We're not too sure how busy it gets here but would still recommend reserving anyways. The parking lot out front is pretty tiny but we got lucky with a spot, just expect to circle once or twice if needed. The inside is very nice and so was the front desk person. Reserving was a tad tricky online but check-in was a breeze. They do offer both indoor and outdoor courts so keep that in mind when you book for options sake. The courts themselves are great. Very clean and well maintained with a side area for bags or anything you don't want on your person. The whole vibe of this place is very Austin, in a good way. They have an upstairs area where it looks like you can hang out as well as ping pong tables out front. This feels like a very community driven place if we've ever seen one. Eastside Paddle Club is a great place to reserve a court and play some pickleball and if not for living up near The Domain this would probably be our go to spot. If you're in the East Austin area and unsure about where to start your pickleball journey then look no further. This is the place to go!

When I first checked the website to reserve an open play spot, it was a little confusing: Level 1: Beginners (newbies and advanced beginners); there aren't many options for these sessions in the morning. Level 2: 3.0 and up (intermediate to advanced). This is the level my husband and I played, and we were right on par with the other players. Level 3: The advanced-elite level. Overall, we had fun from check-in to check-out and even walked away with some great T-shirt swag. I was so happy I didn't have to pack my own paddle since I could rent a Selkirk Broomstick Elongated there.

Cons: Maybe not so much cons, I just think APR has become a bit stagnant compared to East Side Paddle Club. ESPC is cheaper, with more courts, and just as many events, clinics, and open plays. ESPC also has family plan, which is very nice on the wallet. Level of play seems more challenging at ESPC compared to APR, and just generally more buzz. Still very solid place to pay, I just think they need to be more innovative or come down in price.

Spaces are too small, and you can guarantee your car getting dinged. Mine already has, and I was even in the car when she did it, I confronted her and she just gave me a nasty look and did not apologize. I had to leave it at that since she had a small child with her, but she apparently didn't give AF. I've noticed similar behaviors with other patrons who park there. I use the pool here - it's outside. Most of the inside of this place is carpeted, which is quite odd, when you come in from the pool or the spa or indoor pool you walk on carpet and the carpet gets drenched. Not good. I detest that you have to walk all the way through various hallways and by the gym and the other pool to get to the locker room if you're coming / going to the outside pool. Kinda feels like you're at a hotel and having to walk down the carpeted hallway bypassing several rooms / areas in your swimsuit, or if you're wet with a towel. The indoor pool is fine, but when they hold those Zumba courses there - that Zumba instructor is - how can I saw this - irritating to say the least. She has forced a rule - you cannot turn on the jacuzzi jets during her classes because it's too loud and they cannot hear or talk to each other. This has been a bothersome rule for years now, and many of us have complained, yet this Zumba instructor wins all the time. I get it when you have a full pool of people, but some of her Zumba classes have only 4-6 people attending, they take over the whole indoor pool, she blasts the music so damn loud it's like you're at a club, and they don't talk to each other anyway so WTF?? They could use the other half of the pool (away from the jacuzzi) since there's only 6 of them, so everyone can use the facilities, but after complaining about this - I was rejected. I was also informed by several other members - they have complained too but have also been rejected. It's irritating AF and it's not respectful when there is no compromise. The basketball court is smaller here. The weight room is open and carpeted. The showers are okay, the bathrooms at times could be cleaner, the men's locker room is on the smaller side and quite compacted for space. The outside pool - it's heated during the winter time and it's open all year round. Swam the other day - it was 75 degrees outside temps and pool was 88 degrees, it was nice. But once you get out of the pool - yikes. But it's a nice change of pace here. They just updated the deck space around the pool. Service here has always been nice. Never had a bad experience with the any of them, all very responsive and answer my questions and good customer service. I don't frequent here as much but will go sometimes if it's convenient for my schedule. Can we just work out the Zumba lady and jacuzzi jets please?

Played pickleball there a few times and love it…read more Staff is great, facilities are great. Yesterday after playing, I sat at the bar watching the Spurs in the NBA finals for an hour. Absolutely enjoy spending time there. Covered courts were packed headed into early evening and tennis filled up as the sun set. Lovely place to be.

I think this is what happens when you get a bunch of players that come together and create a business. That or the business is a front. The other major flaw is their business model. There is almost never any players there partially because their ridiculous initiation fee of $300. I'd consider paying $100/month which is their monthly due but the initiation fee is outrageous especially because they hardly have any members. If nothing else, they should waive that fee until they have a significant enrollment and be grateful for anyone willing to play outside in the summer. The facility is beautiful and the staff very welcoming and knowledgeable but "What were you thinking!!!" ... Outside... C'mon Man!!!

I was informed of this and experienced it first hand. This place has had a high turnover rate with instructors and I can see why. I made the switch to Caswell Tennis Center 2-3 months ago and I'm glad I did. The players are nice and friendly and the instructors are nice and down to earth. Glad I made the switch to Caswell tennis center. I don't have to kiss up to the instructors there, just play and have fun.

My little athlete has played in various leagues like: I9 Sports, Neighborhood Sports, YMCA Sports…read moreand other individual leagues and we have yet to have an experience as GREAT as this one. Here's the rundown on the organization: It was originally chartered in 1950 and is the FIRST Little League organization in Texas; and it's still THRIVING. The organization is all-volunteer, parent-operated, youth baseball and softball ball program that serves boys and girls ages 5-19 living in Austin, Texas. Chartered both as the South Austin Little League and South Austin PONY League, and operates on four playing fields: Reeder Field (Tee-Ball) Weber Field (Coach Pitch and Up) Wright Field (Coach Pitch and Up) Preston Field (High School Baseball/Regulation-Size Field) Just a side note: the fields are NOT maintained by the City of Austin, but volunteers; those for which are highly dedicated to the organization and spent many of their free hours maintaining the fields. The ONLY complaint I could have is that Reeder Field doesn't seem to get the same care the other fields do, it's hardly mowed short, never lined and there's no dirt in-between bases to give the traditional look like the other fields (I think it would help the kids actually run directly to the bases and know where to stand in the box). As well the signs do not work at this field (or are never operated, its t-ball so score doesn't truly matter). On a personal note: I would love it if they had traditional jersey's with team names like major league ball, rather than the SA symbol; but I believe that might keep costs down and allow for more time spent learning and playing. Ah, but we have been ever fortunate to have a great coach and team; we love this organization and are proud to say we are a part of it! The coaches enjoy it and are actually dedicated to working with the children. If you have a little baseball enthusiast and you're looking for a go-to league where your child WILL learn how to play ball and enjoy it, go sign them up with the South Austin Baseball League. The locker rooms/showers are usually dirty/mildewy and that's unfortunate. The swimsuit spinner has a moldy smell coming from it and it leaks onto the ground so I don't recommend it and to be careful since the floor is often wet. But if you really need a gym or pool access in east Austin, this is a place!
