I browsed this dealer's website with a specific car in mind and saw that they had a couple in stock. I noticed in the photos that the price sticker was different than the listing price. I called to confirm that the listing price was correct and it was - the photo in the listing was the one they took when the vehicle was initially put up for sale. When I asked if it was possible that it could be negotiated further, they said no since they had already reduced the price. Fair enough, it seemed like a nice enough vehicle and I was already very interested.
I drove two hours today, to their location, to give it a test drive and thorough inspection and I was ready to make the purchase if everything looked like it was in working order. The vehicle was parked at their Metairie location just down the road but the gate was locked. I called the Kenner location to ask about it and they said that the Metairie location was closed today.. even though the website clearly stated that the hours of operation on Saturday was from 9AM to 4PM. They said that they would pick up the vehicle and bring it to the Kenner location though. I thought that was nice.
When they pulled up in the vehicle, I noticed that the driver had the window down (it was 40 degrees outside). I thought that was strange..... until I opened the door. The headliner near the front windshield on down to the dash was severely water damaged. The scent of the mold hit me like a ton of bricks... Hours later I still have a headache and a foul taste in my mouth from it.
I told the dealer that I was absolutely not interested in the vehicle and explained why. He acted like he had no idea it was in such horrible condition. NOTE that the photos did not look at all like this... Either this vehicle still has a horrible leak and it gets worse every time it rains (the photos were taken before it deteriorated into this condition) or they flat out used photos of a different vehicle.
I think it would also help potential buyers to know that this same dealer attempted to close the trunk of a Nissan Altima we were standing next to and it wouldn't shut. The SUV parked behind the Altima had a flat.
Another highlight of this visit was attempting to point out why the other make/model I was looking for, that they had in stock, was priced well over the fair market value. Body damage.. damaged components under the vehicle, etc... He literally walked away from me while I was in mid-sentence and just pretended like we were not there. Needless to say, we got out of there as quickly as we could.
BEWARE! Don't waste your time with this place. If you live nearby, feel free to go by and see for yourself! Forgive my language, but the only thing that stinks worse than that car was the bullshit coming out of this dealer's mouth! read more
