After I got my battery changed, my speakers decided to stop working. I tried everything I could to mess with it but nothing was working. We went here to have remote start installed in my car earlier in the week. Audio Express is amazing! We had an appointment for 9am, and before 3pm we already had the vehicle returned to us. They have a sign up that let's everyone know that they don't do time estimates for this particular service since all cars are so different, but I was so happy to have my vehicle back before the end of the day! The gentleman who helped us at the end even took us out and showed me how to use the new remote for my vehicle. I was in the market for a new stereo system for my car. I had a touch screen receiver in my car that was getting a little old and was going out on me. The first time I went there, I talked to a guy at the front, he seemed knowledgeable and showed me the models they had (went straight to the most expensive even though I told him my price range). I then told him again I was interested in the $400-$500 models and he took me to them and then proceeded to disappear. I found one I liked and was willing to spend the money right there for the receiver and installation. I asked another salesman if they had it in stock and told him I wanted it installed ASAP if possible. He then told me they only had one double din stereo receiver in stock for the entire store. So that day let's just say I didn't buy anything. A couple weeks later, I called them and was looking at a similar receiver and decided I'd call before I wasted my time going in. I asked them what they would charge to install a receiver and told them what model I liked. At that point the salesman had this tone that I was inconveniencing him and said "oh well, we are pretty booked up this week, they beat you to the punch, but you can come in and we can get you an appointment". I got the impression I was wasting this guys time and he had more important things to do. He then recommended maybe buying it and installing it myself. I know if this was my business, I would have more than one receiver in stock for the entire store, you are probably losing a lot of money by turning people away. So that day I went to Unique Sounds in Carson City. They fit me in even though they were booked up that day because I couldn't come back for a week due to work, and had my receiver installed in 2 1/2 hours. If you are looking for car stereo or anything in this category, don't bother with this place. They're getting us one star because I have to give it to them. People I'm going to be as honest as I can be I really hope that you never take your vehicle here. My daughter took her Jeep that she paid a ton of money for to this place and they literally messed her Jeep up to the point my daughter is going to have to hire a lawyer. I called and got a quote over the phone I told him exactly what needed to be done I told him that my daughter had her own equipment and they gave me a quote of $800 we made appointment for the next day when we got there and I seen it my daughter was transgender the price went from $800 to$1,700! But my daughter went ahead and told him to do the work they said it would be there that day at the end of the day they call and say we need it tomorrow morning when morning had passed it turned into afternoon and then evening so they had the jeep for two days. So let me backtrack a bit when I called them they told me that if my daughter had her own equipment they would have to check it to make sure that it worked before they installed it that's very important to this story. At the end of 2 days my daughter called up there about an hour before closing time they said all is going well the stereo sounded good they were just wrapping up when we go up to pick up the Jeep and my daughter goes in to get her keys they tell her the stereo isn't working but that's funny they checked it and said it was working fine secondly my daughter was told by a phone call that they needed other equipment they upsold her they also charged her for cutting holes in the dash for speakers that wasn't cut there were four speakers that weren't even installed the other parts of the stereo which I don't even know the names of them we're not mountain nothing was mounted it was velcroast like a Jeep is an off-road vehicle and nothing's mounted securely I mean even I know that stupidity. My daughter had leather seat covers that she had just purchased and put on her seats they were covered in Greece one seat cover was even cut and they tried to repair it somehow but it's a very noticeable mark. I had left a very expensive jacket in my daughter's vehicle in the backseat forgot it when she picked the Jeep up that jacket was laying in the floorboard with black greasy footprints all over it. One individual call my daughter dude over and over!!! How transphobic can you get, maybe if you're that kind of prejudiced you should put a sign in the window saying you only serve straight people! I can't stress enough how ugly these people were to my daughter she left there with a hole where her stereo should be with two holes no I'm sorry for holes in the dash two of which her air ducts were in that they just left in the back of the car all the speakers all the parts just running the back except for the old stereo the factory stereo and speakers they took out they only left one of the speakers in the back of the Jeep nothing else did they leave so that's called stealing. After upselling my daughter the total bill was $19 00 plus dollars has anyone ever heard such a thing that you paid that much for a stereo with a backup camera and some speakers installed and you've got all the equipment and it cost you two grand to have it installed but wait when they blow up your stereo and they also stepped on one of the new speakers and told her that it was like that , and remember they checked everything and that wasn't on the speaker when they checked it. This is a positive review pertaining to the employees. I recently bought a couple things here and was helped by Chris Sears, he was very polite and helpful. His attitude and demeanor was welcoming and made me want to spend my money here instead of Best Buy or some other place. My second experience was during a return where Marcus Muller assisted me and he too was very helpful and kind. His handling of my return was also very pleasant. The prices are a bit high here but with good customer service and communication, I felt as though I wasn't being taken advantage of. "HOME OF THE ONE DOLLAR INSTALL" thats all their work is worth, and that may be pushing it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried to leave NO stars, but it wouldn't let me!!!!!!!!!My boyfriend surprised me, by having a new stereo installed in my car. When i bought the car it had an aftermarket stereo in it already, so I'm assuming that audio express just went off the old cables for previous stereo. Havn't had too many problems with the stereo, hence the words too many, but when i took my vehicle to get it smogged it was REJECTED!!! I was told by three different places, that the stereo was installed wrong and was eating the computer chip and they couldn't smog my vehicle. Went into audio express and they insisted all vws are hooked up the same and that in order to get my vehicle smogged i would have to have the oem stereo reinstalled... wtf??? Really, you couldn't have mentioned this to us before installing an aftermarket stereo????? they took a look at my vehicle after i INSISTED!!! I was told that everything was fine. Got in my car and my brakes and abs lights are flashing at me....... they take it back into the store to fix the problem....... I was told that they fixed "IT", they didn't know what they did... I watched them wiggle stuff and shift stuff around under the hood..... I have my car back....lights are off on the dash, but now my brake lights dont work....... . i guess well see how things go this time??? Just thought i would do an update..... i cant believe these guys are even in business. I think it is the worst customer service one could receive...... Went in to get a Bluetooth deck. Made a appointment at 9:00am the next day. He said it shouldn't take long to install a deck, and it would be done in the afternoon. Time passes starting to get worried, call them around 3:00pm earlier to see what's happening, said car wasn't finished. Called them around 6:30 still not done, said they would call me when it's done, Turns out one of his installers got sick and called in, and they had a huge job to do. Thinking he made it up I said fine fine, starting to get aggrovated. So it's 8:30 at nite and they closed at 7 they call and I finally pick my car up. Rude and unhelpful sales people. My husband called to ask a sales person about what he wanted to have installed in my car. Then we show up to have a look. Tom the sales guy was with another customer so we wait around for about 30 minutes. At one point my husband gets his attention to let him know we are there he looks at my husband and was like I'm busy I will be with you when I'm done. Then turns his back on him. At that point I was ready to leave and give our business to someone else. About 30 more min pass and he looks at us and was like I'm almost done. And about 20 min later he was. He seemed bothered we were there and like we were wasting his time. We ended up passing on the whole deal. Tom was the slowest sales person I have ever seen. I called in advance to ask if they had car audio systems and if they would be able to install it the same day. I arrived at 9am picked out my system and was told there is only one car ahead of me and it should only take two hours to install. I drove from Fallon so I had to wait on the car, and at 12 they said they ran into a problem but was almost done. At 3 I started getting impatient and asked what's going on now, my reply was they had to redo a wore running from my amp (which I had professionally installed). Got a new deck, backup camera and a new drop down DVD system for the wife's suv. Cost for deck, DVD and backup camera was about $800. Installation was an additional $400 (after some 50% off deals or something) and then the four extra adapters I had to buy for them to install with was about $500. So, about $1800 is what they rung me up for. They forgot to install the $160 adapter that connects the steering wheel controls to the deck. They said they didn't see it, because it was rung up as a "middle payment". Also, found out it's impossible for them to hook up the stereo to the car dimmer control. Before the install, I asked them to make sure to tuck the backup camera into a spot where it's hard to see and protected. Instead, they mount the camera as obvious and protruding as much as it possibly could. Also, found the cover for the driver seatbelt sitting on the ground and now the rubber trim around the back tailgate door likes to fall off. Nice of them to not reglue these after tearing them off. Found a nice slash in the roof next to the DVD dropdown. They didn't care when I asked them about any of this. Wife has been complaining since about a week after the install that her speakers keep messing up. So we took a road trip and every 30 seconds the front speakers would cut out and the sound would only come out of the back. Sometimes it would cut out the back speakers and only play from the front. This is after them having it a full day (9am till 7pm), and spending hundreds of dollars with them on "install charges". Now, to put in the steering wheel controls, they need it another full day, and possibly over night. I went and picked up the steering wheel adapter and will have someone else install and fix the speakers. read more

Definitely the worst choice in town for car audio needs. Years ago they had a manager named Sean and the service was pretty good. My experience in 2007 with Drake and Josh , was the worst ever. I can see from the latest reviews things have not gotten any better. Call me the idiot for spending $6,000 on a car audio system that to this day the bass shorts out. Oh I went back time and time again for them to try to fix the problem. But I was always treated like an intruder. I also took my car to three other local shops who tried to diagnose the problem but always recommended that I take it back to audio express since I spent so much money on the system. In 2013 they insisted it was the subwoofers and charged me "half price" $325 to install new Subs and guess what I still have the same problem. Prior to this experience I had used them on four or five other vehicles with no complaints , as I said that guy Sean was the best. Hard to believe they're still in business. read more

Both times I dealt with the staff they were knowledgeable, honest, had great customer service, and were not pushy and happy to work within my budget. After the installations I got my car back in the same condition I left it in, actually cleaner. wife got me a gift certificate for my birthday to get a stereo installed here. I went in to get the stereo installed paid $415 for them to install it crooked not hook the antenna up not hook to Bluetooth microphone up and also leave the dash partially uninstalled they forgot to put screws in broke screws and when I went back to ask them what they were going to do about it they told me it wasn't their fault that's how it was supposed to be so I guess it's supposed to be crooked and not go back together properly these people are a joke I am so upset and now I have to go pay more money to get the stereo fixed that they installed.the manager was rude when I told him Best buy told me they could fix everything they messed up he told me they could sell me a dishwasher to and walked away the only reason they're getting a star is because I have to put the star in to put the review in if I could really put in what I wanted they would get -10 Stars read more

I live in south Lake Tahoe and I have a 2003 GMC Yukon. My remote start/security system was inoperable due to my remote getting ruined. I called around to every where in the area that does service like that and I called audio express and I got super good service over the phone and they were able to make me an appointment for the next day to get a new security system/remote start installed. When I arrived I was greeted with excellent customer service and handed over the keys and they began the install. About 3 or so hours later it was ready and they showed me how to use all of the features and everything is working flawless on the first try. The installation was not done as they explained, the sales guy had halitosis and spoke in ebonics, the product is mediocre, and they put a large hole in the dash with a screwdriver and are denying any wrongdoing. Horrible customer service and follow through: This review is long overdue. I write it now as I still not have received any correspondence from management at Audio Express and I have grave concerns regarding both the integrity of their staff and customer service. Last December my husband purchased a remote car start from Audio Express. On the intake, their staff was helpful and excited to sell us this product. It all went downhill from there. Scheduling a time to have the starter installed (between my working schedule and their availability) took three months. When my husband did schedule an appointment it took an entire day to install. Upon returning to home, the headlight knob was not attached to my dash and there was some black gum-like substance seeming to be holding it in place. Immediately we called the store and spoke to the manager Chris. Chris told us that the gum was to stabilize while part while the clips were set. Sounded strange. He also told me to just push it in really hard and it would stay. I did and it dropped out again. I requested that they order me a new headlight knob as mine had been broken. Chris said that they could not do this and that their tech needed to look at the car before hand. We made another appointment which was more difficult to schedule as I was told that the lead technician was needed to fix this problem. Finally, we were able to get in and my car was fixed, so I thought... I Asked Chris specifically if my car has been glued again (during the end of appointment walkthrough) and he assured me that it had not. He told me again that they used a tack to hold it in place so that they clips would hold. (I do have all of these conversations recorded on my phone). Feeling suspicious but seeing that my knob was in place I thanked him and drove home. About 2 months later the knob came loose again and was covered in black glue. I was outraged. I called the store and spoke to Chris who said he had no control of what his technicians did in the back and that he did not know anything about the glue. I asked for the manager and Chris said that he was the manager. I then asked for the owner and was told this was Rob. I called the number given which was a store in Colorado. Immediately the employees on the other end of the line became suspicious of my call and told me that Rob was a very busy man. I told the man (Lex) about my concern and experience and asked how I could relay this to Rob. Lex gave me an email for Rob that was info@audioexpress.com. This upset me as it is an information line and not a personal email or contact. Lex also gave me the district Manager's name of Jeremy Valdez. I called this number as well and he was also unavailable. As one final attempt at resolution I emailed Chris back. I demanded that my car be fixed and that I watch the install to ensure that the part not be glued in place for the third time. Chris asked for my VIN and said that he could get the part and mail it to me. I did receive the part but have yet to install it as I am not sure how and I do not feel comfortable returning to the store. I asked for a refund on my car starter as it cost me numerous visits and damaged my car. I was told no, and I still have not heard back from any management. Horrible service. Pre-paid for a service to be done then the manager was horribly rude and unprofessional and ended up getting a refund and leaving and contacting their corporate office. Do not go to this location. My friend kept telling me not to go there because his speakers were worse than the OEM and they screwed up and over charged him etc and wouldn't fix it, but I didn't listen and went anyways. Now I wish I had listened and gone elsewhere and am taking my business somewhere else. They don't care about their customers and their prices are inconsistent and their cost of labor is inconsistent as well. read more

We came here to have an electronic car starter installed. We had the following issues- -Told that they would start working on the car at 9 a.m. - they did not start until 2 p.m. -10 hour wait only to be told that the car still wouldn't be done till the next day because they were have a lot of headaches installing it. - 10 hours later we are told that "it isn't working" - 11 hours later we are told that they had "Jerry-Rig it" and will need my extra key to attached to the system at all times. I didn't like the service provided by the manager after explaining to them the issues my truck had after they installed a in dash. My rear sensors on my Tahoe worked fine when I went into the shop for the in dash install. After they completed the work I told them about the issues and they said a part had gone bad and it would get ordered and replaced. Three weeks later they call me and tell me the part is in and when I get there they lied and said no part was in and that my blinkers wont make noise after any install " I question why I wasn't told this before the purchase". they also said mud damaged my rear sensors and that's their excuse. I took my 2012 Buick Lacrosse in to have an amp and subs installed. The staff was knowledgeable and helped me choose subs that would still allow me to have trunk space while giving me the bass I desired. The install was very clean, and yes, all my electronics still work perfect. I.e. remote start, back up camera etc. They adjusted the amp perfectly so I can switch between hip hop and hard rock with no adjustment needed.
