Crystal was great with explaining how the virtual batting cage worked and made sure we were good to go.

We've been coming to D-BAT Austin multiple times, not just once or twice, and unfortunately the…read moreexperience has been consistently disappointing. The staff doesn't really help when there are issues. The pitching machines also don't work properly. One pitch goes way up, the next one goes straight, and the dashboard where you're supposed to adjust the height doesn't seem to work. This happens almost every time we visit. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because it's an indoor facility, so at least there is a place to practice when the weather is bad.

Would not recommend. Went twice in the last week and both times the guy at the front looked and…read moreacted like he didn't want to be there. It wasn't at all busy, and the pitching machines were not really functioning properly, which frustrated my son both times we were there. He was even commenting on how it was pitching too high, among other things. The second time we went, I said something to the same older guy at the front and was told that there wasn't a problem with it before (read a review from another person a month ago with the exact same problem, but carry on). And while calibrating did fix the height problem it was still hitting inconsistently out of the strike zone. I am not returning. There are plenty of other facilities in the area that have better customer service and don't gaslight you into believing the pitching machines are perfectly fine when other reviews say otherwise. The people who work there don't need to greet people like we're in a clothing store, but a "hi, welcome" can go a long way.

I had a coupon for me and a plus one to have a reserved seat for free at the Dell Diamond, and I wanted to take advantage of it. I convinced my buddy to go with me to an opening series game where the Round Rock Express faced the Gwinnett Stripers. We agreed to go on a Wednesday to get our dollar hot dog night on. You know how that goes. Of course, going to every sporting event feels like they are going to nickel and dime you. It's $15 for parking, so if you can carpool, I'd highly recommend it. Beers range from $12 for domestic to $14 for craft. Everything is pricey. The hot dogs still remained $2 the whole night. Selfishly, I ate 5 over the nine innings. I didn't eat much through the day, and a decent ballpark dog was calling my name. As for the actual game, it was over by the second inning. The night was very windy, so no balls had a chance to go yard. The Stripers scored 6 runs at the top of the 2nd and it was 7 scoreless innings for the Express. Ay caramba. The nice gentleman in front of us was at the game with his wife and gave us good conversation. We watched kids rabid for the flying foul balls. Sometimes the game isn't even the most entertaining part because the stadium has a story of its own. The hot dogs were very nice. At a dollar, they could be lukewarm, soggy, and wrinkled, but they were dense, flavorful, and actually pretty good. Sometimes I wonder if dollar dogs are cheaper and they probably are, but you couldn't fool me. They weren't jumbo quarter-pound dogs by any means, but they were a normal quality-sized wiener. I drank a draft of the Love Street Blonde, one of my favorite common craft beverages, and got a can of Michelob Ultra from a very nice hawker that I obviously tipped. I just don't really like Michelob Ultra, I realize. I took a stroll through the Dell Diamond before leaving and there's a lot of cool spots from their yard in the back, which is great for just relaxing during the game, though the view isn't the most ideal for the action (great for bombs though). There's a full bar as well with baseball simulators and TVs showing other games, but if I'm paying money to park and watch a game, maybe that's not the move IMO. Regardless of the Express getting rocked by the Stripers, I had a great time and want to return to more Express games this season. As a young adult, the deals on weekdays are too good to pass up. Thursday might be a move in the future for those $4 domestics, $7 drafts, and cheaper food options around the park. Maybe next time the Express will get more runs than hot dogs I ate. So, I decided to check them out with my wife and we had an amazing time! Honestly, ticket prices are definitely reasonable. The stadium isn't huge, which is a good thing. Modern facility with private lesson areas as well as both baseball and softball options. The cool thing is you can pick whether you want low, medium, or high pitches and either fast ball or curve ball which is a nice feature in case you want to work on specific fundamentals. You pay before hand and they give you a card that you swipe each time you want to go. They provide bats and helmets and have sizes for every age and shape. Pro tip; bring a batting glove or two as those inside stingers can really give you a zolt! I think we paid like 30 bucks and both hit like 6 or so times (each was around 15-17 pitches if I remember correctly). We were done and still had some money left on the card for next time. Giving it 3 stars mainly due to the fact that you have to pick up your own balls and put them in a bucket/dump them back in the machine. All the other cages I used to go to as a kid, like 25 years ago, the balls automatically went back into the machine. Oh well...not a huge deal, but kind of a pain. Overall would highly recommend for kids and adults!

Sold on limited rosters and development of skills needed, with a lot of game time, quickly turned into 18 on the roster and limited play time. College recruiting was non-existent on our behalf. What college coaches my daughter had been writing recruiting letters to, soon turned into herding the college coaches to see other girls and not my daughter when they showed up to see her play at tournaments. Big D-1 colleges and the recruiters would direct them to another girl on the Blaze organization, not my daughter. The final straw for us, was the ASA Qualifier in Houston, when my daughter was 16. She had 3 colleges show up to see her in action. With 18 girls on the roster, my daughter sat 3 full games. The coaches left and then they finally put my daughter into the game, because the favorite"chosen one" was making error after error in exhaustion. She went 5 for 5, with some spectacular defensive plays, but the coaches had left. Switching things up and combining teams, they hired ex-Texas Longhorn players to "coach" Coach? All they did was cuss the girls and criticize, belittling the team. Anyone can coach. It takes a special person to instruct and be a student of the game. Your daughters confidence will be shot, if you are not the chosen stud and favorite of the coaches, once you get into the 16 & 18U teams. You will just be fill to pad the pockets of the paid coaches and pay to get the other 18-U Gold team to prestigious tournaments. If you are not one of "The Chosen" leave this team immediately, or your daughter skills and confidence will be trashed. What killed my daughters confidence the most and made here think she was not good enough to be a part of the Blaze Organization was, they don't take your team to Colorado. They pick their "chosen ones" from several teams to build a team to go. Those left behind feel they are no longer part of the team. At that point LEAVE. Don't even think it will get better, because it won't. It will only get worse. From High School District Offensive player of the year, as a freshman, and District MVP as a Sophomore, to a bench warmer, because she was not "the rich and chosen" My daughter declined while with this organization, at the time she needed to be excelling. It is going to take us a lot of time to get her back to where she was before this organization ruined my daughters drive for the game. Buyer Beware!
