We are HUGE fans of Augustine Roofing! They replaced our roof back in June, 2013 for an extremely reasonable price (less than $8K for SFH). They are consummate professionals: very knowledgable about all things having to do with the roof (they aren't storm chasers that are bilking you & your insurance company out of $20K+ for a "replacement"), customer-service minded, and extremely responsive with a "we'll be right there" attitude. Following our roof replacement, after crazy hard rain, I've had them out to look at two small places we thought were related. Again, they respond and arrive PRONTO! No charge. In March, soon after we had the deluge of rain that dumped several inches of rain in the area within a day, I noticed a water stain in our kitchen ceiling, under the slight overhang on our deck. It was an area that I had called them about three years ago. I called them again and had an appointment the next day! Paco came out and after inspecting the overhang, went up to the next level and looked at our window the next floor up. Upon inspection, he patiently & clearly explained to me, with his phone pictures, that there was a gap between the J-Channel and our window, and with driving rain, was getting IN that gap and traveling down through the wall and dripping onto the kitchen ceiling. In fact, given the location of that stain, the window was a likely culprit to the last time it stained and they came out three years ago! Back to Paco, he applied caulking around the window; pulled up the sealant on all the nails on the overhang and resealed them; AND went on top of the roof and did an inspection. I offered to pay for his time, especially since caulking my window isn't a roof repair, but he insisted that wasn't a problem. I also appreciated that he called the office and let them know what he was going to do. This wasn't a personal favor - this was an Augustine Roofing favor!! ALL FOR FREE!!! FREE!! Who does that? My neighbors used Augustine Roofing to replace their roof two years ago and they're still delighted with it! I'll never forget back in Spring 2013, when Owner, Bill Augustine, came out and gave us our estimate and it wasn't the $20K our new neighbors all assured us it would cost to replace our roof. When I questioned him about it, he told me flat out - it just doesn't cost $20K to replace a roof (presumably barring major structural issues). He explained that often a company - or a storm chaser - gets in a neighborhood and does a roof. Because people don't have time to research + they have big bank accounts, they just go with the company their neighbor used and so it goes. I'm glad we didn't do that. They're an A+ Accredited Business with BBB and it shows! I wish they offered more services. We would use them! I wish it wasn't so hard to find Contractors in this area that charged a fair and honest price for their services (see my review on the STELLAR "Dr. Watts" Master Electrician). Work Done on May 14, 2016 - Augustine Roofing was very professional from start to Finish. They showed up when they said they would. I got 4 estimates to replace the roof and gutter. Their estimate was not the most or least expensive of the four quotes provided. They were very thorough in measuring and pointing out prospective problems. They did not push to have extra add-ons. Everything they had in the quote was done. I was pleasantly surprised with all the rain that we were having, I expected my date would move. The did not move the date, they arrived sharply at 8am and finished putting in the last nail just as the rain was coming. Ben kept me informed all along the way, I did not have to stay and hear the work being done on the roof. My daughter had a softball game and could not stick around. They called me and let me know of the issues they found when they took up the two layers of shingles. I authorized the work and they showed me the plywood that they had to replace. The only issue I had with the installation was when the people installing the gutters came a day early because of rain being forecasted the next day. They arrived at 5 pm and were done before I got back. The installation looks great and they even painted my exhaust fans and pipes the same color of the shingles. After all the work was done the billing was detailed and no surprises, it matched the quote provided. Overall they did a great job, I was referred to them by a friend because of their professionalism and responsiveness. The did not lessen that reference one bit. Other than the issue above which really was in my favor anyway, was at lunch time, the workers spread out under the trees, unfortunately some were in a neighbors yard. SPECTACULAR, 5-STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Bobby Mason and Augustine Roofing to anyone looking for a roofing company!! I needed to fully replace my roof and obtained estimates from several companies. Having never previously replaced a roof, I wanted to make an informed decision. Therefore, I had a lot of questions. Bobby took his time to fully explain the process, answer all my questions and never once spoke down to me in a condescending manner (which I cannot say about the other companies). Bobby was always professional, polite, thorough and went the extra mile to make sure I was a fully satisfied customer. In one particular instance, I called and left a message to discuss color selection. It was after business hours and the matter wasn't urgent, but Bobby stepped away from dinner out with his family, to return my call. Going into this project two of my biggest concerns were the potential damage to my lawn and whether the job would be properly done since I wouldn't be able to see what they would be doing. Leading up to this, I witnessed several roof replacements on homes in our area and I did NOT like what I had seen. Most, drove large trucks onto the front lawn to discard the removed shingles into and left behind large tire marks in the yard. Others, didn't even remove and replace the underlayment. Bobby listened carefully to my concerns and thoughtfully addressed them; even offering to text photos while the work was done (which I didn't feel the need to have him do). All in all, this was hands down, one of the best experiences I have had in contracting work. I even asked Bobby to leave a yard sign behind, so I could advertise their work. Thrilled with the service from Augustine Roofing! We'd had them replace a portion of our roof after a storm a few years ago and contacted them for an estimate after another storm blew off some shingles. I admittedly had an old email address and that caused a delay in response, so feel free to call...Ashley in the office is incredibly responsive and helpful! Maurice provided our estimate, and was wonderful. Personable, polite and took the time to both what he was going to do, and show us the severity of the damage via pictures. He sent the pictures and contract within 24 hours and was eager to help us get our home insurance to cover the replacement. Once we'd committed to the replacement, he even swung by after hours to patch a hole he'd discovered to lessen water damage until the replacement could be scheduled. Definitely above and beyond from a service standpoint!! The crew showed up right at the promised time and were incredibly efficient, completing the entire town house roof and cleaning up within 4-5 hours. Was delightfully surprised to receive a call from Joaquin the next day letting me know he was heading by to check the work and ensure there were no nails left behind. Another personable, polite employee who took the time to ensure I was aware of what he was doing and that we were satisfied. Compared to our experience a year or so ago, my sense is that the company has expanded, resulting in better communication and quality service. Thus, I'd pay more attention to recent reviews. Just recently had my roof done by Augustine. I chose them for three reasons. 1) Neighbor had their roof replaced by them and spoke very highly of their work and post replacement service. 2) Pricing was extremely fair and reasonable, not the lowest, but well below some of the other ridiculous quotes I received and 3) Very low pressure sales tactics which is a real plus. The outfits that come in with high pressure sales people, and a "must make the deal now to get the special pricing" are a huge turn-off. Turn them down just on principle. Our rep was John and he was great. He was easy to work with, knowledgeable, and a roofer himself so he knows what he is talking about and not pitching a script. By the time I had talked to him, had gone through several pitches and he knew what my goals were and met me there without needing to go through the whole pitch. The offer a great base warranty and offer a 50 year upgrade which gives you peace of mind. Yard was nicely cleaned as well and they took care to cover bushes with tarps to prevent damage. The only room for improvement, and it is minor, is 1) recommend contacting clients the day before to remind them of supplies being dropped off and 2) again day before work starts with a reminder. The workers were unable to complete the job in one day and so needed two days. They left without letting us know so we were kind of left wondering what the deal was. But, again, really minor issues. Overall, communication was great, and John checked in frequently so I've got say it was all good and would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

I found Bill's business on ServiceMagic. He had hundreds of satisfied customers. I got an estimate from Bill himself in the spring. He had a very competitive price and was offering the type of shingles I wanted. I did check some other roofs he did and they looked great. My other estimates were done by sales staff that were all trying to be my friend. They would not leave!!!! I have nothing against large service companies but you end up spending much more to pay for all that office staff and the cut for the sales rep. Anyway, Bill got his crew at my house within a few weeks. The material was delivered ahead of the job and was exactly the quality I signed up for. His crew was on time. By lunch time, they had already started to lay down the new shingles. I could see the bare plywood, and the few sheets they had to replace due to water damage. My house is about 3500sq feet with 5 dormers. In my neighborhood, roofers need 2-3 days with a normal 3-4 crew. Bill had over 10 guys buzzing around and they completed the roof by sundown. My landscape was intact. They cleaned up real well and ran magnets to remove old nails. I was glad he used his truck to haul away the debris (large dumpsters may leave dents). Bill did everything he promised, with the material I signed for. No down payment was needed. The roof has gone through multiple storms this summer without a drop in the attic. I suspect the bad review was from another roofer, just by the wording used. I posted this review later to ensure I had no leaks. read more

I had nothing but good experiences with Augustine Roofing, from the time I called for an appointment to get an appraisal for a new roof to the end of the job. Some of my neighbors had their shingles replaced due to damage from a hail storm in mid-2015. I called the company they used for an estimate, and it was considerably higher than the one I received from Augustine. A friend from a different neighborhood had his roof replaced by Augustine and was very impressed with the price, quality of material and professionalism of the staff. Upon his recommendation, I made an appointment for an inspection of my roof. Ben Burnie took pictures of hail damage areas to provide to my insurance company, explained everything to me in detail, provided pamphlets and information about their products, sent me an estimate, and stayed in touch throughout the project. Ben Burnie came back the day the adjuster arrived to point out the damage he found, and that was quite helpful, to say the least. It was a pleasure working with Ben throughout the short time it took to complete the job. The roofing crew found several leaks and six boards needed to be replaced. The job was performed while I was at work. When I returned home, I found the old shingles had been hauled away and my yard was completely cleaned up. I am very pleased with the new look of my roof, and I have received several compliments from neighbors. So, my roof had recently had it's 20th birthday and I knew it was time to replace it. Through the years, I had some leaks and this ended up staining the plywood that you could see from inside of the attic. I wanted to replace the stained plywood, the shingles and a gutter that was sagging. I made calls to 3 roofing companies. Augustine responded immediately and I met with Ben Burnie within a couple of days. Ben was (and still is) a pro. He was on time. He drove a company vehicle that had the Augustine name on it as did his shirt. Ben was very thorough, looking at the roof, gutter and in the attic. He sent me a very detailed and itemized estimate that showed the work to be done, the materials to be used and the warranty that would be provided. So at this point let me mention that ONLY ONE of the other two companies I called even called me back. THEN, it took them a long time before they showed up to give an estimate. The guy that showed up and his vehicle did not look professional and his price was higher!!! I had already been seeing Augustine trucks around my neighborhood and some of my neighbors spoke highly of them. This became an easy choice. Lowest price, best service and most professional. No brainer. Over the years I can't tell you how many calls I've made to people in the trades and NEVER got a call back or NEVER got the estimate I was waiting on. I really couldn't be happier with the sale, ordering, delivery, installation and follow up on my new roof and gutters. The install team reroofed my shed, bump outs on the home and removed a roof mounted awning. I was provided a great informational package with descriptions and pictures of all the roofing materials to be installed. I received a competitive bid. I also received excellent communication during the order and coordination on the delivery. Materials arrived as scheduled, install teams arrived as scheduled. The install crew did a fantastic job on install and cleanup. I had a company representative come by half way through the roof install to ensure the work was going well. He took pictures of the work on the roof and showed them to my wife and I. After the roof was installed the construction team lead walked around the house with me to ensure all the work was done appropriately and to my expectations. Same process was followed by the construction team lead for the gutter install. Communications with the Augustine company headquarters to coordinate on deliveries and install dates were friendly and professional. The original sales rep/estimator came by the day after the install, got up on the roof to ensure that all work was done correctly then ensured I was happy with the work. I found the company as an Elite Master Contractor on GAF website. Initial engagement was quick and easy. Mr. Dakota Biller, the estimator came on time and did a thorough examination on the roof, taking pictures from all angles and showed me the conditions of the shingles, ridge vent, pipes, skylights, everything on the roof. he then explained the roofing process in details, left the GAF product information sheet for all roofing components to be installed for me to review, and later sent me a proposal that was very reasonably priced. I read through all those materials and conducted some research online, then called him for another 1+ hours for Q&A. Got estimates later from other companies but finally selected Augustine Roofing based on such factors as price vs. value/various online review resources/trustworthiness of the estimator. Installation was very smooth, no surprises everything went according to plan. Crew worked hard, no one got inside house to use the bathroom, not even once. After they were done crew was nice enough to help knock in the loose spikes on the gutter upon my request. Mr. Biller came in after a week to conduct a walk-through process to ensure everything was done right, he once again got on the roof to take the pictures for me so now I've obtained the records for what it looked like before and after the roof replacement. We're getting ready to sell our house and needed the roof replaced and some parts repaired. I had estimates from three companies and Augustine Roofing was clearly the lowest (by as much as $10,000) and most complete. Bill came out himself to look at the roof and prepare the estimate. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and honest in his appraisal of what needed to be done. Augustine Roofing was a pleasure to work after a crazy summer storm damaged our roof, siding, windows and gutters. They were immediately responsive and created a great report for insurance. The insurance company wanted to do a patch replacement for the roof, but per Augustine, our roofing material was discontinued and needed to be fully replaced to avoid issues. The report from Augustine Roofing, along with pictures and writeups on our discontinued shingles, made the insurance company give a quick answer and say okay to a full replacement. From there, Augustine worked with our insurance company AND made the entire process very easy for us. They had great roofing samples and photos of their work, so we were able to confidently pick a color (something we aren't always great at). When replacement day came, they were fast, clean, and did a great job. It looks great and functions perfectly... that's the goal, right! Augustine Roofing made the experience pain free and ultimately saved us a lot of money. They also let know our house had never been wrapped (pre-siding), and that's going to save us time and money when we replace our siding in the future. Our "old roof" was 30+ years used, and we spent the summer accepting bids/proposals from the well-reviewed companies in the NoVA region. Our friends recommended Augustine. Augustine provided us the "best value for the buck" proposal (not lowest bid, best value). Although they are a "smaller, local company" we were confident in the product (same manufacture of roofing system as proposed by other bidders), and the skill and care they showed during install was excellent. No surprise extra costs/repairs (we needed one sheet of roofing plywood repaired. They also installed a new bathroom vent and removed a not-needed kitchen vent. Office staff was excellent. Timely, and answered all questions quickly. Materials delivered on-time. Full-team of roofers arrived as scheduled. Worked efficiently and safely (everyone on roof had a safety restraint). A few hours into the work, a QC manager arrived. Mid-afternoon, a second team of roofers arrived --- these people worked efficiently and fast. Outstanding trim work around the chimney and other edges where needed. Good post-job clean-up (not perfect - but I only found about two missed nails in the yard. Based on our experience, I recommend Augustine Roofing (I doubt I'll ever need them again, but if I needed a roof repair, they would be the first call I would make). read more

This was scary considering we could not see the roof damage (from age and storms) and had to rely heavily on a company in which we had no connection to. We recently used Augustine Roofing to replace the roof on our home. They did a superb job. Augustine is a professionally run company, and we highly recommend them for residential roofing work. Once we made the decision to go forward with Augustine, the process went very smoothly. Tony in the office was always on top of things and available when needed. The roofing crew showed up when they said they would, and they worked hard. The workers were cordial, and they picked up all their debris at the end of each day. The on site supervisor, Emilio, was also very good to work with. He answered any and all questions we had. Moreover, Augustine went out of their way to make sure we were completely satisfied with the job. For example, we had them install a new skylight as part of the work and the skylight unexpectedly needed to be trimmed out on the inside. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Augustine Roofing. We asked for quotes from multiple roofing companies when seeking to replace our 21-year-old roof and were met with horrible customer service (people not showing up for appointments, people sales-pitching us constantly, etc.), and even though Augustine Roofing's pricing was quite close to other quotes, their service absolutely was the differentiator for us. We trusted them because they showed up when they said they would, remained communicative even after we took a few months to decide, and just treated us like people and not a money source. Our faith in them was proven well-placed when we suddenly had a leak in our roof and needed immediate service to patch it weeks before the roof replacement was to take place. They came right out in the rain and fixed it for us without hesitation. Our roof now looks fantastic! After inspecting them he advised they didn't need to be replaced as they were fairly new and stated his crew would re-attach and level them, which they did, and saved me a lot of money. Augustine Roofing replaced my 24 year old roof recently and did a terrific job. It's a large roof for a single family home. They started on time at 8:30am on the scheduled day of work and finished it all in one day which was nice. They cleaned up very well after the job collecting all the roof debris and nails. The cost of the roof matched the estimate and was the lowest estimate we found after talking to six different roofers. We really appreciated that Augustine roofing did not give us any sales pitch like some of the other companies or waste our time or try to get us to pay more like some of the other roofing companies. Augustine Roofing answered all my questions and was very responsive. The company and crew were very pleasant and efficient. The office gave me addresses of other homes in the area so I could see their roof and decide on a shingle color. My neighbor also replaced their roof with Augustine and was very pleased. We had a roof that was leaking. We did notice that a few shingles popping up. Called Augustine Roofing to have them look at the damage and provide us an estimate. They promptly sent a contractor, Dakota, to assess the damage. Dakota offered to climb the roof and inspect the damage even though it was quite windy. He was able to get into the attic and visually confirm that the leak was from the roof. We decided not to get on to the roof because of the wind. The same day they were able to provide an estimate in writing. The damage was not extensive enough to file a claim with the insurance. I signed the contract after a week & they repaired the roof without much hassle. They were able to fix a date as soon as I signed the documents and they promptly showed up on the agreed upon date and fixed the roof in a timely manner. They also inspected the roof and ensured that there was no other damage to the roof. I was extremely satisfied with the professionalism and will not hesitate to hire them if the need arises again. read more
