I had previously booked attic cleanup and insulation work with another company. After reading up and asking more questions I was concerned I made the wrong choice. I do not claim to be an expert but I am very meticulous in my expectations. I called Attic experts and was called back immediately by Damir. He confirmed my suspicions and quickly put me at ease. After discussing my situation and sending some pictures, he gave me a quote that was far better than the other company. His team arrived promptly as promised and spent most of the morning doing prep on my house to ensure a clean job. I went into the attic numerous times just to check on things. This job is not an easy task and best left to these guys. Do not try to save a few bucks and rent the unit at Home Depot, you will regret it as the equipment is not the same. I was highly impressed with the process, the job and thoroughness. I would certainly recommend them if you are considering cleanup and insulation work. I have been looking for attic insulation work for my second home in Benicia Ca. It's hard to find someone locally when I'm not in state (Las Vegas). Did google searches, nothing look promising. We had Damir and his crew remove the old (rodent destroyed) insulation which was probably installed when the house was first built. They sealed up all the holes leading outside to prevent rodents from entering and installed new blown-in insulation in our attic. For work done in November 2014 Our house was built in 1998 and already had fiberglass insulation in the attic but was probably whatever the minimum was to pass the building code in '98. Some parts of the house that would be difficult to access by a lazy building inspector had no insulation which included the area above an entire bedroom 300 sqft bedroom with 3 perimeter walls and another area of about 150 sqft along one side of the house. The lack of any insulation in those areas would explain why that bedroom was always 8-10 degrees hotter or colder than the rest of the house at all times of the day and night. Side note, I also found a large empty can of malt liquor in the insulation that was probably left by the builders and mounds of insulation in some areas that would make it difficult to see beyond the mound into the uninsulated areas without crawling around. I also installed solar powered attic fans previously to draw out some of the heat buildup in the attic, which helps control the temps on the second floor on a hot day but does nothing on cold days. I'm a pretty hands-on DIYer so I've crawled throughout the attic several times and have drilled holes in perimeter walls more than a few times so I have an idea what's where but there are things that while I can do, I'd prefer not to do myself. I had requested 4 estimates from different companies: one from another popular company on yelp but the price was high considering the contractor was unlicensed, one from Damir at Attic Experts (lowest bid), another from one of the larger companies (estimate appointment was scheduled for the earliest date - 3 months away) and the last from another large company that required the completion of a whole house analysis report (in itself about $600) before any estimate of work could be scheduled. The unlicensed contractor popped his head into the attic and told me that I needed to have all of the existing insulation removed, gaps around the recessed light cans and other leaks sealed, additional insulation blown into the walls and then new insulation added back in the attic; he said "I'll give you the good stuff because you are a nice guy". I have only 6 recessed light cans on that floor of the house, all of which I was able to seal myself with a can of expanding foam. I also sealed around bathroom vents and anything else cut through the ceiling where there were darker clumps of insulation. All the perimeter walls already have fiberglass batts installed so blowing in additional in a 2x4 wall doesn't sound likely, there's just no space. Damir came out on a weekend afternoon, crawled throughout parts of my attic and assessed what I needed and what I didn't. He told me that he could add more insulation into the attic raising the existing to around R30-R38 and that sealing the 6 cans probably wouldn't make a large difference (I did it anyways since I figured that with more insulation in the attic that I wouldn't be able to get around inside easily anymore). His estimate sounded more feasible so I agreed with his assessment and scheduled for him to come out on the following Saturday. When Damir and his assistant showed up they took a lot of effort to seal off the area around the attic access hatch (ceiling to floor), plastic covering the floor and everything else (desk, furniture, shelving, lamps, etc.) in the path between the window where the insulation hose runs and the attic hatch. The work took about 2 hours to complete and they cleaned up everything when it was finished. He also explained and showed me what he had added in the attic. I haven't been in the attic since because there's now too much insulation to wade through but the effect of adding more insulation is immediately apparent. The bedroom is still a few degrees hotter or cooler than the center of the house but the room does have four circa 1998 dual pane windows and it's at one end of the house that isn't affected by the downstairs HVAC unit. Also, I've noticed that in general we don't need to run the heater as often as we used to. I'm sure the impact during the summer time will be just as beneficial. read more

For about 2 months while my family has been sleeping we heard a little steps up in our attic, I was telling my husband tht we have rats or mice or something of that sort and he was telling me tht it was my imagination. So at first I was a bit hesitant to take them but let me tell you it was the best thing I ever did. Damir promptly returned my initial call, and after I described the square footage, attic access, and the old insulation I wanted removed and replaced he quoted a price over the phone that beat all the competition by a few hundred dollars. He did a site visit to confirm, also on time and courteous. He returned in less than a week to do the job, and he and his assistant performed like champions. It was a hard job, hot day, and they worked from early morning until late evening to complete the job. Clean up was thorough. He also goes to extra lengths to minimize dust from the operations, keeping neighbors from complaining. When he discovered my knotty pine tongue and groove board ceiling had lots of cracks and gaps, he went the extra mile to seal those cracks with foam...same thing with the AC vents and other potential sources of attic dust entering my house. We had a rat problem in the attic, and the old insulation definitely needed to be replaced. We also needed someone to seal up some areas where the rats were coming in. I had a total of 4 companies come out and bid. I was most impressed with Damir from Attic Experts. He was the only one who actually spent time in the attic, around the house, and on the roof assessing the problem. He is very professional and honest, and he has a great eye for attention to detail. His quote was very fair and reasonable, and I hired him for the job. He and his crew showed up in the morning and worked their butts off until after 6pm. Let me tell you, they are very hard workers, and they didn't miss anything. They took out all the old insulation, ensured there were no air leaks between the attic and my living area, made some minor repairs to my duct work, sanitized and deodorized the attic, sealed a number of areas where the rats were entering, and blew in brand new insulation at the proper amounts. Damir & crew did an excellent job. I had him blow in additional cellulose insulation to my already installed R-30 above the living areas of the house and also the non-insulated section above the garage. I notice some difference in temp. inside the house, but I still need a/c on hot days--but it doesn't cycle on and off as much as before. The biggest difference was in the garage. Before insulation was added it was always 80-90 degrees on warm days. Now the temp. is between 70-80. I work in my garage a lot. It should work in reverse during cold days. It took them a few hours to complete and left my house the way they found it. I think it was well worth the $$$. Highly recommend!! read more

Damir is the owner and also one of the workers, so he knows what he's talking about. He's based in Concord but comes as far south as the San Jose area. They work on Saturdays, which is good for his longer-distance jobs, so they can finish in one day. They removed the old attic insulation, cleaned and sanitized, and installed the new. I feel Damir is very honest, and his price is competitive. When he came for the estimate, he went up into the attic and looked all around. He explained everything to me upfront, so there were no surprises. He even did some extra things without any additional charge, like sealing up holes and fixing the existing attic fan. I thought I'd have to buy a new fan, but he told me not to waste my money since he got the old one to work just fine. Right now it's 90 degrees outside and 77 inside. I don't need the AC half as much as before Damir did this job. He's very easy to work with, as well as was his co-worker. I highly recommend them. read more

We hired them to remove old attic insulation and clean up the attic space and to install radiant barrier insulation. We also had them perform rodent-proofing as the company we previously hired didn't do the job right. Damir and his crew put the other company to shame and they did it for significantly less. Work was done less than two weeks after I first contacted them, and they did it on a weekend so we didn't have to take time off work ourselves. They showed up on time and worked hard to make sure the job was done on time. And I have never had a contractor leave my house as clean as they did.
