I went to Alison after a decade of box-dyes because I wanted ombre/balayage highlights. I showed her a few pics of ridiculously platinum blond highlights and she straight up told me: 1) I have 5 different colors of box-dye that she needs to remove first 2) She will not bleach my black/brown thick pin-straight Asian hair to be THAT blond in 1 sitting because my hair will fall off That honesty is EVERYTHING! Many of my gfs went to other salons with the same (outrageous) request, the hairstylists complied, and those women now have dry brittle hay straws on their heads. But not me - after 6 years and gallons of bleach - my hair is still thick, shiny and healthy, all thanks to Alison truly TAKING CARE of my hair. Alison listens and remembers my preferences; I hardly ever give her direction other than "more/less blond", "cooler/warmer" and "longer/shorter". She knows how to cut Asian hair!!!! . She also cuts my man's long curly hair and taught him the benefits of "layers". Most importantly, she taught me that toner is my friend, otherwise I'll look like a traffic cone. Again with that honesty. I was super excited to be Alison's first client on opening day. I took the Seastreak Ferry to Highlands, NJ (40 mins) and then a Lyft to Red Bank (20 mins). WOW, Alison's new Fox & Jane in Red Bank is GORGEOUS. Unlike the typical loud cramped salons of NYC, this salon is so spacious, and the décor is chic and relaxing.
