Had a Anniversary dinner, got there right at 6. Food took an hour to get served. We were the second couple to order food. Steak salad cold yes it was a salinity usually the steak is warm to eat, now everyone who came in after us got their food before us. ? Hubs ordered filet and with rice. Came with mash potatoes they didn't listen. Filet was good he said but he hates mash potatoes. We ate everything cause it was 7:00 we were starving by then. Chief came over to argue his case about the meat in salad. Waiter was wonky more interested in wine people snoozing with people. Didn't like the place won't go back. Chief was so mad he comped our bill. There was no reason our food came out so late when people who came at 6;40 was eating the same time we were served. That's why our food was cold. Well this place should have been on my radar. We sat at the bar. It was a bustling atmosphere...with some college football on TV. Anyways.. they have a good bourbon selection and wine selection and host of other cocktails The bartenders were attentive and made good suggestions. We split an appetizer and an entree. Plus they start you with fresh bread and olives. The buttermilk fried scallops are delicious with a very different take and a good accompanying sauce. The Mahi-Mahi entree was delicious, fresh well cooked and actually thick. The side dishes with this kept it light with fresh asparagus . Plus our slice of chocolate cake was delicious! Had a corporate dinner in their private dining room last night. My wife and I attended and ordered similar meals. The wait staff was good and attentive, I'll give them that. We split a small plate of mushroom ravioli to start, and they were great, which only got our hopes up for what was to come. Unfortunately, the entrees and dessert were a complete miss. We both ordered the 14oz wagyu strip steak, medium rare. First off, you have no idea what the sides are going to be. They just surprise you with a vegetable and a starch. The food comes out and we get a few heads of blanched broccoli, a small portion of mashed potatoes, some mystery casserole, and a random single cherry tomato next to our steaks. My wife's steak was cooked well done, almost beyond. Mine was blue. The mashed potatoes were OK, but that's about it. Then there was this casserole thing. We tried to figure out what it was, and the best we could come up with was summer squash with eggs and curdled milk. As disgusting as it sounds, it tasted worse. I ate a couple heads of broccoli and moved on. The cherry tomato was honestly the best part of the entree, so thank you, random little cherry tomato. Then on to dessert. My wife got the crème brûlée and I had the blackberry cobbler. The crème brûlée was good. The blackberry cobbler was a soup. A few small blackberries swimming in some sort of liquor with a couple of tough, rubbery bits of biscuit floating around and a scoop of ice cream. My coworker next to me ordered the same thing, and his was identical. We did our best to choke some of it down, but wow, what a disaster. Old-school Greenville place that's been around a long time but it is still solid and hasn't lost the quality. Definitely Upscale but not too fancy; no frills to the decor, looks basically as it always has so it's a bit dated but that's part of the charm in a way. The service was awesome. Every once or twice in a lifetime, you have an incredible experience at a restaurant. Enough to where it is slightly unbelievable, and you want to write an essay about it. I've had that experience, and ironically, it wasn't the newest and coolest, nor could anybody, I think, claim a Michelin Award. It was at the table of an old friend. I've gone to Augusta Grill for lunches, etc., through the years. They didn't take American Express ( they do now), and my husband worked for them, so his business dinners, lunches, and our love of points always took us elsewhere. We love restaurants. Probably too much. My husband tells me that we keep the kitchen for resell value, which is not true. I am Italian, and I love to cook and show love to my family by feeding them. But we are now retired and have been traveling so much lately. It was a weeknight, and we decided to go to Augusta Grill. We didn't have reservations, and instead of a frown,  we got a big smile from the young hostess, who quickly found us a table. We soon realized how blessed we were to have been assigned Randy as our waiter. He was the epitome of a perfect waiter. I don't know how long he's worked there or how they got him. But he would be called an absolute score for any restaurant or business. He was so intuitive and continually exceeded our expectations. First of all, let me say before I forget that the food is and was phenomenal. Not just the entree but every single accompaniment. The green beans were delicious. The squash casserole was to die for. Nothing was over-spiced or over-saused. It was just naturally delicious. The crab cakes are indescribable. And to top it all off, we ordered an unknown Riesling wine. It was not an expensive wine, but it came to us incredibly ice cold, and it was so delicious and refreshing. It is now our new favorite wine. I love olives and quickly devoured the small cup that is still their signature addition to fluffy butter and a great soft crusty bread. Upon noticing the quickly emptied cup, Randy brought a much larger bowl of olives to the table. He was my new best friend. The best part of the evening began with the arrival of an underdone beautiful piece of fillet. We politely sent it back to cook it a little bit more. This somehow triggered the next course of events. Then came profuse apologies and a cup of soup not requested so my husband would not have to stare at me eating with nothing on his plate. From then on, they checked with us often and tried to make amends for something many would consider trivial. I would personally rather have an undercooked than an overcooked steak. But to them, it was so important that we were happy. I would never say that Augusta Grill is inexpensive, but they always thankfully have small plates that are pretty affordable. I now think that maybe it's their way of welcoming all. I will confess that we have paid 3 to 4 times our bill in restaurants with all kinds of acclimates and glowing full-page magazine reviews, but I have rarely felt so special and have been more pleased with every part of our meals.  If Randy wasn't enough, Clay, the manager, came out. He's part of the original family. You could tell he genuinely loved the restaurant. When we told him how happy we were, there was a genuine chest-puffed-out sense of pride that you only see when sometimes compliments one of your children. I told him how much I loved their almond-crusted trout but didn't know which night they served it. I confessed that years ago, I came every Friday for lunch because it was always their special that day. He offered to make it for me anytime with advanced notice without hesitation. I do not doubt that if I call him, he definitely would, and I intend to do so. So again, how can they give them ten stars on a 5-point scale? I hope that my account of the evening will add the extra points. I want to send out a heartfelt thanks to Randy, Clay, and the young hostess. We're adding the restaurant to our rotation and will request Randy. We also hope that now that the secret's out, the rest of the world will not be requesting Randy as well, and he will still have time to wait on us. A delightful dinner for the lunch bunch (we stepped out of our comfort zone). Seating begins at 6:00. Reservations are NOT taken for groups of less than six. We arrived about 5:45 and our name was first on the arrival/wait list so we were seated as soon as it was allowed. The menu is devided into 3 main categories, a la carte: Appetizers, Small Plates, and Entrees. We had one member who was on a soft diet due to some dental work so she ordered mashed potatoes and shrimp and grits without the shrimp! A simple request which was courteously accommodated. There were two other members who selected the same thing but WITH the shrimp. I chose the Grilled Flank Streak on a bed of greens and I shall return for that deliciousness. We shared an excellent creme brulee. The wine list is extensive and there is a "by the glass" option for each of the main selections: white, rose, champagne, and red. The pinot grigio I selected was excellent. And yes, I had white with beef--tannins in reds do not like me, nor I them. The facility is subdued--both lighting and noise level. A very elegant restaurant. There is ample free parking. And Dawn, our server was fun, helpful and excellent. Additionally, managers stopped by occasionally just to be certain all was well but they were not intrusive. Be aware that the prices are rather steep:$34 for the salmon; around $18 for my flank steak (4 slices) but the overall ambience and the excellence of the food is well worth it! read more

Wanted to spend some time with my brother and sister-in-law this weekend while I'm the in South and decided to take them out for dinner and a movie. Searched online for fine dining and found this place. We arrived early as we wanted a drink and discovered it doesn't open til 6pm. But the hostess let us come i f or cocktails. The place automatically had a cozy warm vibe that I absolutely love when it comes to dining out. Great ambiance lighting and welcoming bartender that made us spectacular cocktails and even though they didn't have stuffed blue cheese olives on the menu for my dirty martini, he made them for me anyway - is that's satisfying your customers. About a half hour in, our hostess cane and sat us in the main dining room. I'm glad we got there early - it was immediately packed. All the tables started to fill and were filled the entire time we were doing. Our server was gracious and attentive. He could have been a little warmer, but he did his job well that made up for small talk. Always attentive to our table ensuring it was cleared, water glasses full and that we were enjoying our meal throughout the evening. Appetizers came - we had the breaded scallops and spinach/artichoke dip. Wow!! For our entrees, My sister-in-law had the filet mignon, my brother the pork tenderloin, my husband had the duck and I had the NY Strip. It was accompanied by the required sides and I have to say the food was amazing and were hearty portions. Everyone raves about how great their meal was and how great all the meats were cooked. After our filling and delicious meals, we were offered an extensive dessert menu. My brother shared the coconut cream pie with his wife and I shared the raspberry chocolate cake with my husband accompanied by some great robust coffee that was a perfect end to a perfect meal and a true dining experience. If you are ever in Greenville, SC - this place is a must!! They don't accept reservations for parties under 5, so if that's your case, get there early or you'll be waiting for a long time for your table. But still would be worth the wait! read more

Cocktail was watered down. Service was attentive but the kitchen slow. My entree arrived luke-warm and other guest got mussels that were bad. Desserts were mixed up with another table. Augusta Grill is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. The food & service is normally excellent. Except our dinning experience tonight. My husband and I were seated at a booth in the bar area. After being seated I noticed the seat was spattered with something wet. Had our waiter wipe off the seat and thought all was good but then noticed when a big drip of water hit the table. Saw that the water was coming from the air conditioner vent above. We brought this to the attention of one of the managers and he came over to wipe off the table and did not apologize but offered an excuse of how many repair guys had been out to fix it. So now I'm a little angry because why would you sit customers at this booth KNOWING the vent above leaks! He did NOT offer to move us to another table. We finished our meal and was NEVER offered an apology for being seated at this table. On top of everything else I ordered the flounder that was suppose to have crabmeat but there was none! Anytime we go to this restaurant our bill is always over $100 but tonight's experience was not worth it. Traveling from St. Louis (2019 Stanley Cup Champions), we were excited to try this highly rated restaurant in the area and were not disappointed. The lobster and filet mignon were delicious. We came here for the first time recently for my birthday! This part of town has really been transforming, and Augusta Grill is no exception. Inside is intimate and warm, and has lots of booth seating and then a separate are where the bar is that looks inviting, as well. We were promptly seated and our waitress was lovely and made sure we had everything we asked for. The bread & whipped butter was fantastic, and we also enjoyed the olives it came with. For starters, we tried the goat cheese & pesto (super good-I just wish it came with more tomatoes! Though, I'm sure if I had asked they would have brought some out for me), and also the lobster-crab cake. It was small, but really packed a punch! It came with a lot of the lemon sauce and was pretty stellar. For our entrees, my dad was in love with the liver & onions, a plate he hasn't had since he was a kid. My boyfriend and I shared a couple cuts of meat. First, the NY. Strip was excellent (and huge!)! But, the filet took the gold with us. The port wine sauce it was cooked in made it even more of a knockout than the cut already was, and both were cooked precisely as we'd requested. Our waitress even made sure it was to our liking before walking away. The squash purée it came with was interesting-I guess it was half sautéed and half whipped with butter? But the mashed potatoes were ready and the green beans were excellent. My dessert was on the house for my birthday, so I had the crepe brûlée-an amazing choice! I also couldn't help but try a scoop of the espresso ice cream which was as impressive as it sounds. read more

I don't know why it took us so long! We moved to Greenville almost 3 years ago and live within walking distance to the Augusta Grill. Last night we finally made it to this gem. What a great experience, firstly we were greeted very nicely by the hostess who took our name for a table and we retired to the bar for a great drink. Then, we were seated and the service was impeccable, the wine selection broad and very reasonably priced, not the usual enormous restaurant markup on wine. Next, the meal. We each had an order of oysters that were super fresh and delicious. I had the flank steak over a Caesar salad which was outstanding at a super reasonable price. My bride had the mussels and said they were fabulous. The crème brûlée was a great finish to a memorable meal. This is now our go to restaurant...... Good meal there last night. The hostess was wonderful and the server (Mary Ann i believe her name was) was excellent. Ordered shrimp tempura. It was tasty. Had a delicious seared duck breast. My Wife had a filet. She ordered it medium and (this is the reason for only a 4-star rating from me) it came to the table well done. I will admit they quuckly removed the entree and replaced it within 12 minutes. But we had already waited 23 minutes for the meal. The chocolate lava cake was very good. Highly recommend that for dessert if you are a chocolate lover. Very clean bathrooms. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and even was able to answer portioning questions in regards to the difference between their "smaller plate" menu and "entree" menu. Impressive. Augusta grill is a sophisticated restaurant in a little shopping center south of downtown Greenville SC. From the outside, you wouldn't expect to find a fancified restaurant, but it's a bit more than your go-to restaurant. I went with a group of 7 ladies for a birthday, and they graciously reserved our table. The restaurant has good ambiance- it's fancy, but not too fancy. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable about the wine menu. They serve warm bread with homemade butter and a side of olives, which was very nice. I ordered the roasted pepper chicken fettucini, which was extremely rich and tasty. Sara ordered a pecan-crusted trout (I believe it was trout) and she said it was excellent. The culinary influence in each dish is tailored to ensure you enjoy each bite of your meal. Of course, this isn't cheap- I believe entrees are ~$18-35. All in all, this is a good place to go for great service and good food, but it's a bit pricey. I'd come back here for special occasions! read more

We were invited to a tailgate party that was in a separate room from the main dining room. There were a variety of appetizers and a bar along with TV monitors for viewing the game. The bartender was great at remembering drinks and came out to offer refills. The food was constantly replenished with delicious dishes. We will be back for regular dining. read more

A perfect example of ordinary food under the guise of fine dining. The menu sounds sophisticated and gourmet, yet what I actually consumed could easily have been served at a Piccadilly cafeteria. The appetizer of baked cheese grits with chicken apple sausage was tasty yet something about it seemed very thrown together. I probably could have bought some diced Hillshire Farm polska kielbasa, packed some Aunt Jemima quick grits into a muffin tin, put it all in the oven for 10 minutes and ended up with the same thing. For my main meal, I ordered the pork chop which turned out to be so thick and tough that I really had to utilize the strength of my entire upper body to cut off each bite sized piece. Repeating this exercise was so laborious I simply gave up about a quarter of the way through. Some sort of squash souffle, a giant heap of garlic mashed potatoes, and a side of green beans rounded out the meal, all of which were very run-of-the-mill and borderline bland. Also--either the portion sizes were too large or the plate was way too small, but something didn't seem to add up. Augusta Grill fares well, however, most likely due to the loyal customers who live down the street. A good place to go for an edible meal without any frills. My tip: if you lower your expectations before you arrive, you might really like it. read more
