Don't go here. Ref's were overly abusive in the field and will kick you out for absolutely no reason.

Drove by this place a hundred times but never really gave it a thought as I haven't played in years…read moreand quite honestly really didn't think I wanted to play anymore. Little did I know, whether I wanted to play or not, I was going, along with the guys I hang out with in the hood. My wife booked Sunday afternoon for my birthday. Just to put this into perspective, I'm 56 and the average age of the crew is 61, so yeah did not think this was going to be a good idea, figured at least one of us would have a heart attack. If nothing else require oxygen masks. Anyhow we arrived at our planned time and was greeted by Larry to fill out waivers and discuss what guns, masks etc. we wanted. He then took us for the safety brief and lead us to the playing areas. He also designated a covered area with picnic tables for coolers etc. There are four playing areas, one speed game with plastic barriers and two other fields with pallets, fences, bridges and forts. There is another area but we didn't use it, it is a large area about a 1/4 mile long. At first it was a little rough going as a couple of the guys never played before but once they got the hang of it, it was a blast. We played around 15 games in the three fields. There was only one other group so we were basically on our own pace. Play a round, set down for a few minutes to catch our breath, then back at it. The grounds are very nice, plenty of covered seating areas and bleachers on one side of the speed round field. The staff was excellent, Larry somehow, after seeing our names on the waivers knew who each was and called us by our first names. I think the staff was amazed that a bunch of seniors had the courage to play and make it out alive, lol. We are already planning another day at Charlies.

Unsafe conditions. Rules not enforced. Underage and unprofessional staff who are undertrained and…read morenever supervised. My son and his friends have discovered that the short drive to Round Rock enables a much better and safe experience at a professionally run paintball business called "Outlaw" which is actually reasonable and cost effective. Desert Storm paintball is overpriced and a huge accident waiting to happen. Will it be you or your kid? Don't go here.

I reserved a time for 7 players thinking it would just be the 7 of us playing against each other,…read moreor against some reasonably paired up players. Upon arrival where it was quite evident you had to know someone to understand who and where to check in with. Once we checked in and had the rules explained to us, we drew our guns and paintballs. Nothing fancy and definitely not high powered, so I expected a fair game. We were divided up into 2 teams for the first round, roughly 10 people per team. That is manageable. First round went fine. Had a few speed ballers playing, but overall fair match and play. Went Round 2 in the woods and was expecting more of the same, but this time we ended up with teams of 14-16 on each side. Way too many and totally unmanageable by 1 referee. Towards the end of this match, I was hit in the back by a speedball shooter, so I got up to exit (holding my gun up and saying "I'm out"), nope to get peppered on my front by 4-6 more shots. I yell out that I'm already out, but the speed ballers keep shooting. In my anger, I popped one in the leg on my way out, and he peppered my back with between 25 and 30 rounds. Leaving welts and bruises across my entire back. When I pointed it out to the ref, he did nothing. I reported it to the manager, but got nothing really from him. I didn't ask that the guy get removed, which I probably should have done and I do understand that I shouldn't have shot the guy on my way past, but his response was totally uncalled for. And the reaction of all the staffers leads me to believe that they condone this behavior. So for those who are looking for paintball in this area, look somewhere else. I would say to read each of the negative reviews and take it at face value. I probably wouldn't have even reviewed them except for the poor behavior by the players, and I certainly wouldn't have booked with them if I'd have checked Yelp first. For the person who said this place wouldn't get another $ from him, I echo that comment and strongly discourage folks from going there if it is your first time or you are a novice at the sport.
