This place, like Volstead, is great and shows off the Mixology in downtown during this awesome era. The art is risqué and the drinks are strong. We will definitely be back. We visited dos gatos around 10pm on a Friday night. There was a large group of us, and they carded each of us at the door. The service at this place was super fast, and the staff was friendly. The music inside was a bit of a trip too, they had a bunch of mid-2000s playing as we walked in which felt right up my alley. My friend basically said, "tell them whatever you want, even the most obscure drinks not on the menu, and they'll make it, and it'll be amazing", and honestly they lived up to that review 100%. For our big group, they made a lemon drop martini, 3 varieties of mojitos, a sazerac, a Negroni, a bees knees, a corpse reviver, a ramos, and a whiskey sour (along with some other generic drinks). They knocked every single drink out of the park, and I was so impressed by the versatility of these bartenders and how detail oriented they were. It's a pretty decent place. I imagine that it probably gets busy or more rowdy than when I was here, but it was still pretty loud. They had a DJ doing some stuff and lots of people coming in and out. Needed to kill an hour before a show, and as an amante de los gatos, the name sold this place before I ever stepped foot inside. The atmosphere was dim but warm, and I found a high top across from the bar to socialize and watch football on the TV. I selected the Puddle Jumper because I like rum, and the description states, "a lot of rum is never too much." It indeed had a lot of rum and was very enjoyable. The place was not too loud to have a decent conversation, and it is large enough to find a seat for any type of group. There were people of all ages enjoying each other, enjoying the football, and just enjoying life. I wish I had a place like this closer to where I live, but next time I am in Jacksonville, I'm going to be sure to make a return visit to enjoy more of this fun establishment and the beverages they offer! read more

I can only imagine how kicking Dos Gatos is in all its glory. We were there on our bourbon passport run, Angel's Envy- toast the trees for the specialty drink offered and while the smell put us off, the taste won us over! And while we were drinking the bartender was stocking fresh mint and the smell hit us~ oh, how delightful! I love mint and just seeing all the fresh ingredients the have on hand for drinks made me appreciate them more. Haven't been inside yet, everytime I have come here with my girlfriend they have a different answer at the door about ID's. Today we presented a valid out of country driver license and they won't let us enter because they are "only trained" to check US drivers licenses... we are 40 years old and I have money to spend! Cute place. Went with some friends. We got there early and sat at a table. We were there for a good 15 minutes and the bar was hopping. I know they saw us but didn't say anything to us. We finally figured we had to go to the bar to get service. When we got there the bartender told us their cocktail waitress doesn't get there until 9pm. Ok.. well you could have mentioned that to us when we walked in and sat. So we ordered our drinks and they were delicious. It's pretty dark and chill in the bar, cool scene. Ordered 2 more drinks and as each drink came you could tell the same amount of liquor was not like the first one. When ten female bartender took our 3rd and final drink order she kinda looked like she was over making the same drinks for us.... Kind of weird body language. But whatever.
