Who doesn't love a good game of paintball? It's a game that can be played by many with various skill levels. Games can also be played either indoors or outdoors and take various forms, of which some of the most popular are woodsball, scenario, X-Ball and speedball. Rules for playing paintball vary widely, with most designed to ensure that participants enjoy the sport in a safe environment. A game of paintball usually involves two opposing teams seeking to eliminate all of the other team's players or to complete some other objective, such as retrieving a flag, eliminating a specific player, or other paintball variations. Depending on the style of paintball played, a paintball game can last from seconds to days. Thing One recently turned 18, so I decided to throw him a birthday bash at this location. I elected to go with a private party which means that party goers would only be playing with others who attended the party and not outside players (this is a $100 upcharge in addition to player costs and includes an individual host who stays with the group for the duration of the time spent at the venue). The cost per player includes gear and paintballs. Prior to the game starting, players are given a safety briefing and basic facts about how the game can be played. I also learned some fun facts about the game, like paintballs travel at speeds up to 200 miles per hour and the fill inside a paintball is not actually made of paint. Paintballs are made of non-toxic, biodegradable materials. You could eat one, but it tastes terrible. Yelp fam, my question is, who was the first person to discover how these taste and whhyyyyyyyyy? The group of 12 in Thing One's party had the space from 2 PM to 6 pm. Although the hours for play are slated for a designated time, as a private party, we were able to stop and start games as we needed to. I requested to stop the game for a pizza delivery and for the Kona Ice truck I rented just for the party. At one time during the party, I requested that management take a cooler of drinks to the party on a golf cart from to main tables to the "Crack House" where the party was playing and the request was gladly obliged. The party played on three fields, the "Crack House", "Vietnam", and "Airball". Each field provided a different experience for the players (all of them fun). While you can't put a price on happiness, the costs for the party of 12 (private party); $628.00. This does not include the extra paintballs I bought. Players are given 500 paintballs, but kids will be kids...extra paintballs are a must when you have teenagers shooting their guns in the air like they are in GTA. Overall, this was a great experience for all who attended the party. Words to the wise, wear long pants and long sleeves for paintball. Otherwise, it can get messy!

We went for the first time and it was so fun! I picked this place because it looked like it had the biggest fields and best variety of options. We came for my son's 14th birthday party. Family of 4 plus a friend. So much fun! You definitely need to be prepared for outdoors activity- think hiking! Does it hurt- yes. I have a few bruises. No big deal really! It stings but I was so caught up in the game it didn't matter. I would honestly recommend pants plus a long sleeved shirt and a hat. Just my opinion. The place and the different fields were awesome! Very well setup! Staff- Lots of nice attentive people. I will say our field guide (or leader or whatever his title was) was a jerk. I was trying hard to like him and accept his sarcasm but could do without his insults. He took a stab at me and one at my son and I watched him butt heads with others as well. Maybe he was having a rough day? Thankfully there were enough good people around in our large group to keep the vibe positive despite his power trip. We'll be back!

Although Im not a fan of anything gun related, my son wants to be a Texan. I promised him if he got straight A's (which I thought it was nearly impossible for a white kid to get lol) I'd take him there. He managed to bring a straight A's report card a week before his bday... The friendly staff does an orientation for safety and rules of the game. My son's friend got overwhelmed by adults with airsoft machine guns shooting at him (he's only 10 years old) right in the beginning, so without me asking for it, a manager lady in the staff gave me the credit for another time to come back. The only thing I didn't like has was that a few adults and older teens were using airsoft machine guns on the kids. If I were to suggest an improvement it would be to have those coward players separate, in another part of the field or not there at all at the same time. My son had a nice time, he was so excited I finally let him do airsoft, but he felt that he was at a disadvantage against those unfair players. And I agree with him.

We have been here 2 years in a row for our sons birthday. The referees do a great job of making sure the kids have fun. There is a great big bond fire to sit around in the cold weather. They have plenty of picnic tables to either order pizza by the local dominoes or bring your own food. We always stay our full 4 hour reserved spot and the boys NEVER get bored! We have a 12 year old son and I recommend doing low impact/low velocity paintball. It doesn't hurt as much and the boys will definitely have more fun and be less scared to play.

This place was fantastic! Absolutely recommend! We were in a huge youth group. Probably 60+ of us. The refs took care of us. The organizer did a great job managing the whole event. Got a rental for mask, gun and paint. Refs explained the rules very well and made sure everyone followed all the rules and still had a great time!

Ask the Community - Texas Paintball

Hello! Do they do Airsoft too?

Yes they do! Sundays 10-6 and Fridays 4-7

Hey At this place do they have a Airball field and what are your guns FPS are supposed to shoot at?

For Airsoft common FPS usually ranges between 300 and no higher than 400

If I have my own gear, do I still have to pay the 50 dollars?

No you just have to pay a field fee and for paint

Hi everyone! I would like to know how much is the fee for just playing in that field and can I bring my own paintballs and just pay the fee? Do they have C02?

Hey! It's a great place! And yes they have CO2 canisters that they'll lend you for free. I bring my own marker every time and they've accommodated me every time! Unfortunately it's field paint only. So you will spend a small fortune on paint but… Read more

My son and his friends have discovered that the short drive to Round Rock enables a much better and safe experience at a professionally run paintball business called "Outlaw" which is actually reasonable and cost effective. Desert Storm paintball is overpriced and a huge accident waiting to happen. Will it be you or your kid? Don't go here.

I reserved a time for 7 players thinking it would just be the 7 of us playing against each other,…read moreor against some reasonably paired up players. Upon arrival where it was quite evident you had to know someone to understand who and where to check in with. Once we checked in and had the rules explained to us, we drew our guns and paintballs. Nothing fancy and definitely not high powered, so I expected a fair game. We were divided up into 2 teams for the first round, roughly 10 people per team. That is manageable. First round went fine. Had a few speed ballers playing, but overall fair match and play. Went Round 2 in the woods and was expecting more of the same, but this time we ended up with teams of 14-16 on each side. Way too many and totally unmanageable by 1 referee. Towards the end of this match, I was hit in the back by a speedball shooter, so I got up to exit (holding my gun up and saying "I'm out"), nope to get peppered on my front by 4-6 more shots. I yell out that I'm already out, but the speed ballers keep shooting. In my anger, I popped one in the leg on my way out, and he peppered my back with between 25 and 30 rounds. Leaving welts and bruises across my entire back. When I pointed it out to the ref, he did nothing. I reported it to the manager, but got nothing really from him. I didn't ask that the guy get removed, which I probably should have done and I do understand that I shouldn't have shot the guy on my way past, but his response was totally uncalled for. And the reaction of all the staffers leads me to believe that they condone this behavior. So for those who are looking for paintball in this area, look somewhere else. I would say to read each of the negative reviews and take it at face value. I probably wouldn't have even reviewed them except for the poor behavior by the players, and I certainly wouldn't have booked with them if I'd have checked Yelp first. For the person who said this place wouldn't get another $ from him, I echo that comment and strongly discourage folks from going there if it is your first time or you are a novice at the sport.

When we got to BLORA we were the only players there so the kids could learn at their own pace. CONS: We rented the equipment that was not well maintained. The masks still had paint on the lenses. The guns either were malfunctioning or the air tanks weren't filled. All 3 bags of 500 paintballs which we each received had one or more broken balls and therefore paint on the surface of the paintballs which affected trajectory. The balls were also old and were resistant to breaking on target. One of the two workers/ referees had never played before and it was his first day on the job. I overlooked all of that, knowing my kids didn't know any better, and I guided them through a more thorough safety brief and basically refereed the 3 of us. PROs: The staff members were polite and at least one of the two were knowledgeable. It was not crowded. The multiple scenario fields were good. The paintballs didn't break in the guns. We did have a lot of fun and now my kids are hooked. It's a great place for a first timer. It's also a great place for small, private groups. VERDICT: For an uncrowded paintball field, serious Veteran players in a group will want to bring their own gear. I will continue to take my kids there until they outgrow the experience and either lose interest or are ready for a more competitive paintball experience but we'll consider getting our own gear.
