If you're thinking about getting a new stereo or sound system put in your vehicle, stop right here. I recently was looking to get a new stereo for my wife's car. I've never gotten an aftermarket stereo installed before. I had thought about it and had gone into an audio express a few times to price them out, but never with the cash in hand. Audio Express was one I knew about because of their commercials about their one dollar install. So now with the money in hand and wanting to do something nice for my wife, I went back to Audio Express to set this up. I was looking for a CD/DVD, display with Bluetooth audio for her phone and music, with the ability to have a back-up camera installed later. My budget was $300, This was because of the prices I had seen previously while in Audio Express. However, after talking with the sales rep a $250 stereo became $550. I was to say the least a little put back from that. Thinking maybe I'll just get her a Bluetooth one with no screen no DVD at $150 would still be ok. The sells rep told me out the door that would be $525. That was it. "How can you justify making a stereo that has a price tag on it saying one thing more than double out the door?" I asked. He proceeded to tell about all the things (NOT LISTED) they had to do to install it. Wiring harness $150, Antenna kit $20, install fee $130. Guess their no longer the home of the $1 install I guess So then I tried Creative Car Stereo on Camelback. They were pretty much the same as Audio Express, but with only 2 choices. Their installed out the door price was about double what was listed as well. At this point I start calling places instead of going all over Phoenix just to be disappointed. After a few phone calls I checked yelp and found Custom Car Concepts from what I was reading I was blown away from all the positive reviews on what a stand up guy Matt was. So I called, Told them how much I had and what I wanted. Gave them the information of the vehicle (To the best of my knowledge). Matt told me that yes he had a DVD/CD player with the touch screen that was back-up camera ready and would also be Bluetooth. "Okay so, How much after install" I asked. "Nope that's it, out the door." I was floored. I drove over there to get it. The stereo is a Pioneer, and not some knock-off from China so I'm pretty happy. At this point Matt proceeded to tell me all the things about the car I got wrong and how the price he quoted wasn't accurate because of it. For a second I thought I was going to have to pay more. Then with out anything from me he said, "I'll still honor the $300 quote I gave you over the phone. The only bad thing about this was that he couldn't get it installed that day because they were booked up for a week. Yes Audio Express, and Creative Car Stereo could have done the install the same day. For another $250 and for a stereo not nearly as nice. He did let me take the stereo home in the box and that along with an appointment date for install is what I gave my wife for Christmas. I can't recommend Matt and the people over at Custom Car Concepts enough. I will never go anywhere else. I'm planning on taking my truck along with my wife's car there many times in the future. So, this has been a long process, but it has a fantastic ending. I went to Audio Express (Indian School) last year to get a stereo installed, and left with a stereo installed as expected. They guy working on my stereo did a sub-par job, and so I returned to ask them about the quality of work. They fixed his mistake and I upgraded some of the components. About 1 month later the subs stopped working, so I returned and they fixed this mistake. Then about 2 months later with a new amp, new box and different subs that I purchased, the subs quit working again. I was furious!!! Unbeknownst to me, the tech had misplaced a bolt that holds the stereo in place and it fell down and fried the air conditioning control unit in my brand new 2014 Tacoma. I was so displeased that I vowed never to return before this had taken place. Once the dealership explained to me what was causing the air conditioning problem, and that it would not be covered by warranty, I saw no other option but to return to the store and see what they would do to fix the problem. Last week I returned and explained to the new manager Ian what had taken place. During all of these previous times, he was transitioning into this store and was there intermittently. He told me that had he been the manager at the time, he would never have let any of this take place. I believe him now. So, he called the dealership, bought me a new part (cost them $601.00), replaced the part and I decided to give them one more shot at fixing my bunk stereo. They ripped out all the old wiring (no charge), gave me a new amp kit (no charge), fixed my steering wheel controls (no charge), fixed my AM/FM antenna (no charge), will be fixing my back up camera this week (no charge), and installed new door speakers, two amps, and 3 JL Audio 10" subs. They have almost a whole new crew at this store due to Ian, with a new guy named Cory that has over a decade of experience installing custom stereos. I have friends who have had multiple systems in their vehicles, and they cannot believe how INCREDIBLE my truck sounds. You would think that you were sitting in a concert listening to the band live. Ian kept to his word and fixed mistakes that weren't even his to fix. I am a truly a satisfied customer and plan to return to get an alarm installed shortly. I would have never recommended this store to even my worst enemy 6 months ago, but with Ian in charge and his new top-of-the-line crew, I would recommend this location to anyone. P.S. I went to the one on Gilbert rd. in Mesa. I asked them to take it easy on my car as it was brand new. After needing a "rewiring" and a new stereo, We paid about 300 for it. It took about 4 hours and They couldn't hook up my side speakers due to them needing an amp (which was an extra $200). We had them just hook the basics up; back speakers, and dash speakers and new stereo. When we went to put the amp in ourselves, we found a damn drywall screw in the back of the stereo where the antenna hooks up... which I had an antenna plug for and it did fit. Obviously the screw was put there. They told me when we left I would need new speakers soon because of the static sound... as soon as we took the screw out and plugged the antenna in, it sounded a lot cleaner. Now, 4 weeks later, the back speakers that they hooked up quit working. I will not even return to have them "fix" it for free because I don't want any of these hacks working on my car... Fast forward to reality, beyond the hustle and drive of this world, it was noticed in the grand scheme of things that the life-blood of brick and mortar was compromised. Beyond the speculation of what happened after my post, the management and staff at Audio Express did the honorable thing and made the issue right. I read others reviews for this location and decided to head over there anyway, as I have had good experiences at other Audio Express locations. If you have ever had work done by them, you know its never a dollar install, but that's a given. Knowing that I went here and was met by the Manager Brad. I have to say that Brad was excellent to work with! I had just got a brand new truck and felt good leaving it under his watch. He has extensive knowledge and experience, and he worked up a system in my budget. Customizing anything is never cookie cutter, so when I wanted to change one element of the stereo he was more than accommodating. They also did my tint which came out great! I would recommend this location to family and friends, Big Kevin was extremely helpful and made sure my install happened as quick as possible due to other delays. The staff (Jacob) was very helpful greeted me upon entering enough though he was assisting another customer. I was informed the average install time is 3-4 hours however, it was completed within 3 hours. When I arrived to pick up my car Jacob went over all the features and should me how to use the key-less entry, bluetooth, and a few other pointers. I would be back to upgrade my speakers and to tint the windows. Overall I am very happy and would be returning. read more

I have been wanting a remote start for my car for a long time and finally got one for my birthday (thanks, hubby!). I decided to go with Audio Express. From the first phone call with Kevin, the General Manager, I was certain this was the right place to do it. Kevin was funny, super helpful and didn't try to upsell me. I wanted a basic product and didn't need all the extras. They did a fabulous job and I am absolutely loving my remote start. I just wish I didn't wait this long. To be honest I did not know what to expect when I went in, but I had fun shoping here. They took the time to explain to me how to run my new stereo. I got one that has a USB port so I can put all my music on a flash drive. It also has ipod, but believe it or not I am one of the few who does not have an ipod. The Kenwood stereo that i got is perfect for my needs. The install took a while but looks good. When I got my car back i expected a clean install, what i did not expect was that they took the time to vacumn my car. I would recommend this shop. read more

These guys were great. I stopped in 2 hrs after they had closed, was going to see what time they open in the am. They open the door and and asked if they could help me. I said I was looking for a double male rca connector and they said sorry there closed but the servIce guy said he had one in his tool box and gave it too me. Bought a jvc head unit to work with my steering wheel controls. Had everything hooked up with the inter adapter. But could not get my steering controls to work. Called and talked to Ben. He said just bring it down we will figure it out for you. Got there he loo at it then had a technician come and look at it. They brought it in to the shop and just had to update and program. So now my steering controls work. Thanks to will for fixing it and Ben for being awesome help. There service is always great. read more

I had a very good experience here. I went in for a new reciever and backup camera combo for my suburu outback. After a pricing/quoteing misunderstanding Jose (manager) was able to make everything I wanted fit in my budget and another employee i belive matthew drove all the way to their south east location to pic up a part to get my install done that day. While the 1 dollar install is misleading, I am happy with the finished product. The installer killed it definitely felt the subie love. read more

This audio express has the best customer service compared to all of the other audio shops. Close to being hopeless and stress level rising I gave Kevin a call at this location and he told me to breath. He said come down and we will take care of you. as soon as I arrived he was able to diagnose my audio problem in 30 seconds. I have always had a good experience with the staff here. If I ever had a problem they always fixed it with no questions asked. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. On several occasion I have ran in just to ask a technical question and they were always ready to help and give me advice. NO CHARGE.
