Went back for my friend's birthday and we had an awesome time. At first it was just 2 rooms with updated new music, but now they have upgraded 4 more rooms to include new music. Hooray! We sang to Limp Bizkit, Trapt, Ke$ha, Paramore, Rihanna, Katy Perry, 50 cent (they did, not me), Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, whatever else. I wanted to sing Rihanna but my birthday buddy isn't a big fan, so I opted out. They even had Lady Gaga's Born This Way as a song option. They have a menu, too. It's a fairly limited menu with soup, appetizers, and drinks, but just the fact they had a menu is pretty cool. You can bring in outside food, too. For my friend's party the fee was around $5 per person per hour. I was there from 12 midnight till 3:40 am and only paid $18. Btw, no smoking allowed. read more

Tried out this karaoke spot for a fun family night and we all truly enjoyed! I called ahead of time to make reservations, as I was informed that they are busy on the weekends. It was $10 per person/per hour since we had a group of more than 4 people. They offer seltzers, beer, chips, cookies and noodles for purchase if you want a drink or bite while enjoying karaoke. The walls are a bit thin so there were times that we could hear our neighbors singing as well but it was not much of a distraction, especially when we were singing. I would advise to set a timer once you go into the room or else the owner will be knocking on the door and entering when times up. Had an absolute blast, sang till we couldn't sing anymore! Large book filled with Korean and American songs, sectioned out between the two. Simple system, that comes with instructions when choosing and starting the next song, have the option to hook up Bluetooth but it wasn't working, not a big deal due to the extremely large song selection they carried. The tempo of some songs and lyrics were off but if you know the song, it's not a concern and if you're a perfectionist you can always look up the lyrics for back up. Spent four easy hours here for my friends birthday, the private room got hot pretty quickly luckily there was a fan in the room that we could turn on, would still recommend dressing on the cooler side if your party is larger than 3, the dancing and singing catches up to you quickly! read more

This place is as great as you make it. They give you all the tools necessary to have a fun filled evening of karaoke. The price is reasonable at $5 per person per hour however it is a minimum of $20/hour for the room to have karaoke fun. The staff was kind and explained how the time worked. The bathrooms were pretty clean when we got there but as the evening progressed they got pretty icky. They do let you bring in your own alcohol, food and snacks into the rooms but they also offer some food and drink items to purchase as well. If your not into karaoke with no backup vocals you might not like it at first but after a while it does become a fun challenge. My only problem was that all the karaoke books in the room except for one and a half were in Korean. The small percentage did have the English titles. However the English titles were still extensive. Overall we had a super fun time. And believe it or not, once inside the room we could barely hear if at all the other rooms singing. I'm sure we will be back here again. read more

My friends and I like to go out for a night of singing and dancing!! Sooo much fun!! We typically get hyped up for this outing weeks in advance. We decided to mix it up a bit and try this location instead of our usual. Longer drive then normal but we're okay with it. Once we arrived staff greeted us and very incredibly helpful and well mannered. They provided everything we requested. Good assortment of music and plenty of great drinks. You know when you think you know all the words to that song on the radio but in the middle all you remember is the chorus....well you can just stop and start a new song....who cares of you dont remember cuz you are amongst your friends in a private room. If you want to dance there is plenty room to bist a move. Only negative thing, is the A/c was nonexistent. There was a box fan in our room. Since it was so hot, the dance moves were minimal. Please fix your a/c. I would give a 5 star rating. Positive note, you can decorate your room the way you want, bring in your own food and drinks. If you forgot you can purchase a few things there. Austin Karaoke is always fun. If you don't have fun, don't blame Austin Karaoke, that means you need new friends or a new attitude. You get your own karaoke room, just like in Korea. They have food and it's BYOB. Get some dumplings, they're AWESOME. There are also some authentic Korean beverages in the fridge up front, try some if you haven't before. Go all out! Something to note is that some rooms have more updated songs than others. If your room doesn't have Justin Bieber's Baby (just an example, not saying you should sing this song, but hey...why not?), ask for a different room with more songs and you'll be switched with no troubles. After reading some reviews, I'm pretty sure we had a room that was not yet updated. That would have made a difference. More pros than cons though. A full update/renovation wouldn't hurt. Singing makes me smile. I owe whoever the crazy Japanese guy was who invented karaoke a huge debt. Can't remember when I first did the karaoke thing. I'm sure it was in college with some friends though. It involved drinking. Since then though, I don't need a drop of alcohol to bust out a tune. Just the spinning lights and a mic is all it takes. Austin Karaoke is more of an Asian style place, cuz it has private rooms for the patrons to sing in. It's not like a huge bar where you have to stand in front of a bunch of drunks and sing. You don't have to wait for your turn either. And...you don't have to hear a bunch of drunk chicks screaming "I will Survive". Unless you brought them with you... So Austin gets 4 stars just cuz it's in Jax and it's the only place. There's a place in Honolulu called Krazy Karaoke that to me, is the mecca of sing it for yourself places. It's got a HUGE library ot songs. Just amazing. So compared to that, Austin Karaoke really is just a 2 star. But like I said, it's the only place Jax has, so I go. They really need to get more English songs and to get more recent ones. I don't think they've updated in about a year. Kinda disappointing. My my my, how did I find myself here? After a full Korean BBQ meal next door, my cohort and I decided to check this place out. He's from Atlanta and insisted these are perfectly normal and tons of fun. I hesitantly followed him in, and was pleasantly surprised. The place looks like an LA recording studio. We gave them our ID's, grabbed a couple beers, and headed back to room 8. The room had a huge booth wrapped around a large table cluttered with books full of songs. Most were foreign, but we found some English songs to belt out for the next two hours. It's really easy to lose track of time in here. There's a button on the table that you can press for assistance, or more beer. The song selection system is foreign, so it's kind of hard to navigate, but the employees will gladly show you. Total, I give it a 4/5. I have nothing to base this off of. I'm hesitant to give it 5 stars, only because on a return visit, we found out room 4 has the crappy microphones. One of the mic covers kept falling off, and on our return visit they tried to put us in there again. Luckily, my friend had the perseverance to call the guy out. This garnered a sheepish smile out of him and he quickly moved us to a different room. If you go, keep in mind that parties of ten can bring in there own alcohol. They are open till 4 AM Friday and Saturday, but won't allow you to drink past 2 AM. read more

Hooray for Austin!!! I think it's the only Asian-style karaoke joint in town. So what's the difference between Asian and Western karaoke. The former is a bunch of private rooms where you can sing to your heart's content in front of your friends and not embarrass yourself in front of strangers. The latter is something I would never have the guts to do and would never want to put someone through listening to me sing. They have all sorts of room sizes but only 2 large rooms so if you're coming in with a big party, make reservations. There's beer and Korean plum wine (this thing is delish but will F you up... You've been warned)! And their hourly price (which varies depending on room size, I believe) is very reasonable. All in all a great place. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is because they don't carry a lot of songs that I usually do for karaoke (being from Los Angeles, we went to K-town a lot for this). But their book of songs is still quite extensive and they have a secondary list of newer songs. Don't know how to work the remote? There's a guide on the front page of the song book. We've come here for my friends birthday the past few years in a row. This place is a riot! You get your own karaoke room with the sound system and they leave you alone to go nuts in private, thereby only punishing your loved ones. Seriously a beautiful system. I've heard that this set up is very popular in Asia and from talking to the owners [at the cash register, its a mom and pop] they only moved to the States relatively recently. In fact, there's something exotic about the place, the colors they chose to use [lots of purples and blacks], the layout of the rooms, and the language on the karaoke machines--its all little different, but so much fun. Its also not the cleanest place in the world, but no big deal. Also worth mentioning is that Austin is bring-your-own-whatever. They are totally fine with coolers of drinks, cake, snacks, whatever [well, exercise a little judgement obviously]. This makes it even more affordable and its so easy to tailor a party to exactly how you want it to be. Don't miss out, this place is a total blast and a situation where even the most timid of us can let loose. Just dial up some tunes and rock the night away [and no one but your friends have to know if you want to sing "Total Eclipse of the Heart"]!!! read more

This place is conveniently located next to a Korea Restaurant! There was not a wait, and all the rooms were private. The rooms were roomy, but they didn't look the cleanest. The thin doors were there just to make you feel better, but let's be honest...I heard everything super clearly even from the restroom LOL. They had a pretty good selection of songs, from Motown to Classic Rock to the 80s to 90s to modern times. They provided 2 mics. The price was fair, BUT they started the time when they took our ids, which was a little unfair since we bought drinks before going into the room. We were charged 30 mins extra for going a few mins over because we were going based on the time we actually entered the room. All in all, it was still a fun night. We would definitely go back. I love this place! I have been here a couple times over the years and always have a blast! They no longer let you bring food and drinks in with you, but they have a great special for a bucket of beer and I think it was 20 for a bottle of house wine, or 5 bucks a glass. They also serve their own food there, which is great for snacking. The main event here is the private room karaoke experience. You can dim the lights, hand your best friend a mic, and sing to your hearts content in a room all your own. Celebrated my sister's birthday here. Great karoke selection! They only serve beer and wine, and you also have the option of bringing your own. Because you pay when you leave, you have to leave your ID at the front desk. They also serve food. The shrimp are small but the wing portions are satisfying. How have I not found out about this place sooner??? I love karaoke, I love BYOB, so this place hit the spot. It is definitely off of the beaten path, but don't judge this book by its cover! The inside is pretty nice compared to its sketchy exterior. There are about 9 rooms that can be reserved for your own private karaoke sesh. AND you can bring your own beer, food, whatever into the place. Our room had a booth wrapped around a table, plenty of room for the 12 of us. It took us about 10 minutes to figure out how to work the karaoke machine, it was in Korean after all. After we figured the remote out, we got the party started! There was nice assortment of pop/classic/rock songs (again, once you found the english options) and 4 TVs that displayed the song lyrics....and weird asian music videos. Ah karaoke. I'm more of a croaker than a crooner, better at cutting a rug than cutting a record. It's not that I don't enjoy belting out a tune or two but the listener usually doesn't enjoy it as much as I do. At Austin, you're surrounded by friends in a private room. There's no judgement here, especially when you and your buds have turned your room into a bar where the drinks are free and the criticism is nonexistent. There are several microphones for a duet or group thing but what usually happens is that everyone just sings along from their seats. Pick a song that inspires people to move their moneymaker and voila, there's a dance floor. There's a huge book of songs to choose from and the accompanying "video" is typical Asian in that often it seems it's a random video of nature or beautiful people involved in 4 minute visual drama but who cares? Let's sing. Let's dance. Let's drink. Let's eat. If you have too much fun, you will pay dearly for it. Literally. It can get pricey (think 4 hours times the hourly fee then double it if you're a couple). Let's not even think about the morning after a night of open bar.... To solve this, go with people who don't karaoke and you'll not be there long. But go with people who love to sing and party? Then be prepared to pay for the incredibly fun evening you'll have. read more

They do have up to date music, and a lot of music varieties to choose from.. Korean/Indonesian/Chinese/English/etc.. Only downside about the place is that everything was in Korean! If you are looking for a hip and modern Karaoke spot, this is not a good option. However, if you are with a group of friends and are okay with a casual atmosphere, this is a great place! If you're looking for something fun to do with a group, love to sing, or just scared of karaoke bars and need something a bit more private, this is the place for you. Basically you get your own private room for you and your friends to sing karaoke. One suggestion I would make is that if you have never been, make sure to get someone to show you how to do a manual search in the karaoke system by artist and song, their song books are good, but do not have all of their songs listed. All in all I feel like perhaps there could be a slightly easier way of finding songs you're looking for and the lyrics are not always correct, but these are just minor critiques. I'm ashamed to admit that I've lived in Jacksonville off and on for the past 5 years of my adult life and I've just now discovered this little golden nugget of awesome. Some might say a place that takes your ID at the door, has probably 10 private rooms (with no cameras, as confirmed by my friends one evening), and allows you to bring in virtually whatever sustainence and imbibery you please is a bit...sketchy? To those people I say...If by "sketchy" you mean awesome, then absolutely! The deal is this: $5/hr per person to be paid at the end of your visit. Books and books of karaoke options (color-coded by language. pretty sure blue is English). Multi-colored lights. A giant u-shaped booth with a huge table in the middle in every room. An incredibly friendly staff. My friends, if you're looking for a change of pace, you MUST give this fine establishment a try. I imagine this is a great idea for bachelor/bachelorette parties (beginning OR end of the evening would be perfect) or birthdays. Just a suggestion. read more
