Although they were very knowledgeable of the equipment the prices were ridiculously high. I wasn't given a concrete price for a 10inch sub, amp, and wire install, but was asked my price range. They threw out a idiotic estimate for an Alpine pack of 1750, and the reason was because I had a new car. I declined and they begin offering lower prices but I started to wonder why not offer the lowest price from the jump. Why did the price change at all? Well here we go.. Last year I went to this place to look at adding a amp and sub. They were helpful , built a "custom" box for my speaker , amp and installed was nice! No complaints on the first visit.... Total price was about $1500 or so. Fast forward to today..... Traded my truck in so I wanted to have my amp and sub removed and put back to its original form. First off, the "custom box" was just that a box, not much to it all, just a box not bolted down. Amp was held by screws. Not much there, only technical part would be to unwire it from the factory stereo, can't be that hard for professionals, sense I did not want to make any mistakes (as I am not a professional) i took it to the original place. I had called the week before to schedule the appointment, appointment was made, The guy I spoke to said it would be half the cost of the original installation. It was about $600 or so. So going into this I figured around $300. They quoted me $754.... I was shocked. Feel like they were just throwing a number at me to see how much I would pay. Trash people and trash service. They charge you twice the amount of the radio itself for the install, act like they're bored of talking to you while they make up their absurd bill, then take twice as long as they were supposed to to install the radio, then they mess that up as well. My car GPS now doesn't know where I am anymore, they only screwed one side of the radio bracket in so it rattles, and you lose function if your car's standard car charger. At some places you pay extra for quality, at this place you pay extra to fund incompetence. read more

I needed a new Bluetooth CD Receiver to replace a very old one. I also needed new speakers to replace my 20 year old speakers. They worked within my price range, were great to work with and offered quality products. I've read the reviews here. And, while labor cost has gone up, we are in inflation/recession, minimum wage is $15.74 (hard to keep staff), and corporations who own these places--what were once private businesses--are putting a tremendous amount of pressure to bring in money. To me, while it is costing me more than I thought, I had a budget and they stuck to it. Great customer service and installation are worth it. I went to this dealership to find out what was available for our truck. The sales person said they only had 2 items in stock. Neither was a perfect fit for my needs: I would lose the fade function of our Infinity sound system and neither option connected to the existing vehicle navigation system which directly syncs to satellite GPS regardless of your limited cell service coverage in areas. A second employee came up (he was an installer I think) and he ensured this would work great in my car (but it didn't have the backup camera I wanted and I would have to buy and get that installed separately...) I repeatedly expressed these concerns, especially the concern about navigation because without cell service there is NO navigation. The manager (tag team employee #3) assured me I could just pre-print maps for my destination) I was dazed with an overload of information, technology and terms I didn't understand so this seemed to make sense at the time (oh yea print a map...my printer hasn't been used in 2 years!) I was really on the fence, but there was this big red sign in the store that said something like "No Regrets" refund policy if returned within 5 days. That was what sealed the deal for me. Remorse free purchase because I change my mind. So yea, I changed my mind. I didn't really want what they had to offer in the first place. I contacted them before that 5 day time period was up and the manager calmly told me they will absolutely take back the products but I will still owe them for the 3 hours of installation time (at $150 per hour) which would not be refunded. I try to be a smart consumer. I didn't research hourly installation rates, and I didn't look up how much time it would take for the installation. It was about the 1.5+ hour mark with the comment from behind the counter that the installer had help from a second person to get it done more quickly which must have added to the cost because a 1 hour installation is on my invoice in 3 places. . The icing on this pie-in-the-face surprise was the smug tone of the manager when I explained my original concerns and feeling pressured to buy even through it wasn't what I wanted. He asked me to reiterate my concerns and reminded me that yeah even though it isn't connected, you can still print a map like I told you in the store. It wasn't until then that I realized he was #3 employee in the 3 tag team machine that screwed me. read more

Excellent Service I went here to get a rear view back up camera and some other pieces for my vehicle. It took about a good 4 hours or so to get everything installed but it was well worth the wait! This is a second review as I had a problem and went back in and didn't get the service/response I thought I should have. It also caused me to shop around and found another place to have my car audio corrected/installed that did much better. I went in to this Car Toys late summer and told the sales guy several times I want something easy to operate as I don't care for these new units with only supper small push buttons. I'm 61 and I can't be taking a magnifying glass to see the radio buttons while I'm driving. I went in with a friend as he was looking for a radio for a new to him truck he bought. We saw these units that will fit in a normal radio hole in the dash yet has a large screen that comes out and flips up as it has Apple Play with nice big icons to navigate. Enters the sales lady and I ask why I wasn't sold this as it looks much easier to operate? She didn't know but confirmed it is easier. I told her I spent about $2,000 on my unit with all the parts and installation and I ended up with a unit I can only adjust when I'm stopped. I ask if I could get even a partial trade-in on my still new radio on the newer, much more expensive uint. The answer came back NO because I was past the 60 day time for returns. I argued my case saying I was sold this by their sales person the wrong radio as I ask for one that I could operate easy. Still no! Not going to give me one penny toward a new one not even a discount on installation. I walked out and my friend who was going to buy that same $500 radio from them walked out also telling them that based on how they treated me he would not be doing any business with them anymore. I went to another place that gave me a "Better Buy" as they sold me the more expensive radio for $50 less and also change about $25 less on the installation. However, the sales person knew we didn't know anything and proceeded to sell us a product not suitable for my car. Quoted $65 to install a front and rear dash cam that I've purchased elsewhere. Cool. Take it in. Girl at front asks if I have an appt. No. Did you purchase it here? No. (She looks annoyed) Guy comes over (super nice and thanks for taking over since I'm a bother to her) looks at it and asks what I was quoted on the phone and I said $65. He said yeah no you're looking at around $150. She prints a quote for me to take and it comes to $251. I said what happened to the $150? She said it's for the front and back. And then she says here let me attach my business card for you. Ha. Yeah no I won't be back and car toys won't get a dime from me. Even if you do work by commission and for sales you can at least have a better attitude. Disappointed in you car toys... you used to be a lot better than this. Clearly your time needs some work. Great experience all around. If you want to upgrade your car and not pay an arm and a leg, this is the place. I brought my T1N Sprinter van in for new speakers and got a great quote on adding electronic lock actuators and an alarm, so I did all three. They made some good suggestions (Bill suggested adding two 6" speakers in the cab ceiling for better surround sound - Yes!) and gave me a great quote for the work. Scheduling was easy. It turns out that my van has old-style cable locks which were a massive pain to add the actuators to, but they stuck with their original quoted price even when it took many hours to install. Josh was the service guy who did the install and he was great! Very friendly and super helpful. Someone should give that guy a raise. Seriously. Thank you for all your hard work, Josh! I also appreciated John, who showed me how to find the "hidden" panic button on my new fobs. As a woman, I find many shops that deal with anything automotive either talk down to me, try to sell me things I don't need, or are straight-up rude. Everyone at this location was polite and easy to talk with. I would definitely return. My only recommendation to other customers is to ask lots of questions, as the sales guys I spoke with didn't tend to run through all of the options of different models. Two thumbs up! read more

Had good service several years ago, but when I went in to get a very simple installation of an upgraded car alarm module, the technician tried to convince me that it was impossible and that I had to rip out my 3 year old system and start from scratch. I played dumb, not wanting to cause a scene, but I've never encountered shady upselling from Car Toys before. Went down the street to a mom and pop, the owner shrugs and says no problem, module swapped out in 20 minutes at a reasonable cost. Nice people, bad truck installation. They kinda threw a sub and two 6"x8" speakers behind my seat without actually securing anything. The speakers would fall forward if I fold the seat forward. The system itself was okay, but it pushed my seat up a good 5" forward. All without calling me first to ask if it's okay. I'm a tall man, my knees would often turn on the turn signals while driving. Then I had to return it. The return itself was okay, even repaired a foot rest thing they broke off. However, they actually charge labor to return their shoddy work. It leads me to believe returns are so common there, they needed to add a fee to make it worth it for them. I ended up losing $1000 to find out car toys is the McDonald's of audio installations. read more

Did a fast job of troubleshooting and solved it, even tuned it up so it sounds better now than before. Only complaint would have been the time to get out after they fixed it, with a different customer car blocking mine in. Very very very impressed with this location! Everyone on staff was very helpful and James O'Hern is very knowledgable and experienced when it comes to tuning sub boxes for custom installs. I visited this location because I purchased an 05 Silverado about 6 months back that came with aftermarket door speakers all the way around ran to a 1000w Kenwood amp under the seat and a separate 500w Alpine amp to power a subwoofer that was removed before I bought the truck. I noticed the back door speakers had not been working since the truck was purchased and wanted to have them look into the issue and get it fixed. Within 10 mins they were able test and show me the the existing speakers were both blown so I had them throw in a pair of JL door speakers and problem solved. While the installer replaced the door speakers me and James were chatting back and forth about subwoofer options that would fit under the rear seat. They must have showed me 4-5 different options but I wasn't really impressed with the sound quality of the JL shallow mount subwoofer line and needed more BASS! He then showed me a new line of subwoofer that just hit the show floor called DC audio. This is more of a bass competition subwoofer and definitely more my style! He told me he could build a custom box for the 8" DC Audio M3 sub that would fit under the seat and tune it to hit all the low BASS you typically hear in hip hop / rap. Needless to say I was very SKEPTICAL of his recommendation as I was expecting him to point me in the direction of 2 shallow 12's in a standard truck box. I decided to trust him and went with his recommendation to build a custom sub box that very few if not nobody else in this area has. They tuned the box to 33.5hz and I'm still blown away at how much air this 8" sub moves it's INSANE! I left there with a new double den Kenwood deck that has the new hands free Apple play features, 2 JL door speakers, an 8" DC audio M3 sub in a custom box and a warranty to cover everything for the next 4 years! I'm super happy with how everything turned out and would highly recommend you go see James and the team at car toys in Lacey, WA to help you get your custom system installed! Thanks again read more

They blew me off. Seriously. I went in for a new car stereo, got decent service at first. Then said I'd think on it and call w/questions. Called couple days later (early in the day) and was told "I'm kinda busy..." Seriously. I asked if I should call back - he said "maybe better to come in". When I went in, a different person answered my questions (thank you!) and scheduled the install. I was SO VERY excited to get my tunes. Took half a day off from work to do it (!!) They pulled my car in and 20min later told me they didn't have the right parts....then acted like it was MY fault they didn't have 'em. They said they'd get them and call as soon as they were in. No call. I came in to check on it in a few days - no one could find the information. Finally, Wendy said she'd look into it and DEFinitely would call as soon as parts were in. I waited. No call. Waited s'more....NO CALL. Finally went to JEFF at SOUND WAVES, who ordered the stereo and install parts, scheduled my service and I'm now on my way up the highway with GREAT tunes, and got GREAT service at Sound Waves....local, helpful and they know their stuff. read more

After purchasing I started reading reviews and was very nervous to drop my 2013 F150 off for interior/exterior detailing. I'm very happy to report that Evan did an amazing job cleaning up my truck. I take care of it but I don't clean or vacuum it regularly so there was a decent amount of debris, spilled coffee, and crumbs inside. I had only waxed my truck once all year and knew it needed some love. The inside and outside look completely new. I'm blown away. Went in to get an estimate on the purchase and install of subwoofer's, and another estimate for door speakers and tweeters. Everything was going good but for some reason they kept asking me how much I wanted to spend instead of telling me the price for what I wanted....that was the first red flag. The next issue was they didn't t communicate any of the speakers other than the subwoofers and kind of started making up prices. I was told it would be about $2000 for two 12" subs install and about $5000 for doors, tweeters and subs. They tried to get me to use their finance program but I told them I would pay cash and that upset them. I asked for a print out of the prices to see what I was getting and they told me it was $20 to print out and that their computer doesn't let them print. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! They will try to scam you any way possible. I took my car to rainier audio and got an estimate for more than half the price of what they told me. They try to play you like you're dumb but they didn't know I have other cars with speaker installed and I have done work myself. They just want your money. read more

I had that car for less than 1year and I had to get rid of it because the radio and all the wiring kept falling out of the dash every time I turned without holding it. The final straw was when the dash face, radio, and the air conditioning vents fell down when I was getting onto the freeway. The vents detached and went under my foot. Installation manager was so mad that I refused to accept my faulty equipment and he was required to exchange it that I could hear him slamming my car door from inside the facility! He then just rudely handed me my keys and walked away. I had a kit installed years ago by Car Toys in my 350Z so I could charge and play music through my iPhone 4S, and it worked great. Recently I upgraded to an iPhone 6S and tried to find out how to upgrade my car situation so my charging and music could continue. Based on what the Apple store had told me about how iPhone 6S could no longer play music through the charging port, I wasn't sure how to accomplish this. Best Buy told me I would have to get a kit to play low quality music through the car's radio, or possibly spend $400 for a new stereo with an AUX port. Nissan had no idea about anything and said nothing like that exists for 350Z or 370Z. You would think this was the most impossible, expensive task in the world based on the reaction from all the usual suspects. Anyway, I brought my Z in to the same Car Toys where I had the original kit installed, spoke with Chris Johnson at the store, and he had a simple, cheap solution for me within 5 minutes: an Apple adapter. It accomplished exactly what I wanted for $29.99. I can't believe Apple, Nissan, and Best Buy had zero idea how to help me, even after I explained that I already have the 30 pin kit in my car. I appreciated the fast and competent assistance! Playing all my music on a fully charged iPhone through the car's factory Bose sound system was one of my favorite things about riding in the Z and I'm extremely happy I didn't have to spend an arm and a leg to retain that experience :) read more

Had quite a bit of work done - dash cam, head unit with amp, sub woofer with amp, and 4 speakers. I paid a pretty penny. They were very courteous, respectful, and helpful despite frequent visits to fine tune and troubleshoot. You will find quality products but please do your own research on what you want, and if you're not sure, know how to articulate what you are looking for, and don't completely trust that they will be able to pick the right equipment for you. They run a very busy business, so communication may be a challenge. They strive to make customers happy and in the end you will be happy read more

I brought my car in for a replacement radio, Excellent job on it. But when I brought my car in for a car detail. The price was a bit higher then I expected. I have some scratches on my Ridgeline and the guy who was detailing said that he would have to wet sandpaper that part of the car, Well that lasted less then 3 days. I kept checking that part of the car and now its obvious that the scratches are showing up again. And its much worst. I paid an additional 100 for them to fix the scratches. I guess now I will have to pay a paint shop to repaint my vehicle. I was happy when they showed me the Truck at first, but the job didn't last very long. So just as a warning make sure your vehicle is done right. I'm giving them 3 stars because the radio job was excellent, but the detail job turned me off for their detailing. read more

I went in to get a complete system for my car but I will gladly be taking my business else where. Their manager must be new.
