This is just tuning related, can't speak to his install or other work. Had talked to him about tuning on a system I had installed with a new Helix DSP. He said he hadn't tuned on one before but would be able to work through it. Got to the appointment and he hadn't even installed the software or looked up the system, I was having to walk him through everything. Should have just left at this point as it didn't seem like he had the skill set for this. I left the car and came back later when it was done. $465 for a couple hours of work... the car sounded like complete garage. Worse than the base tune the Helix folks had set up to get everything running. Ended up taking it to another shop and they said all the EQ settings made no sense for the equipment I had and he just clearly didn't understand the product. An hour work for less than $200 and the new shop had it sounding amazing. He may be great at installs but on tuning he clearly doesn't know what he is doing. read more

Let's start with the basics. The man himself -- J -- is a good dude. Chill as can be, but more importantly, honest and patient. My experience with J from start to finish was nothing short of stellar. In fact, I'm hesitant to add to his phenomenal reputation out of selfishness; the guy's in such high demand already that more of it means I might never again get an appointment with him in a reasonable timeframe. But he deserves it, so here I am. I recently purchased a pretty advanced dashcam system. It's a three channel DVR from BlackVue, a system J had minimal experience with. He was honest in his assessment of the equipment and my vehicle and upfront with his pricing. I decided to trust him with the install and he did a phenomenal job, very clean. I ended up throwing a few extra bucks his way because he didn't try nickel and diming me to death. I've got more installation projects coming up. J is fantastic! He got us in quick when we were attempting to install our own new audio system in my 2023 Bronco Black Diamond and we ran into some issues. He found out that the amp we purchased was bad and we were wiring it wrong for the 3 ohm speakers we also bought. We ended up returning the speakers for more high end models that he recommended and exchanging the bad amp. As soon as everything was delivered he got us in right away to finish our install. He had it done in 1 day and, let me tell you, this system ROCKS. My husband is so jealous that he's now going to have J install a new audio system in his truck. I was referred to J's Tech by someone he previously shared a shop with. I am very grateful for the introduction and have sent him several vehicles in just the last month. Having previously owned an auto repair business for over 25 years, what struck me the most was how thorough he was in understanding the issues I was trying to resolve or the low voltage goals (sound/lighting/communications) I was trying to achieve. This guys knows his stuff, and did not hesitate to let me know if he was confronting an issue that was new to him. The setting up of an appointment was painless and very efficient. He is busy, but worth the wait. One of the vehicles he did a great job on was a highly customized Polaris RZR. The previous owner had done all the customization. When I acquired it everything worked including a remote starter (useless), alarm (useless), extensive supplemental lighting (very cool and useful), tricked out stereo, etc. Over time things started to stop working and every time I attempted to get it repaired I had few takers. I did not blame others for not wanting to get involved, the wiring was a total mess. Nothing was labeled, wires were run in areas that created pinch points, etc. J let me know that he would have to charge on a Time & Material basis given the unknowns that existed, and the time it would take to just properly label the wiring. I agreed that it would have been impossible to quote for a job where you are essentially inheriting and redoing someone's work without a very large contingency. Several hours after dropping off the vehicle he called with a new, very fair, fixed proposal. He explained that once he started working on it went faster than expected. He could have milked this situation, but didn't. This sealed the deal for me. Everything, I wanted to keep is working, and equally important everything is properly labeled. I better end this review before Al Madrigal (comedian) uses this as an example of people rambling on Yelp! In summary, he did another stereo install on a vehicle and also was doing our boat. If you want highly personalized service (he is a one man gang), and want to deal with an intelligent trustworthy professional, than J's your guy. read more
