The staging area has lots of fans to help combat the Texas heat and the timers displayed on a large monitor ensure that EVERYONE knows exactly when the next game is. Sean helped us with the rentals and made sure the equipment was organized, clean, and ready for the next person to use. Paul and John both did a good job at enforcing the rules and running fair games. We look forward to coming back when the larger part of the field is ready!!!

We did open play where we played with anyone and were taken to multiple arenas/fields then divided in two groups of 20+ people each. Every field had different game rules and geography which made the games exciting. Wear comfortable clothing and running shoes. A friend of mine got an exercise machine for under $200 dollars, which I thought was pretty good. They even moved it out to the truck (in the pouring rain no less.) One of the big things they have going for them is their firearm prices. For a retail store they have a decent selection with prices to match. Ammunition is also priced well. They don't have much for high end survival/camping/hunting gear but it is a retail department store, so for what it is, you have to love it. Well stocked and plenty of staff to assist, I would come here over Cabela's 11 times out of 10!

After finding a bike I was interested in, I was thrilled to find a button on the shelf to press for help, alas, it was broken and didn't work. I waited a good 10 minutes on line to check out. There were 2 cashiers for about 15 people (most were behind me by the time I got to one. He told me he'd have someone meet me back there. I got back there, no one! Two women were folding clothing and ignored me. Finally someone got this great guy Bryan to help me. We got my bike (which was on sale) and he cut the long line at the cashiers and checked me out. He offered to help me put it in the car too. Very helpful. The store is severely understaffed. If you can find what you want and get it up front, you're OK. But it's very difficult to get help. Review from 2018: Academy doesn't have a very good selection of tennis gear, but I guess that's based on demand. They do have great deals on decent clothing, often reduced to excellent prices. Recently I bought decent baseball caps and t-shirts for $4.99 each! Needed a couple of bikes for young grandchildren. They had a sale.
