For about 3 months I have been scouting for car stereo upgrade to my JBL disc changer system since it started showing signs that it is about to expire. I have checked around several places including the famous Car Toys. I decided to check Yelp for some feedback/reviews and came across Magic Auto Sound. Family-run business. I had a touch-screen/dvd stereo system installed. Brian was the one who set-up everything for me. He was nice enough to also replace a busted center console lightbulb at no charge. I purchased a Groupon to get my windows tinted at M.A.S and since it was a BMW it was an additional $50 charge at the store. We were informed about the additional charge prior to booking the appointment so no surprise there . I was a bit nervous reading some negative reviews but decided to go ahead and take the chance anyway since I really wanted my windows tinted and my husband was only willing to go the groupon route lol. But anyway, Brian did I great job he was extremely nice and professional. The whole thing took less than 3 hours and I had no bubbling whatsoever on any window. The only thing I did notice was that some windows had some small "scratches" on it , idk I'll see if it'll come off once I clean the window after the drying period but It's not a big issue . Find another place to install your stereo! They seemed like a nice family owned business. When I met Andy (the owner on paper but his father runs the place) he was really nice even as he explained to me the best way to skirt the laws in place for driving and watching movies. He installed a switch and told me if I were to get pulled over just flip this switch and the police will not be able to tell that the DVD player was on! I paid around $1600 dollars to have them install 2 subwoofers in a sealed box with amp included, 4 midrange door speakers and 4 tweeters that I had purchased from Amazon.com. (they sell the same ones for $150 more than amazon. I purchased a DVD player stereo and an amp from magic audio. After all was finished I left for home only to have my dash fall apart on my way there. I fixed it myself that night. When I closed my driver side door I felt the handle pop up out of its mooring!? WTF!? my door too! Same problem with the door handle. They were so incompetent that they broke all the locking tabs on the door panels of 2 doors and my dash. I again fixed it myself. When I left for work the next morning I noticed that my rear view mirror was leaking oil from the bottom. (It's a $500 dollar dimmable/multi sensor mirror.) I have 3 cameras inside my vehicle for work / safty reasons and good thing I do! I rewound the tape and watched the very moment when Andy's little brother broke my mirror. I then put on my hidden pen camera and went to confront magic audio about the damage. (They knew my car was rigged with cameras because I notified them and asked that they leave them plugged in during the installation process, plus they had to work around them.) I first spoke with Andy's little brother who acknowledged that he had caused the damage and promised to fix it or write me a check for the cost. (All of which was captured on 1080p video!) He said he would order the factory mirror and replace it the next few days after it came in because they do not stock this type of mirror. I was fine with that and went on my way. After a few days went by with no word I stopped back by the shop to find out what was being done. They made me wait a long time before coming to tell me that the Dad said they wouldn't pay for my $500 dollar mirror. I informed him that I have the whole thing on video and that I would take him to small claims court to remedy my problems if they chose to ignore the damage. Then they said that if I can just show them the video they will fix it today? I said that's not how that works. You know damn well YOU did the damage! They just wanted to see if I could prove it or not. I tried very hard to work with this entire family. (I personally always try to support family business). They then told me that they cannot fix my mirror because their dad was out of the country and to come back next month when he gets back so he can fix it. I let them know that as long as it was fixed I would still give them a 5 star rating on yelp. I came back the very Monday that we had agreed on exactly 36 days prior. They acted like they didn't know who I was or why I was there!? At this point I had wasted far too much time and energy to work with them on anything other than fixing my car. They once again said that if I can show them the video they will fix it. I said that they will see it in court at which point in time they can also pay for my lost wages, travel expenses, attorney's fees, damaged mirror, damaged dash, and refund my money for the incompetent work done on my vehicle as well as whatever the courts deemed justified for my inconvenience. That is where I sit now. I will update this review after the small claims court has ruled on my claim against Magic Car Audio. Go down the street to cartoys and get it done correctly for $20 bucks more. This place is NOT going to follow the law on fixing damages incurred by technicians in their employment. read more

When I read the review where someone said that there were bumps in their cars window after he got them tinted, I was very nervous to get mine done here. BUT, I am so glad that I just got them done here anyways. I told the worker that I was nervous to get my windows tinted because I read a review where there would be bumps... but he assured me that there are bumps in all window tinting when you first get them done. He told me that they would go away after 2 weeks...And surely enough they have gone away! So to that review: I bet the bumps are all gone now! I had a great experience at Magic Auto Sound. They are newer to the Federal Way area after having run a shop for a long time in California. Given they were new, I was a little hesitant to try them out. Plus my car, a BMW Z3, is really, really hard to work on. I spent a lot of time reading online about special non-standard speakers that would be required, there was some cutting required on stock sub enclosure, plus it's a convertible and there just isn't a lot of space to work in a car like that. Magic Auto Sound replaced all of the stock speakers (6+subwoofer) and they installed an extra set of tweeters (for FREE) with my job which I thought was a nice touch. They also put an amp in the trunk, re-wired the car, and installed a new Bluetooth deck. Brian handles the customer service and he was easy to work with. Installation was reasonable and the new system sounds great. I had bought a replacement sub for them to install, but it turned out to be the wrong one. They went online and bought the sub I needed for me. Here are some highlights of my experience: * The worksmanship on the amp install in the trunk was top notch. The trunk in my car is super small, they built a custom mount, carpeted it (I can't even tell which carpet they installed vs. what was in there before), mounted the amp. It looks pro. * I told them on first listen the tweeters sounded quiet. They installed a second pair of tweeters. Sound is amazing. * Installation was relatively quick and definitely less expensive than I thought it would be. * They went out of their way to order a custom speaker for my car and have it shipped to them online * They were very careful to explain how everything worked (I am not an audio person) and make sure I was making the right decision for me and not buying a bunch of stuff I didn't really want or need * Good communication. They would call me with ETA on delivery and kept me up to date on progress One other thing, this is a family shop. They deserve your patronage. Definitely 5 stars. read more
