The kids were so excited to go play paintball for the first time. Rental is $43 for all day however you have will have to wait an hour in between games that last only 10mins or so. We asked for a refund when we waited an hour for the next play. We arrived at 3pm and only were able to play 2 times. They apologized for the delay but were unable to refund for the one 10 minute play. They said they had too many birthday parties to accommodate public play so we needed to wait for the next field to come available. I would say it's poor planning and poor customer service. I wouldn't suggest going for public play during the weekends when there are a lot of parties, because you won't be allowed to play. read more

Been playing at this field for years now and it's still at the top of my list! Always excited to come back and get a full day of play in.

The maps were really cool. My favorite was the Alamo where there's a defending team shooting down from an Alamo themed fort while the attackers try to make their way and touch the fortress to win. The owner Todd treated us amazing and is a laid back and super chill guy. It was my first time paint balling with some friends and I had a blasts. It's changed for the better! Came here a few years ago. Lots of fire ants, ref was on his phone so we'd eliminate the enemy team and would wonder around trying to find an enemy that wasn't there because the ref didn't call the game. I knelt into a pile of ants on accident and ref watched as I was wiping ants off and getting bonus balled. About 2-3 years ago. Now it's so different. We celebrated my son's birthday at X-factor Paintball Park this past Wednesday. They are closed to the general public during the week, and charge an extra $50 for weekday setup, but it was almost like having our own private paintball park to play in! We thought an earlier start time would be more bearable in the Texas heat, so we scheduled the earliest block possible at 10AM. The staff was so considerate, allowing us to wait for everyone in our party to show, so no one missed out on the games. XF supplied all the gear for the players (guns, face masks, protective gear, air tanks, etc.) and 4 bags of paint were included in the party package. If you need additional paint, you can purchase more for $20 (per 500 ct. bag). XF also has a paintball "gunsmith" on-site if you have your own gun and need a quick repair. My son was having problems with his air tank regulator and they were able to fix it on the spot so he was able to quickly get back in the game. XF has several paintball courses in the park. My personal favorite was the two-story "Alamo" with half the group attacking and the other half defending. The wooded courses are thick with cover and offer plenty of shade. The boys loved that they pretty much had their pick of any field and style of game play since they were the only ones there. Our party host allowed the players frequent breaks between games to hydrate. There are several picnic tables and shaded pavilions for a little relief from the sun. I highly recommend bringing a cooler with plenty of drinks because it does get very hot! The staff was super helpful and accommodating and made this birthday celebration a memorable one. X Factor is the best paintball park in Texas hands down. There's a huge variety of fields and game modes that keep it interesting especially if you're looking to turn this into a hobby. Unexpectedly for large groups of people shooting each other, everyone is so nice & it's easy to make friends. There's also a shop that has EVERYTHING you could need for paintball, including Jeff who is a cool gun wizard who can fix issues you may have with your guns on site. Jeff saves the day for everyone at the park & you only get charged for replacement parts so it's not going to burn a hole in your wallet. That part alone sets Xfactor on a tier above the rest. I also like that safety is held to the highest standard not only by refs but by other players. Countless time's I've seen other players quickly remind the new kids to keep their masks on so they won't get shot in the face. I've seen reffs handing out free popsicles to help people keep everyone cool on hot days. & I've seen lots of pro players sharing their guns and paint with the noobs, it's precious. This is the part where I would mention what xfactor can improve on but honestly they're constantly making improvements so I think they know what to do! read more

Of the 3 paintball facilities we have visited, X-factor is by far the nicest. My family loves the variety in fields that X-factor offers. There are currently 7 fields and 2 that they are planning to build in the future (according to a patron). There is plenty of seating that is covered (SWEET) bc it can feel blazing hot out). So cons...it is pricy at $40 a person for open public all day play. That includes all the equipment and 1 bag of paintballs. Now if you have equipment already (we do thankfully) it is $15 a person for all day play. There is a Groupon for X-factor that offers like 4 different packages, however according to the front desk if you elect to use it for open public play with no equipment, you only save $10 per player. This place is great; prolly my new favorite. Paintball folks tend to be mighty friendly and here is no different: the customer service is exceptional. It's also really close to home and easy to get to compared to other places around town (I live in the NE). That said, this also makes it a busy place. Expect crowds. If you're looking for smaller teams, head to Knights. They seem to be a little looser on rules here compared to other places too, which is fine. It's also slightly more expensive to rent equipment. However, that will get you more paint than other places as well as a vest if you want one. It's less expensive here if you bring your own gear. The maps are great: expansive and varied and including a two-story Alamo! And with so many people the rounds last a long time. Definitely coming back soon! read more

Great place to come with friends for the weekend or have a birthday party or company event. Paintball is great for so many ages. It's more catered to tournament styles fields but still has rec ball fields. The staff does a great job of checking to make sure when people go into the field they are adhering to the safety rules, mask on before going on the field and barrel condom on before exiting the field. I wish they had a real bathroom and they were not attended to which is a big deal to me as a woman. read more

This place is not suitable for children at all. The workers are unprofessional, the ref new that it was our first time paintballing and he did not go over the rules or explain what the game was. We came because of a groupon ad that said it was $5 per person but it was a scam. Its just $5 in entry fee then they make you pay another $5 and $28 per person. Very dangerous for young kids or begginners since rules and safety isnt explained or monitored at all. Will not be returning. read more

Even thou it was a very hot day yesterday we had sooo much fun!! The referee was on point and explained the games to us noobs!! It was very fun although i am giving it a five star and will go again since i bought another Groupon for me and my daughter. The only suggestion i would have is about the rental guns. They kept running out of air really quick even after we had just put air in them. I had to switch my daughter's gun out since it was a "dead gun". I was in my 1st match and it shot 2 paintballs and went out of air. The gauges in the air cylinder never moved passed the 2 even after a refill. The gun kept jamming and in game in particular it came crucial as i was sneaking up on someone and it jammed up and they heard it then turned to shoot me. Other than that i like the personnel they are real friendly. The ref was friendly he treated all of us the same us noobs/rentals and the customs. So that made it a plus for our experience! They have good fields with two air ball courses on turf, hyper ball on field, woods ball, and Attack&Defend w/ a two story structure. The coordination and logistics is poor. There is no PA system to announce games so you have to find open games by wondering around asking refs what's next and when. Therefore, you play fewer games. Also, there is usually only one ref per game and this means on larger courses you can't get paint checks, they don't help less experienced players in need, etc. Generally speaking, the refs are lethargic and not very concerned with conducting a good game. I complain to the owner and he seemed receptive but I haven't noticed a change. Safety is largely ignored here. I often have to remind the ref to tell rec players about their surrender rule. They have several 4500psi fill stations for self-service but they aren't clearly marked so inexperienced players with 3000psi tanks walk up and use them. Rules on the field aren't enforced. Not using field paints, using Auto or ramp, and other issues are ignored especially if the offending player seems to the know the ref or visit the park frequently. The paint varies as the owner resells paint from his sponsors that he gets for free. Right now it's GI Sportz 3-star and 2-star. A case is $55. read more

My teenage boys love this place. They have several fields and separate the serious tournament players from the regular players. They usually have a groupon, so look for that if you have a group of people going. The prices for drinks and snacks are fair, it's nice that they don't over price knowing you're going to need to get hydrated. They also allow you to bring your own drinks and food and hangout in their shaded picnic area. The owners, at least I think it was the owners, were super friendly. Best place to shoot your friends with paint. You can ask for a chest protector, but my kids like to compare welts after each round. You do have to buy the paint from them, so expect this outting to be a little pricey, but worth it. read more

The fields are so nice but everything else about the park sucks. The staff doesn't know the answer to anything. I asked if firststrikes were allowed I was passed around until I was told to go ask Jeff ( i think that was his name, he's the guy who works the shop). No one told me where to chrono, No one told me the FPS allowed for the field either so I played with what I do at my field since it's a lower FPS and I was using firststrikes as not to hurt anyone. Refs are absolutely terrible. We had just got to the field when the whistle blew. No on asked if we were ready. My team multiple times never had their markers turned on and barrel socks were still on when the whistle would blow. Refs would then sit there and look at their phone the whole time. One time one team got the whole other team out but they werent aware so they kept trying to sneak around to find the last guy until they gave up looking ( who was already out ) Ref didn't know the other team was out because he was busy with his phone. Waisted a good 3 or 4 min on that. Fire ants all over the fields. We did a game at their infamous Alamo field. The two refs started arguing about how to play the game before one realized his way would result in people getting shot point blank. I slid on that field into a fire ant pile and was wearing gloves ants got all into them. Called myself out and tried to get the ants out and then got shot nearly 20 times and the refs watched and laughed. Someone found a snake while I was there too so watch out for those . I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is even for beginners!! They were professional great at communicating and super accommodating! We tried the open play and couldn't compete with some of the guys. They took some of the newer players and did separate games. I took my younger brother and my fiancé to celebrate my brother graduating basic training for the army. I researched a lot of different courses before deciding on xfactor. The cost was much more reasonable than everywhere else. They got to play several games which was great but my major complaint is the refs suck! My boys came home with several huge welts because the rule of no point blank shots is not enforced one bit. All the teens run up to you and shoot you at an arms distance away ALL THE TIME! All we could do was forget the rule entirely and just shoot them first. The refs need to do their job and realize that rule is for the safety of the players. This is my favorite paintball park in San Antonio. The staff is very professional and there are some very good maps to play on. You can play either any type of style or field like woodsball or speedball. You can play with either public (walk-on) or private group. If you have a group of friends playing for the first time I would highly recommend playing as a private group. Disclaimer: This review is not about the park per se, but about my experience on the phone trying to arrange to get a small group of my son's friends to go. First, the staff member (god, I hope it was not the owner) just said "Hello" or something after he answered. I had to ask if this was X-factor Paintball Par, He said, "Yep." Nothing else. Second, then I tried to explain, in my own feeble way as I know nothing about paintball, what I was trying to do and what my budget was. He retorted, "Well, you are already over your budget. [read: you idiot]" with no other hint for how to help or figure out what was going on. I said, "Well how much is it a person?" "$40 dollars gets you gear, entrance, and paintballs." I asked what was the entrance fee. He said, "It is to get into the park."; again treating me, as a customer, as if I'm a dumb-ass. A this point I was exasperated at trying to pull information out of this guy and feeling like I was a moron, so I said, "Look, I'm not finding you very friendly, so I will take my business somewhere else." I don't consider myself thin-skinned but that staff member either needs to learn how to be customer friendly, do something else for the park, or find something else that doesn't require him to deal with the public. This is all very sad as this place seems the best in the area given the website and reviews here. Update: Disgruntled but not defeated I call the Proshop Paintball store 10 minutes later to ask if someone there could help me find a park that didn't have personnel issues. Couldn't have had a very different experience. Aaron confessed that they did own Paintball Predator Park which I didn't initially bother looking at given the 3/5 starts (I later went to see that low ratings were from hard core paintballers bawling about the refs and stuff and lack of AC and other lameness while the family/parent reviews were 4/5 to 5/5 which told me everything I needed to know). Anyway, Aaron told me that they were family friendly and explained everything too me and volunteered information that might be helpful. While I will be going over budget, I will be booking a party for my son, which was $40 dollars cheaper than X-factor (yeah there are less paintball...just gotta tell the boys to conserve their ammo and not go Rambo) read more

I had been trying to setup a party for my family while home for christmas and another paintball park wasn't getting back to me even though I called them with about 48 hours notice. After this disappointment, I called the guys at X-Factor the night before and they told me to come on out and we were able to have our event the very next day! Good setup, decent prices (I hate having to buy "field paint", I prefer to bring my own), and a good time. My only complaint for the day... at one point our ref, the owner's son, was more busy playing on his phone than actually reffing and calling people out... But with this one minor discrepancy put aside, I will totally bring my family back! read more

This was a great experience for my son's 13th birthday party. He and his friends had a great time and are still talking about it. The staff was excellent and very accommodating to all our needs like carting our cooler and food to the tables, showing flexibility towards the rescheduling if we wanted for the rainstorm, and playing over our time limit to use all our paintballs.
