From the moment I walked in, the team was super friendly and professional. They installed the cameras beautifully, making sure to hide all the wires and cables, so my car looks neat and tidy. I found the dash cameras to be easy to use and very affordable, especially since I wanted a high-quality product that fits my budget. I also wanted cameras where I could transfer the recorded videos to other computer devices, if need be. Well, a few weeks later (after installing the dash cameras), I was involved in a car accident. Jesse and Jay integrated a Helix Audio system into my VW Jetta with Beats audio. It's more complicated than it sounds. The end result is a car that now has proper sound deadening, a quality set of component speakers, an amplifier with DSP, and a compact subwoofer. I could not be happier. To elaborate, the doors and the door panels have layers of sound deadening material. The speakers were placed in the stock locations, with custom in -house 3D printed adapters. Eveything is designed to go back to stock configuration if needed. There are very few high end car audio & security shops in existence, and this is one of them. read more

Unfortunately there was a issue with a slow dim overhead light that was confusing the alarm "brain". Jesse the owner/operator contacted the manufacturer. They said they would get him a firmware update. After a week of waiting he called with news of no update. He told me he could work around the problem only it would be a lot of extra work. My goal is not to burn this company but I want to let people know what they're getting. I started by bringing a quote from CarToys in and had them look at it. It was approximately a $3500 setup with some pretty exotic components (JL and Focal). Jesse led me to a different direction with putting dash speakers and a couple other ideas that CarToys didn't mention. I pulled the trigger with Audio NW and they did a good job, but it was primarily a bass install, and the bass was absolutely terrible. It was an MTX Thunderform 2 10" truck box but I have heard single 8s that sounded better. My Skullcandy headphones had more bass. I think too much of the money went into the mid/highs that I cared less about, and price of install was rather expensive. In addition, during install my Edge EZ chip supposedly "exploded" and they didn't offer to compensate me for it at all. A little disappointed and upset, I went back in several times to see where I could go better. Jesse is very knowledgeable about Audio and offered a lot of different dimensions to audio. This is about the most positive thing I have to say, and warrants more stars for others. We eventually decided to lift the seats and I got a solid fold seat to get more volume. I was gonna go full SPL this time. I asked if we could stick to the same budget ($3500 MORE) and he did the math and made it sound like that would be very doable. He led me towards DD audio components and at the time estimated $600-1200 for the custom box. When I finally saved the money and had it done, I waited for about a month for the materials to come in. They did a preliminary install step and broke my shift knob. Second broken part and once again no compensation. I paid for all the components up front and just saved the box until the end. This is where things start to get nasty. Things are already running more expensive than planned, even though I asked Jesse to include all hidden components (labor, wires, etc.) in the estimate. He WAY overpromised and underdelivered on the time it would take to finish the box. My truck was in there over a week later than originally promised, and mind you this is my daily driver. And no call once it was done or about; I called them. When I picked it up, the price of the box jumped to $1700, with no warning. and apparently this was "half off" with their high shop rate of $120/hour, and free materials. Which doesn't add up: 12 hours x $120 is $1440. IN ADDITION, they ruined my mid/high 2 channel amp somehow (up to 3 items now). This is the part that really burned me and by far the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE REVIEW. Jesse knew I was possibly in the market for a 200 watt 4 channel amp (200.4) but wanted to wait till after the bass when I had more money. Well my amp went out and they just upgraded me to a MapleTech 70.4 70w amp, much less power than I wanted, and CHARGED ME FOR THE DIFFERENCE. They didn't even tell me about that, ask me if I wanted to move forward with that or anything. They installed it without my permission and charged me for it. I'm not sure if this was even legal, but it was extremely lucrative. The total for this setup was $5200, way WAY over my $3500 budget initially promised. Angry but excited, I had a new system. But the bass knob included with the amp (with a clip light) did not come and would come later. Three weeks later, after very LIGHT usage due to the break in of the subs, the $1250 amp completely went out. Gone, no bass, $8800 later. We had to send it in the manufacturer and it took almost a month to come back. In addition, he expected me to pay $200 to ship the faulty amp there and back, even though it was covered under warranty. I'll note that this same issue happened a year later, even with extremely close monitoring of the clip light. Layne said the system should hit about 150 db, as he knew someone with a similar sized box, same subs and amp. Jesse told me my box had about 4 ft^3. I don't know what happened, but it is definitely no where near the 150 db threshold. I took it to Car Toys and the SPL Specialist James said there was something off about it, because there should be way more bass output. Then he showed me his setup with much less expensive, much lower RMS subs and a 3 ft^3 box, and they were way louder. He also couldn't believe that they didn't even flange the ports on my custom $1700 box. He said he's confident they could have done a much better job and cheaper. Since day 1, the tweeters have had a problems making a loud irritating buzzing noise. They tweak settings to make it go away but it has come back time and time and time again. After a year, the deck they installed with the backup camera they installed quit turning on when using reverse, and they were no help in finding a solution other than to try to sell me a new deck. Now, the right side of the 2 channel amp fades in and out and makes the same buzzing. It's never ending. These guys are alright with everyday stuff but absolutely not SPL. read more

Had issues with my head unit, called the shop, and Jesse was able to fit me in the same day. He explained everything after the job was complete and very happy with the results. The staff really care about their customers and will start coming here for all my car stereo needs. The shop is very clean and well organized. Was a customer back in the day when Doug ran the Downtown Olympia ANW. Just drove home from their shop with my upgraded stereo head unit. Very happy with the results; they were a pleasure to work with. I've had this 1999 Audi since new, and the factory dash-mounted head unit recently blew its integrated fuse. I wanted to upgrade anyway, for USB and Bluetooth stuff. (they found some residual water in the car from a months ago leak event that might explain the fuse) Also, it seems there was some shattered safety glass under the carpets and moldings from when the car was broken into about 15 years ago. (rear window smashed) I could have sworn I paid people to make these issues right at their respective times. I bring this glass stuff up because it occurs to me that these folks face real risks when digging into your car. Who knows who left what in-between the seats or down the side of the dash? Could be broken glass, needles, or god knows what else. Anyway, the new system sounds great and it adds several modern functions to my system. The total cost was very fair, and the cost of the hardware was less than I expected. Glad to have it, and glad to recommend Audio Northwest. read more

Ok first off I just got done reading all the reviews for this place and I don't understand some of them. They make this place sound awful. I went in and made an appointment with Jessie to check out my car and a dash cam I wanted to install. Unfortunately I just didn't feel comfortable putting the rear cam in and hardwiring the cam to the car. When I showed him the product I wanted to install and let him know I had a Mini Cooper (btw not everywhere knows how to work on a mini correctly even with simple jobs) he looked at it all then we had a conversation about my needs and concerns and he let me know he could do this job. I felt pretty confident since I have been to different places and man did some of them sound sketchy. So I ended up setting up a date and time for the install. All went well. No issue. He did a great job and he is pretty knowledgeable about it all. So for people that tried to give this place a bad rep. You definitely missed out on something good. As for the people that are still searching for the right person to work on your car. Give them a call or better yet go in there and talk to them. Yes not everything is ever going to be cheap and yes services costs $$$$$ they gotta eat too. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Had them install a kenwood head unit in my mazda 6 which required a custom replacement panel for temp/ac control and display. It work a couple of days before the display failed - the head unit and audio controls worked fine. Called the owner and installer several times but they were not interested in resolving this problem or offering any kind monetary discount. So, I had to remove the panel myself and discovered a connector was not seated correctly. This was a couple of years ago and the reason I bring it up now is because I want upgrade my 2017 Tacoma audio and will not be using Audio Northwest services. It's great to see for a local business the five star ratings but i've gotta be honest that I don't get the fivestar service. I've called three times and stopped in twice in the course of a year and I never get the feeling that the installer is intrested in doing the work or the person at the counter Has any car audio experience. I'm only posting this because I spoke to a gentleman ten minutes ago on the phone and I barely got a sentence out of my mouth and he was not intrested in any of the custom work I need to done I don't Feel I should stop in to get an idea of cost over the phone. Was a customer here in 2014 and had a touch radio and back up camera installed. 3 years goes by and the backup camera starts messing up. Called them recently to have them look at it and they brought me in. Took a look a the camera, after some searching they found the issue, fixed it on the spot and they didn't charge anything. In all honesty they could have said the issue is unfixable and for me to buy a new camera, but they didnt. I feel like I should have paid something at least for labor since the whole event took about 2 hours. Their customer service is top notch. 10/10 I would recommend coming to this location to have anything audio installed on your vehicle, you will be taken care of.
