Worse salon around. Overpriced Garbage with stylists who shouldn't be doing hair at all. I went in and asked for a root touch up , brightening up my highlights and a asymmetrical cut that I had a picture of. Easy for a stylist who knows how to cut hair. The level 2 stylist essence said she could do it and so said the staff also. I still have roots that weren't covered,my ear was cut because she buzzed it and the blonde is exactly the same. She was messing up my hair and someone else had to finish it who actually still messed it up. I stressed I was going away I stressed I had a wedding to attend and still here I am with the same color hair and same exact blonde. And the cut is still not right. All the money they charged for a crap hair color and cut. They should all be embarrassed to even do hair. 2 years of cutting hair and she still can't get it means she shouldn't be doing hair. Been back and forth but I finally decided to do this. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 to acknowledge the hairdressers I've had before. I don't even live in N.J. anymore but I used to wait to get my hair done when I came back to visit. Unfortunately they've now lost my business; my last haircut was so bad I had to write a review. I got this cut MONTHS ago and my hair is still so uneven that people are regularly pointing it out. I also asked for an inch and a half off and ended up with a bob. I could tell that my person was inexperienced and even though I know nothing about hairdressing it was easy to see they kept going shorter because they were messing up. Hate to do this but y'all need to do a better job of making sure your less experienced workers are at least competent! read more

Needed a salon to do Mini-Me's hair and make up for her 8th grade graduation dance. Paid twice- first visit-was to to try out different make-up looks and hair styles and the 2nd time the day of the actual event. Although we did have an appointment and made it early enough and with enough time for her to have plenty of time to get her home and ready without stressing the time, they had lots of proms girls in the same time and the appointment took longer because it wasn't the same stylist we had originally seen. Mini-Me was stressed she was going to be rushing. She has long hair and had a beautiful Grecian up-do, I was very specific that we did not want the hair at the base of her neck shaved. I stepped away to make a call, I came back and -- and it was shaved. She was upset later that night when she took her hair down, she had lots of long strands of hair that came out, that were no longer connected to her scalp. I was kinda pissed, but its hair and will grow back. As for the up-do and make up- despite that small hiccup- they did an amazing job and she looked stunning, I think the prices are a bit high on some items but I felt that what I did pay matched what we received. read more

went to salon for a single process with a full highlights & provided the stylist with the actual color formula which she completely ignored & darkened my hair, covering my highlights. Afterwards, I pointed out a section of my hair she missed with the color, now having to return for a fix. Very disappointing. This was one of the best blowouts (and salon experiences) I've had in years. My hairdresser, Jess, did a great job with my 2c-3b curly hair. She was really talented with smoothing out my normal frizz into a gorgeous blowout, and styled it just how I wanted it. A lot of other salons I have been to have had trouble with my hair, but it looked smooth and sleek, like it had been flat ironed. I really appreciated how Jess walked me through each product she was using, and I felt like she chose perfect ones for my hair type. The salon itself also focuses on those special spa touches - I was greeted with a cup of tea, goodie bag, and tour of the salon, and everything felt beyond luxury. They even used hot towels when washing my hair! My one complaint about the salon is that although not outrageous, it is a little pricey. $50 for a quick split-ends trim does seem like a little much, however, for a once in a while blowout, it indefinitely worth it. All in all, if you are looking for a spa experience or a great blowout for curly hair, this is the salon (and I definitely recommend Jess). read more

Natalie cut my hair its the worst haircut I have ever received. I made the appointment and called twice to make sure I wasn't down for a Deva cut because this is a Deva salon, I just wanted a layer cut in the middle of my hair because I started to get a bell shape. I had long layers with spiral curls. The person at the front desk said I was down for a Deva cut when I arrived, I had to say I just wanted a layer cut in I was also told on the phone before I arrived I was put down for a consultation. At this point Natalie became quite annoyed that I wanted a consultation. I I told her what I wanted and she had convinced me to get a Deva cut which by the way cost $96. She proceeded to cut short choppy layers straight across into my hair and cut all my curls off. The bulk of my hair ends at the middle of my head. The pictures attached show where the bulk of my hair ends and where she left long stragley pieces down to the top of my shoulders. No it's not a shadow in the picture it was basically a mullet. I also said my hair was fine during the consultation so put only a third of the product usually put in someone's hair which did not happen, I looked like Medusa when I left the salon my hair was so greasy. I called the salon when I got home to tell him how unhappy I was and sent them a picture of my hair their response was to give me a credit in the salon for the $96 I had paid and not a full refund. Why would I walk into this salon to get a credit for anything? What a horrible experience. I had to get another cut to fix the mess that cost $75 and had to get over 4 inches cut off to even my hair out in the back and another inch in the front. read more

I've been to this salon once and will not be returning ever again!! Overall a bad experience from the second I walked in until I left. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The salon is ran by extremely rude teanagers . I walked up to the front desk and was greated with "what do you need" . When she found out I was a walk in she rolled her eyes and mumbled to take a seat as opposed to offering me a drink while I wait. Once I sat with the stylist (after she finally got someone to wash my hair) as I could hear her arguing she spent about twice the amount of time performing the service I requested than my normal stylist... that being said once the cut was done it looked nothing like what I asked for as I even brought a photo! I was in Tuesday for a hair color job and even after almost 5 hours, three stylists, and over $200, I'm not happy with what happened or with my hair at all, and I've been refused a refund. Last week was my first visit to the salon, brought in by a Groupon for a haircut. Nicolette was great for my cut, so afterwards, I requested another appointment for a red to blonde ombre. Said she was looking forward to doing it. When I returned, before we started she informed me of the price - $209, because of all of the work required - while expensive and a bit more than I had anticipated, I accepted. She then consulted with at least four other stylists, but I never once suspected how badly my hair would turn out. I brought in a specific photo of what I wanted, and after 3 hours, what I got wasn't even remotely close. I have photos from the entire process. When I finally saw my hair in the mirror, it sent me into a panic attack. I had a strangely toned greenish brown blonde 3/4 of the way up my head, and the red was only on my four inch grown out roots. When Nicolette asked me if I liked it, I said "this is completely wrong," and she replied "well it's not dry yet." After she realized she messed up, she brought over two senior stylists. They said they would pull the red down, and reglaze the ends. Not one of the three stylists apologized for the unsatisfactory color. In the end, it was 5 hours later, and while I was grateful they stayed 2 hours past closing to attempt to fix it, I still did not have what I came in for. When asked again if I liked it, I could only respond "at least it's better than before." The female senior stylist told me I could call if I didn't like how it looked in the daylight. I was brought up to the front desk to pay, where all three stylists, and two others stood waiting for me. I was still charged the full $209, despite the fact that after two attempts I was still unhappy. Still, no one said sorry. I felt intimidated, so I signed and left. After taking the stylists advice the next day and still unhappy I called the salon, hoping to speak to a manager and ask for a refund. The receptionist, when I informed her of the nature of my call, was the first person to apologize to me for what happened. She also said it wouldn't be a problem. When I received a callback from a manager, she also apologized and said Aurelio prides itself on customer satisfaction. When I told her everything, she informed me that what I had asked for "was complex, and should have been done by a second element stylist from the start, not a first like Nicolette." If this is true, why did no one tell me that when I made the appointment, or before she started? Continually this manager told me it was "not the salon's way" to issue refunds, but rather asked that I "give them a second chance to redeem themselves" eventually even offering to fix my hair herself. I had already given them a second chance! She also said that when she reviewed my forms I had come in for a red to blonde ombre, and "isn't that what I left with?" If customer satisfaction is your priority, then the fact that I left with some type of red and blonde in my hair is irrelevant. What I left with does not look like an expensive salon job, and for as much as I paid, I should LOVE my hair. I left with zero trust in Aurelio, and after everything I went through I want nothing more than a refund to be able to go to a salon that can give me what I ask for, not what they deem is good enough. I've been made to feel like I was in the wrong, that I chose the wrong stylist (how was I to know?), that I should be happy with what I got (don't I get to decide that?). I've barely even wanted to look at myself in a mirror. I've never been disappointed with an experience at a salon in my life, and I can't believe after this I'm being expected, essentially forced, to return another time, or just accept that I threw away over $200. I couldn't even imagine walking into Aurelio ever again. read more

I had a great initial experience here, trying a new stylist and salon can always be a little harrowing. I walked out thinking I had indeed found a "new home"; happy and prepared to become a loyal, frequent customer, as well as share positive reviews to anyone who would listen. Word-of-Mouth business is crucial, so, as a business owner myself, I am dedicated to encouraging people to patronize local small businesses. A day later, I had one simple question that I was interested in asking my stylist, after which I would most likely be booking another appointment as soon as I could. Long story short, I emailed the salon, and was advised to make an appointment for another consultation (which I had just done prior to this service). My question was simple and truly did not pose a need for another consultation......... At the time of this writing, after the initial emails, I have currently called the salon a total of four times simply to ask my question, been assured by various employees that my contact information would be given to my stylist, and I would definitely receive a return phone call as soon as possible. I have heard or received no return communication of any kind. I am so disappointed and frustrated by all this. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this establishment. It is my feeling that their customer service policies and follow-through to ensure customer satisfaction leave much to be desired. read more

I have gone to Aurelio a few times and from the wash to the blow out the service is amazing and I always love my hair. The first time I went in was because I had a bad cut and coloring from another salon, they fixed everything! I would never go anywhere else. This place is over priced and doesn't care about keeping future costumers clearly. The girl who did my hair was very sweet and did do a good job on my hair. But since my hair use to be blonde and I went brown it faded extremely fast and I spent over $140 for my hair to be BROWN not RED in 3 washes. I was horrified. I called and asked if they could possibly fix it I just wanted it to be brown they said they would call me back and never did. I called again and they said they would call me back AGAIN..and never did. So I decided to not give them anymore of my business and called to cancel when I said I didn't not plan on coming back because I was not happy with my hair and never got a call back she said "okay have a nice day!" and that was all! Poor costumer service for the price. I do not ever go out of my way to rate things, but if a business cannot even give simple advice on how to help a costumer they will not receive my business. Could not wait to come to this salon with my daughter and holy to report they did not disappoint . Have a hectic work schedule as we own our own business. We both had haircut appointments with Kim. We had a tour of the salon and it is extremely clean , the setup is fabulous and what a completely relaxing time . After our tour we ended in waiting area with our choice of hot or cold beverages and biscotti . Happy bright atmosphere and all the girls are happy and all beautiful. Jessica took me back to a quiet very zen shampoo room . I say in a reclining chair get up and the shampoo sink adjusted to me not me to the sink. Total comfort. I thought that was awesome . Then Jessica does the most wonderful scalp message while washing my hair . I was in relaxation heaven . The products smell wonderful and leave your hair feeling so clean and silky. Then a conditioner more massage it was wonderful. Before this Kim had a consultation with me and listened to everything I said the whole time combing my hair and then she told Jessica exactly what to use on my hair for shampoo and conditioner . I am so impressed with the service and attention at this salon. My daughter felt the same way. The prices are very reasonable for the service they provide . I have difficult hair and my daughter to we left feeling beautiful and are coming back for hair color next week. If I could give a zero I would! Let's just start off by saying that it's UNHEARD OF to call someone back to CANCEL an appointment because you "haven't been able to give the results wanted in the past!" From firsthand experience and from reading some of the other reviews it seems as though maybe in the color department some have no idea what they are doing! If this is so then don't blame that on the client. Just admit that your color game is not so tight and train your staff better. When speaking to the "senior stylist" she said I was not welcome there anymore because "she was not happy and negative and voicing my negativity to the salon!" This is MUCH of an exaggeration! If asked "how do I like my hair?" If I don't care for it I should be able to say just that! Why should I be forced to say "I LOVE IT!" when I don't? If they felt I was unhappy then someone should have offered to help remedy the problem the next time! That's what I've learned as a previous stylist myself! It's hard to please everyone when it comes to hair but that doesn't mean the people that aren't happy should be pushed away. That means you should try harder to make them happy! Now if the person was a threat to the salon or made a big scene then that's a different story...and even so why would you bother scheduling that person again? The receptionist and all employees should have then been notified that that person was not welcome! Don't allow them to make an appointment then call them back later to tell them they are no longer welcome! A lot of screws are loose here. Something's not right! I suggest if you're looking for a salon you read ALL of the reviews on google AND Yelp and not just the FIVE STARS! I went there for the first time & I got a haircut by Tim. I went from long hair to a LOB. He did a fantastic job and had a great personality and understood my needs. The other staff was all very nice & professional. I like the fact that they gave me a tour just made everything more comfortable and inviting. This is the best haircut I received by far and I've been getting so many compliments. Definitely will be back and will be my new place and definitely recommend this salon. Especially Tim. I belong to another salon and I pay a very reasonably price on a monthly service. That being said, this salon is closer to my home and I love this salon. They give the most amazing head massages when they wash your hair - the best I have ever had and I have gone to some top end salons. It is extremely clean and you get clean sterilized wrapped brushes every single time you go in for a service. I have always been happy with the blow outs. Even the level one and rising stars do great jobs and my hair is thick, long and course - not easy to blow out. I have not had a haircut here because I have a membership at my other salon. My daughters have and they have been very happy with them. When my adult daughters come in from out of town they always make provisions to take them. My daughters also love this salon. They are always polite and if they had a membership like the one I currently belong to, I would sign up in a minute. read more

I am extremely upset with my recent services and I've reached out to both the Toms River and Howell locations. About 2 months ago I booked an appointment for full highlights. I had a previous appointment for a GK treatment and loved the scalp massage and friendliness and was pleased and eager to return. After 6 hours my hair was blonde with highlights as requested but the top of my head was ORANGE! She said it was the toner and that it would wash out. Needless to say that did not happen and I returned within the week. I was not charged the 2nd time. Although there was some improvement I left very upset and actually cried. I tipped generously both times since she spent so much time with me. I followed up with a manager that suggested I go to the Howell location. She took photos of my hair and another 4 hours later I left feeling even worse. In her attempt to correct the orange tones she made my hair considerably darker and it was extremely brassy. I was actually embarrassed and as a school teacher I take pride in my appearance. I suffered terribly for over 2 weeks covering it up with headbands. I then returned for 2 additional visits again no cost because I had bad breakage. I received the deep conditioning treatment. Although I was refunded my originally cost for my highlights, I now had a total of 5 visits, spent over 20 hours at the salons, drove 50 minutes each way, it was inconvenient and costly! I tipped out $125 at this point. Plus I felt obligated to tip the assistants. Two weeks later I had an appointment with A senior stylist. She wanted to charge me over $300 to correct my hair. After a thorough conversation explaining that I should not have to pay to get my hair back to the way it looked before I ever came to this salon. How is it my responsibility???? I paid about the same as I refund in my tipping. Keep in mind, I didn't request those treatments. They were needed to correct the mistake made by a stylist at your salon. I was inconvenienced repeatedly and wasted both time and money. Then I'm put with a level 5 stylist again not at my request. I understand why, I needed someone with knowledge and experience but clearly at my expense. I left after another 6 hours and was charged $233.60. We negotiated a 20% discount since my original appointment was during the week of your special. Then I tipped an additional $45. So, of took almost 2 months, over 20 hours, 6 visits, and I spent over $400 to get my hair highlighted. Absolutely unacceptable. read more
