Considering some salons want to charge $45 for the same service - I only have been using The Concept Salon since I moved back to New Jersey! I also love the salon's easy online booking system; you can see all available appointments and book whenever you need. The salon is very modern and clean. The receptionists always offer you water or coffee even when they are busy - which in my opinion never goes unnoticed. The stylists all take their time and care about what type of blowout you want- I personally prefer Desiree. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the salon does not allow you to book your blowout with the stylist you want; they give you whoever is available which in my opinion is time consuming. If you have a hair stylist you prefer and want to go to regularly is it beneficial for both parties. The hair stylist will eventually know how the customer likes their blowout, so customers do not have to waste time in the beginning explaining or showing the stylist photos. With that said, I desperately needed a haircut, single process & highlights for a graduation party. The only day available was a Sunday & unfortunately, the stylist that had previously done my hair didn't work on Sundays so, I had no choice but to book a new stylist and this turned out to be a huge mistake! My (new) stylist was nice but over booked & ultimately my hair was burnt off. It was obvious to me that while she was putting my highlight foils in that she was working with several clients at the same time which lead to her requesting that I sit at the sink so she could have her assistant (who also washes hair) apply a "quick processing" single-color on my grey-roots...followed by a glaze application (again, while the stylist attended to her other clients). When the stylist told me that her assistant would be applying both my root color & glaze...I said, "I would wait for her if she needed to tend to her other clients first" and I was dismissed and told to go to the sink. I think if you are paying upwards of $500 for an appointment it should be the trained stylist & not the assistant applying the color. My scalp felt hot & I had questioned the procedure to the young girl several times as I was clearly uncomfortable about the whole situation because my hair had never been done this way before at Avanti. After the assistant removed the foils & was washing my hair I had asked her "if I had a lot of fallout" and she told me, "no not much" which I later learned was not true. Obviously some fall out is expected with bleach but this appointment took off a shocking amount from my crown and sides of my head!! The whole experience was not up to the Avanti standard. I got there at 11:30am & left at 4:30pm with an okay haircut, bad blow out, less hair on my head (which is the most traumatic part!!) and a messy highlight job. The highlights are chunky in some spots, the glaze seems to have taken to "most" of the highlights and definetly not in other noticeable places. The front is lighter then the back. It's very blonde in the areas where clearly the hair is now missing...the bad blowout was so quick (again because I felt that the stylist was rushing to get to her other clients) and my hair can fluff-up/appear frizzy if not fully dried throughly that I didn't understand how burnt my hair actually was and how much hair loss there was until after I got home. I regret not waiting until the colorist that had done my hair previously was available...no clue if the amount that is now missing off my crown & sides will grow back in & how long that would take if it actually does?! The appointment was $500 and with tip I paid out $625 cash which is just sickening to me given how I look. I NEVER write REVIEWS but this was just too upsetting not to share.

Last Saturday, I went to the salon for a blunt bob haircut (see attached the inspo picture). While the stylist technically cut my hair into a bob, it was not the haircut I asked for. She removed a significant amount of my hair by heavily thinning it out without ever informing me, asking for my consent, or discussing it with me. That was never something I requested, and it completely changed the look and feel of my hair. It's also worth mentioning that I've been getting this exact haircut for the past eight years, and I have never had a single issue. This isn't my first bob, and I know exactly how it's supposed to look and feel. Never before has a stylist excessively thinned out my hair without discussing it with me or asking for my permission. I left the salon thinking something felt off, and once I got home, I realized just how different my haircut was from what I had asked for. I felt devastated, frustrated, and completely blindsided. I take great care of my hair, and seeing it so over-thinned was heartbreaking. I honestly cried for two days because of it. I called the salon, the staff followed up with me after I reached out, and I appreciated their communication. However, I was told that the owner would be the one addressing the situation. Unfortunately, my conversation with the owner made an already upsetting experience even worse. Throughout the call, I felt completely dismissed and gaslit. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no acknowledgment of how I was feeling. Instead, I felt like he controlled the entire conversation and repeatedly invalidated my concerns. When I told him I had been crying for two days because of my haircut, his response was essentially, "Really? You're crying over this?" That comment made me feel embarrassed and foolish for expressing how much this affected me. Also expressed that he does not want me as a client. As a salon owner, you should understand that while it may be "just hair" to you, it is MY hair. You don't know how much time, effort, and care I've invested over the years to keep it healthy. Having that changed without my knowledge or permission was incredibly upsetting. Rather than listening, the owner insisted that I got the haircut I asked for and said he didn't think it was a bad haircut. That completely misses the point. My issue is not whether he personally likes the haircut... it's that my hair was altered in a way I never agreed to. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. A mistake can happen, but the way a business responds afterward says everything. I left feeling unheard, invalidated, and blamed for my own reaction. I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience.
