves me with more frustration than it does resolution. I'd want to put my pupper in another class, but I'd need a different trainer - maybe we just don't mesh well. read more

I LOVE Karma. I have a teacup chihuahua and really wanted to make sure he didn't get "small dog syndrome". We went to puppy kindergarten starting at around 10 weeks and just recently had a one-on-one with Sara. Puppy kindergarten was a great jumping off point for socialization and basic training. It was a one stop shop for puppy needs! Sara was very helpful in showing me how to help with some problem behavior my chi has been having (mainly, he gets super nervous around big dogs!). She explained what we were going to do and gave instructions for the actions I should take. My pup loved her and she also showed us a few fun commands, like turn around, shake, and roll over. We were new dog owners of a 8 week old puppy, Wally. So, we tried a combo through Karma Dog Training, 3 private sessions with Sara Merrell plus puppy kindergarten classes in Round Rock with Kate B. Sara provided us information on crate training, puppy schedules, potty training, puppy safe environments, socializing your puppy, stay off the couch and more. She also trained him how to walk on a leash, "leave it" and "roll over". She was very kind and patient with little Wally and he loved seeing her every time she came for a visit. Kate B. and her staff were also excellent teachers and assisted more with socialization and the 7 commands that help your puppy become a well behaved dog. After my first session, I can already see more confidence in my pup. She feels comfortable playing with bigger dogs after socializing and can already sit and lay on her own. My dog, only 3lbs right now as a puppy, acts like she is bigger than most because of the socializing. The trainers are great with all the dogs, and they really know their information!! I set up an in-home training and puppy group classes through Karma Dog Training. The group classes are great because its a great socializing opportunity for my pup and we work on basic obedience training. The in-home training was with Sara Merrel and she was absolutely wonderful. We covered a lot of the stuff that would be difficult to cover in a group class (such as nipping, potty training and additional in-home obedience training) and Sara presented it in a way that would be easy to incorporate into our daily lives. Also the set up time and contact time for the training's was very prompt. They contacted me back within a couple of days and we had the training set up early next week. read more

When two very cute pit mix puppies were left on our doorstep we realized we were in a world of insanity if we didn't get them in a puppy kindergarten class asap. We chose Karma based on the yelp reviews, and we were greeted with exactly what we had read about. The cost and location were wonderful and the trainers are beyond amazing. They teach for the "7 Requests for Success" rather than command, dominance or discipline type trainings. I wasn't sure at first about "rewarding the good things and ignoring the bad causing them to disappear", but within the first week the puppies were picking up the "good things" so quickly. We had done two classes when they gave us a 2 week break so we didn't have to bus the puppies in during ACL (Karma was meeting at Casa de Luz right off of Lamar and Barton Springs at the time). We decided that we didn't want to kill the momentum so we took them up on some private in-home training. Reed (one of the trainers) came to the house and before we stared working with the puppies took some time to ask us what the things we wanted to work on were and if there were any specific issues. When we mentioned the major issues, she had what I now refer to as "the hard talk" with us. She asked what we knew about raising littermates together. When we said, "very little" she told us about Littermate Syndrome, and then walked us through what behavioral issues we should watch out for and what we could do to curb them. It was going to be a lot of work. She made sure we understood that we had to make a choice. Either we spend the next year keeping them separated (walks, sleeping, playing, eating, EVERYTHING) so they have a chance to grow up as predictable, whole dogs or we make the tough decision to adopt one out. We did a ton of research that night. There were emotions and waffling, but we couldn't find a single bit of research pointing to the contrary. So we made the choice and adopted one of them out. It was hard. But they were both brand new dogs within days. Reed came to our house and sat at our table and had a very hard conversation with us. That kind of courage doesn't come often. Karma could have capitalized on our puppies with increasing behavioral problems for years. If it was just this alone, we would recommend Karma to anyone. The fact that we have an extremely well behaved, attentive 7 month old puppy is why I wanted to spend time telling all of you. Since we got Tesla, cooking dinner was a two person job. One of us cooked and the other entertained the puppy. After the "go to your bed" class, I put the bed we worked with in the kitchen. It took a few rounds, but within minutes he was staying there long enough for me to season the meat, then cut an onion, then carrots, eventually he just laid down and I finished up dinner. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! When Thanksgiving rolled around a couple of weeks later, everyone was in awe of how polite he was while dinner was being prepared. They even mentioned possibly getting a puppy. I told them this wasn't magic, it was Karma and a lot of work. One of the biggest things we learned was that the training was more for the human than the dog. And boy are we learning ;) Recommend to everyone! read more

My bestie's dog was afraid of other dogs and was very aggressive with my puppy. Sara spent three sessions with us and after that the dogs got along well enough that they had sleepovers. Our chocolate lab, Bhym was at puppy on boarding and it's been the best investment ever! He came back with bite inhibition, basic loose leash walking, and other basic obedience commands. We've been following up with puppy kindergarten on a weekly basis and Kelly is a great instructor. Reverse Board Training + Mariyah Swanson was the magical combo my poor little ADHD puppy needed! I had very little time to spend teaching my dog anything at all, but after only a couple days with Mariyah she was already understanding the basic commands. Mariyah was extremely sweet and patient with her, and I really enjoyed the daily recaps (with photos) that I received. My dog came away with much better manners, and I came away with an understanding of how to continue the progress once our time with Mariyah was complete. Love this place, we have taking our cavapoo puppy for socialization puppy classes for three weeks now and we could not be happier with the results. I decided to work with Karma Dog Training because of the abundance of positive reviews. My two year old AmStaff needed some training and I needed to learn some management skills, and thankfully we got the help we needed. I signed up for 3 training sessions, and they've been a wonderful foundation for us to build on. Our trainer, Reed, was very helpful and knowledgeable. I've already seen the positive changes in my dog and I enjoy seeing her potential! Her leash/dog reactivity has improved and I'm so thankful. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I haven't used any other services (classes, boarding, walking, etc.) and I have not seen the business in person (only met with trainer at different locations.) I got a puppy on a whim and had no idea what I was in store for! The staff at Karma Training have all been incredible! I signed up for the puppy socialization class, and it was been such a wonderful educational and supportive class for both me and my puppy! Karma dog training has been one of the best experiences for me and my dog, Elvis. The puppy classes are great and the trainers are amazing! Angelika is the best! She has worked with Elvis and I personally and has been so kind and helpful. Angelika watches Elvis in her home every Thursday from 8-4 while I'm in class. At first I was uneasy about leaving Elvis with someone I didn't know but I trust Angelika 100%. She does such a wonderful job with him and always keeps me posted throughout the day. She is very professional and reliable. She always uses positive reinforcement and it is very effective. She has even taken the time to help fix some of Elvis's behavioral issues while he stays with her during the day. I can already see so much progress in him! She is incredibly knowledgable and I can tell she really cares for each dog she trains. Elvis loves spending time with her and her playful dog Pearson. I am so happy we found her!
